Thirty episodes is not likely to be draggy. I hope it's not too rushed and Xu Kai gets plenty of screentime.
Unfortunately, he's under yu zheng and has been a bargaining chip since debut because he exploded very early during story of yanxi palace. In SEL, xk said that he went through a lot of pain and hardwork to film some martial arts scenes only for it to be either cut
I don’t think they ever officially announced an episode count for this one (though someone correct me if I’m…
Yeap. the no of episodes in the filming permission is 40. Usually pre-filming no of episodes, what they actually film, post production no of episodes, post-review no of episodes can all be different. For instance, Spring of the blade filing is for 40 episodes, but the actual no of episodes in the script is 30. So we won't know until they pass review

In his past dramas, his boss uses him as a bargaining chip to exchange resources for other actors/ boss's favourites. They need him to open the project and get investment, because xukai has proven to be an actor that promises high return on investment. But the actual plots in the middle-later parts of his dramas sidelines his character, while other character's gets so much screentime, even though plotwise it makes absolutely zero sense. He barely appears in the actual drama, even though he goes through so much pain to film scenes (MR, SEL etc).
As for this drama, all i can say is the script that i read is good/complete/tight. ive read 26 episodes. the actual drama is 30 episodes so they've probably changed some stuff here and there. Unlike the novel, the script has more court stuff. The housefighting part is the surface and it also connects to the court-related stuff. FL character is much more mature than the novel. ML's character arc is well-written. Ive heard some rumours here and there that some scenes could not be filmed (ML court scenes) and some scenes were added for other characters. As for whether the final product is chopped/watered can be only determined when it comes out.
Now that Xu Kai has a drama or two (or three) airing soon, the nasties on twitter are having a field day. Why…
how come he's the only one being targeted like this? do other actors pay those marketing accounts to post positive stuff about them and xukai doesn't hence the bad stuff? or is it just miserable people with nothing to do?
I hope Xu Kai has a bigger role than the trailer depicts.🤔
usually there should be another trailer before the release. But since this is a suspense drama, they can only show some highlight scenes and one or two lines depicting the main theme- father son relationship. the whole story revolves around XK and dad. All other characters, will add flavour to chen hui and chen hongbin's storyline. This is a turning point for xk as he loves chen hui so much. lets be optimistic and count the days until the release
Words cannot express how excited I am for this. I wish MDL allow memes stickers. Now I am expected to wait week/s for this to drop. Really overestimating my patience 😝😝
As can be seen in the latest marketing materials, Ding Yong Dai is listed first, followed by Xu Kai. Is it because…
Recently they made some changes to billing orders. For equal billing, actor with less strokes in their surname is announced first. As for this, even though XK signed the contract in 2024 and still is the first billed, his name will come second due to broadcasting rules. It sounds to me that it’s just a formality. I think they did some changes to wei daxun recently as well coz that’s when the whole thing started. We will probably know more in the future when another popular actor gets a villain role
