"Within 800 Meters" | High-Quality Production and Excellent Acting, All Cast Members Are On Point
I was fortunate enough to attend an advance screening of the first two episodes of "Within 800 Meters" today, and I'm giving you a sneak peek. After watching both episodes, I can confidently say you can enjoy it without worry.
First, regarding the overall feel of the series, the production quality is incredibly high. Whether it's the visuals or the historical accuracy, the opening scene truly builds suspense and is even a little scary. The visual impact of watching it in a movie theater is truly impressive. Listening to the director and producer's post-screening discussion, I learned that the production team put a lot of thought and effort into this series. The interplay of light and shadow, the balance of gray and bright tones, are all masterful. The mining area and the town's residential area were filmed on location, perfectly recreating the look of that era.
Let's talk about the actors. Although this is a suspenseful crime drama, after watching the first two episodes (ahhh~ I'm so envious of Song Ge, played by Deng Enxi, for having such a devoted, intelligent, and handsome boyfriend—ps: on a side note!), the plot twists and turns, making me feel like I need to use my brain to keep up. I can't miss a single moment, otherwise I won't know why things are going the way they are. The most memorable scene was the struggle between Xu Kai and Ding Yongdai in the hospital—it was truly brilliant. (You'll have to watch the full episodes yourself; I won't spoil it.)
Back to the main point, Xu Kai really surprised me in this drama. In these two episodes, I felt that Xu Kai completely held his own against the veteran actors, especially the father-son relationship and the clash between justice and evil with Ding Yongdai—it was so captivating. I feel that he portrayed Chen Hui, a character struggling on the edge of good and evil, from his sunny youth to his desperate pursuit of love driven by life's hardships, with great depth, especially in the changes in his eyes from confusion to later resolute ruthlessness. Xu Kai truly stepped out of his comfort zone and achieved a breakthrough.
After watching these two episodes, I really felt sorry for Eun-hee's character, Song-ge. Once innocent and carefree, she was later tormented by illness. She always smiled and seemed indifferent in public, but her heart was filled with sorrow. Deng Eun-hee brought Song-ge's brokenness and the intertwining of life and resilience to life. It can be said that her expressive eyes and nuanced acting gave the character soul.
The other actors are also excellent. Ding Yong-dai's portrayal of his character was full of charisma, righteousness, and even a touch of cuteness. (How can this family be so intelligent?)
After watching just two episodes, I feel like I can't get enough. I can't wait to see what happens next; I really want to know what will happen next.
A sneak peek at the TV series "800 Meters Within a Frame" | A 1000-word review! A potential dark horse in the suspense genre!
- I was very honored to have a sneak peek at "800 Meters Within a Frame." I did my homework and prepared myself mentally before watching, but I was stunned from the very beginning. The close-ups of the corpses and the detailed shots of their faces were breathtaking! Because of this case, the timeline of the entire series is pulled back to a case from many years ago, as if it were a preordained plot that had finally come to fruition. One particularly clever aspect of this series is that it reveals most of the characters' true nature in the first two episodes, essentially giving you a god-like perspective. You can guess one step, but you can't predict the next; the plot twists keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time!
The father-son relationship is the core of this series. Ding Yongdai plays the father, Chen Hongbing, a veteran police officer who has spent his life investigating cases. Xu Kai plays the son, Chen Hui, a young and promising convenience store owner. As the storyline involving the trafficking of contraband emerges, the father's investigation increasingly focuses on his son. The most captivating part was that in the episode I watched, the confrontation between the father and son wasn't a loud, boisterous argument; it was all a silent battle of wits. A glance, a tentative question, a hesitant pause—the oppressive feeling of "What are you hiding from me?" was incredibly real. The elevator scene in the second episode, where the father probed Xiaohui, had me on the edge of my seat! Thankfully, things turned out alright in the end! Ding Yongdai's acting needs no introduction; it's top-notch. Xu Kai also nailed it, his eyes conveying confusion, restraint, and a hidden sharpness. When the two were on screen together, it was truly a clash of masters.
I also really enjoyed the storyline between Xu Kai and Deng Enxi. Enxi's portrayal of Gao Songge and her chemistry with Chen Hui was wonderful. The first two episodes were fast-paced, and we didn't see much of their relationship develop yet, but a flashback scene revealed a very strong bond between them. Eun-hee's character is also very complex. She's not a simple character; as the producer said, she's neither a naive innocent nor a ruthless villain. Her performance is extremely important in the drama, and you can understand why this role was chosen for her. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it develops!
The overall production quality of the entire series is a huge plus. Filmed on location in Jiangxi, the coal dust, mine carts, and old-fashioned buildings are all real, not the fake period costumes created in studios. The atmosphere of that era—the wave of layoffs, the black market for medicine, and the cover-up of mine accidents—is all woven into the plot, making it feel like this isn't a fictional suspense story, but a story that actually happened!
The pacing is tight and fast-paced, with many plot twists in just 20 episodes, and the acting of the entire cast is superb. Hearing Xilinna Yigao sing the ending theme song at the end was a wonderful surprise! It perfectly matches the drama! I can't wait for the official premiere on the 17th; both episodes are at crucial junctures, and I can't wait to see how the story unfolds!!
The screenwriter of "Within 800 Meters" talks about Xu Kai's portrayal of Chen Hui: After watching the first two episodes, you can already feel Chen Hui's struggles. This is destined to be no simple role, and actor Xu Kai's performance is excellent.
Repo 8- http://xhslink.com/o/2Pxdn7kVNgv Within an 800-meter radius, the first 10 seconds are high-energy! It's more interesting than expected. The two episodes I've watched so far are packed with information, and the plot seems quite complex. Looking forward to the 20 plot twists to come, haha!
I was lucky enough to win a spot at the "800-Meter Surrounding Area" advance screening and have already seen two episodes! My honest feeling is that it's fantastic! A father-cop, son-criminal tale, an ultimate cat-and-mouse game. Ding Yongdai plays police officer Chen Hongbing, relentlessly pursuing the truth. As the clues deepen, the suspect points directly to his own biological son, Chen Hui! Xu Kai has also made a significant breakthrough this time; his performance, from his appearance and character to his acting, is outstanding. The director on set said he was very satisfied with him. I can't wait for the official release to watch it!
Xu Kai's new drama producer talks about some concerns about casting him. I watched two episodes of "Eight Hundred Meters in the Circle" early. It's rare to see a crime drama that's so open from the start. The plot moves forward quickly, and the production quality is pretty good!
The producer said he was initially worried about Xu Kai, but after meeting him, he found the actor to be very cooperative and actively seeking self-improvement. "Eight Hundred Meters in the Circle" [eoi] #XuKai
http://xhslink.com/o/8wsl0Olo9BT An advance screening within an 800-meter radius! Xu Kai and Deng Enxi are such a pleasant surprise!
Xu Kai and Enxi's characters are incredibly well-developed, with strong contrasts! They have a sunny, cheerful side, as well as a brooding, ruthless one. They're not stereotypical villains; you can't help but feel sorry for them. Their acting is a pleasant surprise!
The subject matter is very novel, and the pacing of the whole series is incredibly fast! After watching just two episodes, all the characters' secrets have been revealed, it's like watching the show from a god's-eye view, but there are still many plot twists, making it incredibly suspenseful! Who knows how much I want to see what happens next?!
The corpse's face was great, and the opening scene features a burning corpse… looks like they're trying to capitalize on that. It's definitely a period drama, with the 1997-esque background music, a coal mine within an 800-meter radius, thousands of households… spontaneous combustion of coal gangue… very characteristic of the era and region. The male lead, the deputy director, is so proactive; apparently, similar cases existed 25 years ago… Ding Yongdai's acting is excellent, no need to worry. Xu Kai's look is good, he deserves praise, Xu Kai's acting was great! The father-son relationship is quite interesting, but then, wow, the son's expression is off, almost unrecognizable! Hurry up and bring it on, I need to keep watching!
Episodes 1-2 have been released and are currently in post-screening review.
Overall impression: The plot progresses quickly, getting straight to the main storyline in the first episode without dragging. There are hooks, and at least I had the desire to continue watching. The acting is solid; Ding Yongdai speaks for himself, and Xu Kai is surprisingly convincing, a completely different type of character from his previous roles, showing a breakthrough. Fans can look forward to it! Deng Enxi is also quite good, a very spirited young actress.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is connection between Wu Jin Yan and Miles Wei project and the earlier Xu Kai…
Miles Wei is a mango platform artist. Mango is also YZ's turf. YZ gave XK and many of his other artists (as side characters) Tiandu and mango pushed miles. YZ is pushing wjy and other artists to this drama while mango is pushing miles. I don't know if there's a connection between the two dramas. It's mostly a huanyu x mango exchange. another thing is, xu kai's melon return of the king's remoured director (Yang Huan) was supposed to film with WJY and MW, but they announced a different director today (if Return of king happens, the same director cannot be filming two dramas at once) . YH directed perfect match, so he's a YZ's guy. IQIYI is YZ's main platform.
After watching the trailer for "800 Meters Within a Frame," I have to say, Xu Kai is quite suited to serious dramas. I initially started paying attention to this series because of X Theater, from "The Long Season" to "Under the Prosperous City," whether it's a realistic or suspenseful drama, it's never lacking in masterpieces with depth of human nature and intensity of crime. The trailer for "800 Meters Within a Frame" is no exception, carrying a strong sense of fate and danger, with everyone caught in a vortex of human nature. But what's even more surprising is that the trailer shows another side of Xu Kai. Actually, I've watched quite a few of Xu Kai's dramas in recent years, besides "Story of Yanxi Palace," I also followed "The Legend of Zhen Huan" and "Midnight Return." I've always felt that he's very suitable for those kinds of roles, whether it's a cold and aloof Taoist priest in a period drama or a modern urban elite, he can handle it all because his features are handsome and heroic, and not the effeminate type, but rather upright and graceful, making him very stable in these kinds of roles.
But what's truly stunning in the trailer for "800 Meters Within a Frame" is the glimpse of another side of him: his depth and realism in realistic dramas. In "800 Meters Within a Frame," he plays Chen Hui, dressed in work clothes, sporting a buzz cut, his skin roughened by life's hardships—deeply rooted, concrete, and relatable. Even more remarkable is that, within the complex character of Chen Hui, you can see a story in Xu Kai's eyes—a silent, dullness tinged with tension and a sense of danger, a weariness and rawness born of life's trials. This makes you believe in the character, draw you into his life, and wonder about his secrets and the truth.
Therefore, Xu Kai's demeanor this time is quite different. We know that period dramas require outward displays of deep emotion and aloofness, while realistic works emphasize restraint, detail, and the undercurrents of emotion. But what about Chen Hui in the "800 Meters Within a Frame" trailer? It's so realistic; he doesn't talk much, his expressions are understated, but his eyes hide struggle and ruthlessness. Beneath the calm lies a surging emotion, even in silent eye contact or subtle gestures. He conveys the character's inner turmoil and sense of danger. This restrained yet ruthless performance is far more flavorful and intriguing than deliberate acting.
It feels like Xu Kai has found a new path as an actor this time. I also look forward to seeing him portray the complex character Chen Hui in "800 Meters Around," a role that perfectly blends good and evil, and will allow him to fully showcase his strengths. This character isn't a one-dimensional, black-and-white figure; he has his own hardships, struggles, ruthlessness, and tenderness—a complex mix of human nature that demands exceptional micro-expressions and emotional control from the actor. I hope "800 Meters Around" will be the catalyst for seeing how he grounds himself in realistic themes, how he immerses himself in authentic characters, and how he continues to explore new avenues through his work. I hope to see his breakthroughs and answers as an actor.
Today, EH producers and directors attended an early premier to talk about the drama and attendees watched the first two episodes. The director praised xu kai by saying how he has completely transformed. He has watched some crying scenes of kai over and over again. he says he's very satisfied and praised kai a lot. Kai got the script and immediately called the director himself to discuss about it. The producer praised kai too. She said that previously kai had this ancient costume hero, modern hero image, something completely opposite from chen hui, so they were initially worried. But kai was so harworking and dared to break through his image
A viewer's report from within an 800-meter radius! Every episode has a plot twist!!!
I've already watched the first two episodes! But this is definitely not the final version!
Xu Kai's entrance on rollerblading was so cool! The female lead's character is also super captivating—she seems like a wounded, innocent girl waiting for a kidney transplant and undergoing dialysis, but she also has her own hidden identity! The male and female leads are like a pair of star-crossed lovers, a powerful combination! Xu Kai's portrayal of heartbreak is both composed and heartbreaking! What started as a happy family dinner turned into a dramatic shift at the end of the first episode with Xu Kai's expression, and that final phone call instantly transported the heartwarming scene to suspense—they really know how to keep you hooked!
The second episode takes it a step further! Xu Kai is about to engage in a battle of wits with his policeman father! They reminisce about their childhood siblings (played by Xu Kai and Deng Enxi), eventually calling each other by their real names, yet their hearts remain tightly bound together!
The conflicts are piling up one by one! The first two episodes laid the clues out in the open, but the real drama was just beginning—hiding his thuggish nature to save the woman he loves, while also going head-to-head with his veteran detective father!
Spoilers said each episode would have a twist, and sure enough, the tension at the abrupt end of the second episode was truly gripping! I can't wait for the next episode! I'll be watching it as soon as it airs.

There's nowhere to escape within an 800-meter radius. I watched the first two episodes with high expectations. Father and son, black and white, love and family. The plot is very coherent and doesn't drag. The pacing is also very good. It's an open-ended progression, but not annoying. Immersive and I felt like I was struggling along with the characters. 😖
📆I'll definitely watch it when it's released on the 17th. The pairing of Xu Kai and Ding Yongdai is fantastic. Seeing @XuKaiSoso's unwavering determination to change himself... He's not just an idol, a cute puppy, a domineering CEO, etc. He's worked hard to become a different, more expressive version of himself. Still handsome but not at all out of place. It feels like a different Xu Kai.
An unidentified female corpse is discovered in the mining area. Old stories and new case clues intertwine, making the once peaceful town see undercurrents... Worth watching! #DingYongdai #XuKai
The small details created for the plot, showcasing the authentic traces of life within the larger environment, and giving the actors a greater sense of feeling and impact in real-life settings, make the story more engaging and the actors' performances spot-on. Hearing the introduction from the director, producer, and screenwriter makes me even more eager for the remaining 18 episodes.
If you can, remember to watch it on a big screen at home 📺. You'll see even the makeup is meticulously done!
Plot is apparently really good. Xu Kai does not appear much in the first episode, but his gaze at the end is super captivating. It gets more intense starting from episode 2

Repo from a blogger who attended the event

An advance screening within an 800-meter radius!

Old stories and new case clues intertwine,
making the once peaceful town see undercurrents...
