Title Queen Woo
The trailer was dominated by JCW and he looks mind blowing! It’s amazing how he is able to look like a different person in every show with the same face if that makes sense hahaha…
However I wonder if the makers are using him excessively to create buzz for the show. Obviously I have only read the synopsis disclosed so far but it looks like he will only appear in the beginning of the show. I don’t care I will watch him even if it’s just for few seconds..but for the makers surely they want the viewers to stay hooked even after his character dies. But the trailer mostly featured just him or was I blind to everything else?? 🤪

Atleast we got Best director award congratulations Han dongwook 🥳👏 And I like how he specially thanks JI…
The director has always acknowledged his contribution to the overall making of the show from the beginning 👏🏽

It’s not about belittling other nominated actors because JCW was not nominated. The problem lies with the rule…
It still is flawed because what if they probably think it’s worthy or not worthy and then the audience reception to the performance and the drama as a whole is completely opposite. Anyways I hope atleast your theory is actually applied. Many of the dramas are not even completely shot when they start airing. I wonder how effective it would be if it’s applied.

Congratulations to the nominations at Baeksang, very well-deserved. I'm pretty sure JCW was shortlisted as a nominee…
It’s not about belittling other nominated actors because JCW was not nominated. The problem lies with the rule where they include incomplete dramas..if they have a date cut off it should be applied to all completed dramas up to that date and the incomplete dramas should be eligible next year so all get a fair chance. There could be incomplete drama performances now which probably don’t seem that great but when the series is complete and you watch it as a whole it may probably be worthy enough to be nominated. But as per current rule this never gets a chance this year or the following year. How bizarre is this!

I had a very high expectations that jcw will get nominated for his performance in WOE but he didn't .I am very…
I would have still understood if he hadn’t won but to say that he didn’t even qualify as one of the top 5 performances of the year is just baffling!

Baeksang 🔫 you rigged
Can he be considered for Daesang if he’s not nominated?

I understand that Samdal is clueless about the changes in Jeju since she hasn’t been there since years, but…
If he is so much in love with Samdal can’t he see that she’s madly in love with YongPil? If he was so much in love why didn’t he go to Seoul to meet her once he made it big??

I understand that Samdal is clueless about the changes in Jeju since she hasn’t been there since years, but why is Sangdo clueless? Wasn’t he staying in Jeju always? Is he living under a rock?

I feel JCW looks very heavily made up in the show. He is so so handsome and is not even playing younger than his age..he could even play younger without that much makeup then why??

I think she mostly wanted him to stop cause she saw how badly it affected him and was changing? I think she wanted…
Maybe not understanding her was what the director intended lol. Both Gicheol and Junmo ask her intentions directly and she doesn’t give a straight reply to either of them. But what all this resulted in is that people feel more sympathetic towards HR than EJ even though she was a criminal. Atleast we know that in the end HR actually liked Junmo.

I think the problem is EJ’s character arc is never explained. Nor is her character well developed. Junmo outright asks her how has she helped and she has nothing to say. She is supposedly a trained cop but she was a total damsel in distress in the epi 9 scene. I don’t know what was going on in her mind in the promotion scene. In the end her character was a blur for me.

I think her involvement in the mission affected him the most. Would he be so far gone if she wasn’t a part of it? The tragedy is her history with KC couldn’t be helped. She wanted him to stop but she too didn’t stop when he begged her to. Junmo couldn’t have stopped as his whole existence in KC world was a lie. Stopping would mean blowing his cover and getting killed or worse putting EJ in danger too if his cover gets blown. Maybe even she was so far involved by then that her backing out could put Junmo at risk too. I still feel that after the blood bath in epi 9 maybe she could have used that as an excuse and broken off with KC or something. For Junmo, he had no way out alive unless he completed the investigation successfully.

Great summary. I agree. I feel like her involvement made him hate himself and her as well, because in order to…
The prosecutor in his first meeting with Junmo referred to Dohyung as someone who mentored Junmo in his younger days and encouraged him to become a cop instead of going astray. That’s why Junmo was so shaken with his death. He had a personal attachment to him. He sure hated the prosecutor.

Aah I sure hope so lol. But I doubt it, to him being a cop is important and his mentor also said so in his last words to him.

Yeah I just couldn’t get a read on her in the promotion scene. I don’t know if it was bad direction or she didn’t act it well or maybe I’m not getting it lol. Junmo however clearly looked bitter and resentful. They showed more character development for HR than for EJ who was supposedly one of the main leads

Out of all of the characters I felt saddest for Junmo. He was an upright cop desperate to lead an honest life and gain respect despite his shitty background. It’s not greed just a basic need. Going undercover was just a job for him to reach this goal and it went all wrong when he realised his wife was personally involved. Not blaming EJ there, just terrible luck for both of them. But their marriage had cracks even before. Not due to lack of love but just love is not enough. EJ comes from a family of accomplished cops and she herself is growing steadily in her career. I don’t think she could comprehend Junmo’s feelings of inadequacy nor did he communicate to her because he felt inferior not just to her family but to her too. The only thing that kept him secure in the marriage was her love and when he saw that wavering too with KC coming in the picture he lost the last bit of faith in their marriage. I don’t think he doubted her based on her meetings with him but he felt insecure about their history as to him it represented a deeper connection than he himself shared with EJ. He saw that KC was genuinely in love with her. Maybe KC was just a childhood crush for her so she didn’t feel the need to talk about the past with Junmo. But in the end why did she ask Junmo to stop? And how did she think he could stop even if he wanted to? Did he just go to KC and say oh I don’t want to do this anymore? And why did she want him to stop? Isn’t she a cop? Didn’t she want the investigation to succeed now that they have worked so hard for it? The investigation was not just about KC but it included drug cartels from other countries too. However KC could have stopped when she told him to. On top of everything Junmo lost his mentor too and his lone walk from the cemetery showed how truly alone he is.

Title The Worst of Evil Spoiler
The scene where all main characters meet for a drink is where I think Junmo started realising his marriage is probably over. Inspite of being there as Kwon Seungho and Gicheol having introduced him and Haeryeon as a couple he still wanted to somehow ensure that Euijeong doesn’t misunderstand. But Euijeong was openly being affectionate to Gicheol in front of him. In the past she only had eyes for Junmo when he was around but he noticed things had changed for her. She may not be in love with Gicheol but she was not as detached as she would like him to believe. She was so far gone she didn’t even realise she was wearing the necklace Gicheol gave her when she went to meet Junmo but he noticed it. The first time Junmo asked her over the phone about her connection with Gicheol after their first meeting, she told him he was just someone she knew from high school, was that true though? On the other hand, what Junmo felt for Haeryeon as he got to know her is empathy as she really didn’t get a chance to make the right choice in life. Maybe in an ideal situation it would have led to something more who knows. In that sense, he even let Gicheol escape because he could in some ways relate to him coming from a similar background and having spent so much time together. If Haeryeon had come back with a gun instead of Gicheol and tried to harm Euijeong or something Junmo would have reacted the same way he did with Gicheol. He gave an out to both Gicheol and Haeryeon who were both betrayed but Gicheol made the wrong choice again.

I don’t want to rant about the story, characters, ending etc etc…
This is just an appreciation post for all the actors. From cute Yongdae to the actor who played Mingu (the fact that we all hated him so much proves the actor did his job well) to Chief Seo to Jungbae to Euijeong. Everyone has given a sincere performance and you can literally feel their hard work in every scene they appear in.
Wi Ha Jun was so amazing as Gicheol. Even in the character’s worst or sloppiest moments he still made Gicheol look human and believable. It’s not easy to stand tall next to someone like JCW and he managed it beautifully.
I’m beginning to wonder if JCW is human. Words fail me, he was so brilliant in this series! Whether he’s hacking away or just blinking and doing nothing else, he was a sight to behold. He really deserves all the success and accolades and more!
