Wow! This was so good I had to look at it twice already! I’m not even mad that it is not a bl. We needed two episodes a week. I know I wasnt the only one screaming at the tv!
Dew, Gun and Pond together …..I am loving this already. Get ready for a fun ride with plenty of chills and thrills. Awesome supporting cast. I am all in!
I just finished this and my emotions are all over the place. This was such a beautiful and profound love story. At the same time it tugs at your heart. It is a story of two gay men but it is so much more. It is really about finding something that gives your life meaning and purpose. It is about family in the purest sense. And it is painfully realistic. If you are looking for a fictional fairy tale ending this may not be for you. When I think of Ryota I am reminded of my own lost love. One moment you are happily looking forward to seeing one another and then the phone rings and your world is turned upside down. Kudos to the mls and to the actress that played the mother. As I said I have mixed feelings at this time. I am sad but at the same time I am glad the two experienced true love and the three were a family. Before my love passed away his wish was for his mother to have a headstone on her grave. He had even picked out the one he liked. I fulfilled that wish for him. Kosuke does what he knows Ryuta would want him to do for his mother. The fact that this was based on the author’s actual life makes it even that much more heartfelt.
I love the first episode and the cast includes some of my favorites but I must admit I miss my Gun. Still, I am all in for the ride. Get ready for Monday fun.
I'm probably even older than you, I'm a Xennial, and while I don't run necessarily from the shows that embodies…
Thank you. ITSAY is also one of my favorites. We may be from another generation but we can still empathize and relate to the struggles of growing up. Take care.
Just love love love every couple. This episode was so fun to watch. I thought watching so many couples would get tiring but it had actually been so much fun. I cannot believe next week is the end.
Short and sweet. For an independent company they always know how to make the most of every scene. They pack more into eight short episodes than some other companies pack into 12 longer episodes. The obvious tension involving one who is comfortable with his sexuality and one who is coming to terms with his sexuality is done in such a carefully orchestrated way. It is almost poetic. I hope one day this company will obtain the financial backing to produce longer works. The potential is certainly there. I even liked the ending. It reminded me of my own college days when relationships ended and overlapped during that acceptance and transition period. Personally I feel this warrants a higher rating but I do understand how some may have a feeling that it leaves so many unanswered questions. Maybe we will get a part 2.
Wow! Now that is what I call a finale! From start to finish it kept us on our toes and clued to our seats! It did not skip a beat! And the icing on the cake….I got my happy ending and a kiss too! Take care!
"From a monetary point of view, it makes sense that they added a straight couple to the mix to make it more 'palatable'…
I must agree with you. I was really getting into the storyline until the focus seemed to shift somewhat and I could sense where this was headed. I guess when I am a bl purist if there is such a label. When I see bl that is what I want. I really find the girlfriend foil annoying. So at this point I will probably wait until the series ends and then decide if it is worth my time to binge watch. I will keep reading the comment section for any details that may change my mind. Enjoy.
Why this low rating...there is only one episode released so far and this episode was quite good so far....the…
It seems that on this site if the actors are less known the ratings are not as high. So far I am enjoying it. I will hang in there. It is only 7 episodes.
I want to start with a disclaimer….I am what is labeled a millennial which is a nice way of saying I am old. I stumbled upon the bl genre after the death of my husband and during Covid. That was almost seven years ago and during that time I have watched over 100 bls. Some were mediocre, some were just okay , some held my interest enough to get on my rewatch list and some I consider as creative and artistic gems. Gel Boys falls in that last category. I am so impressed by its every component….the acting, the script writing, the storyline, the music, the cinematography, the setting, the directing….every piece molded together to form one of the best bls I have seen. I am so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. The cover was even intimidating. I generally avoid any thing which embodies memes, instagram, tik tok, computer games, cell phones or hip hop. But when I saw it had a 8.7 rating I had to check it out. Once I got pass the first two episodes which laid the foundation and I got over the culture shock I could not stop watching. It painted a picture of what it is like to be young and to feel all the emotions that come with wanting to love and wanting to be loved and having to deal with rejection and pain and all the insecurities that come with love and loss. Added to the pot was the same sex component but this was handled so skillfully and with no stereotypical cliches. Our main characters were living their truth and it seemed so natural and so authentic. They were unapologetically gay from head to toe. And their circle of friends were composed of males, females, heterosexuals, bisexuals, homosexuals and not an eyebrow was raised. It was what it was and I found that so refreshing. Even casting a foreigner as a main character in a thai bl further enhanced the underlying theme of acceptance and tolerance. This is the generation where social media is a major component in every day life and how people communicate. Like it or not that is reality. I admit I had to struggle to keep up with the memes and jargon. But it was worth it! This series had me laughing one moment and crying the next. I really did not know who was going to end up with whom until the very last sequence. I got the happy ending I hoped for and I felt the ending was not rushed or contrived. It felt right. This will definitely go on my rewatch list.
she cheated on him and came back!? and he didn't know!? what happened at the end to her !? thank you, I hate to…
No bother. I absolutely agree. I was even upset with the daughter because even though she told the father about her mom having a boyfriend she also seemed to side with the mom. I just cannot get with cheating. I had a cousin who cheated on her husband. Her husband was alot like the Eagle brother. When I found out I was so upset with her. It did not matter that we were family.
I did it! I hung in there and finished it! Kudos to Earth, Mix and Krit. They really made this fun to watch. I never could get past the second episode of the Japanese original version. I love that Earth and Mix went for it and chose a lighthearted, crazy comedy after Moonlight Chicken. I got the ending I wanted so all is well in my bl world. Next is Only Friends Dream On which is completely different than Ossan’s Love and Moonlight Chicken. With Joss/Fluke and Aou/ Boom I just cant wait.

Yes she has been taking his money all these years and only came back to divorce him and get alimony. He is angry and hurt which is understandable. From the previews it looks like she has no remorse and still may be trying to get whatever money she can.
The only criticism I have is with the length. I would have liked it to be at least 8 episodes. I applaud how the subject of mental health and personality disassociation was handled. Coupled with the subject of sexual identity and same sex relationship this was a very challenging storyline. Kudos to the actors for their portrayals. The second couple was also interesting and I would have liked to know more about them. This is my second time watching and I still find it to be a short but beautiful story of love and acceptance.
would want him to do for his mother. The fact that this was based on the author’s actual life makes it even that much more heartfelt.
