she does not hate him. she does love him. just not admitting it right now since in the middle of a chaotic family situation full of snakes and her own revenge. And she is a guarded person. So she's very cautious around the ML since she does not know him fully to trust and open up to him

I think fl is so capable of her revenge from the start but after ml appears she seems rely on him a lot
only after investigating inside the house and seeing her dad did she realise her mother's death not only concerns inner house chaos but a serious national crime. even shen run with all those resources has to move silently, qingyuan relying on him to bring down the dad is a no brainer. as for the inner-house culprits, she does it by herself later

perfectly realistic in ancient times. when you grow up freely in a loving environment like granny chen running around, its normal to learn about medicine/herbs/baking since the grandma had a shop herself. As for law, she experienced a great injustice, anyone who can read a book will study law if they want revenge. Thats the basic requirement. If u dont know the law, how are you gonna play the game. Plus she has her weaknesses. She cannot fight. So shes a pure mental strength smarty. When it comes to physical strength she has to rely on dong fanchun or shen run.
A lot of people have raised issues about the editing so I’m just gonna lay this down- the director has filmed this using a suspense lense since this is not your typical romance costume drama. So if you are expecting pure romance you might be disappointed. A lot of the scenes you see now has foreshadowing details you won’t catch until you keep watching. There are a lot of flashbacks too. This could be very confusing unless you watch plenty of suspense dramas. You have to pay close attention to detail to fully grasp the plot.

The director is filming it using a suspense style with movie visuals and angles. Unless you are used to quality suspense dramas, you might find it hard to keep up with, especially with the amount of plot tricks the director has
I think FL has feelings for ML enough for her to do a staged kiss and get all touchy. But she doesn’t want to get married and leave the Xie mansion because that means she has to do her revenge from outside which is harder. So she’s pushing away the ML in episode 9-10 ish. She’s also closed hearted unlike ML who is much more active and relaxed. He definitely likes her for her self, her courage and for being a Xie daughter. Can easily use her as an excuse to go in and out of the mansion, dig some info etc. and the FL will open up to him slowly
