More news from the ratings and review world. On IDMB, Love Your Enemy has a 9.4 rating. That is huge. On that largest of worldwide platforms, a movie or drama over 7 is considered good and over 8 it is considered excellent.
This drama is rocking!! The viewership with Nielson Korea rose from 3.48 to 6.44. In Seoul it rose from 4.006 to 7.117. Almost doubled in viewership. On Viki it is still holding on to a 9.8 rating. So for you posters who trying to diss this drama -- it isn't working!!!
Glad to see that MDL has moved our teen version of the MC up from guest/cameo appearance to supporting cast. However, they still put them at the very bottom of the cast list? Wikipedia has it right. There they are listed in the main lead category each under their senior version.
The actress looks promising yes. she acts better in this that the FL (older character version)
I am a ardent, unabashed fan of Oh Yeju ever since she was the Crown Princess in Under the Queens Umbrella so I certainly agree with praise she is getting here. Yet I would like to say a word in favor of the FL. In episode 2 when she actually dresses up a little she indeed looks like the 30 something version of her teen counterpart and, in this episode she displays fiery temper that her younger version displayed. Both the leads were able to convince me that they were indeed the same people who were in high school together. Now to do that takes some skill as an actor.
It could be that Oh Yeju lights up the screen so much that she is a tough act to follow. The same goes with Hong Ming Ki. This has to be break through roles for both of them. They are going to be force to be reckoned with both the visuals and their acting in the future. It is a no brainer for me. Put them as a lead in any drama and it will be a success and make lots of money!
I don't know what is up with this rating on MDL, but right now on Viki it is at 9.8 which is about as high as a drama gets on that platform. Of course, it may drop some over the next couple of weeks, but I bet it will settle into the 9.4 to 9.6 range.
Frankly, I think it is unfair to say that Hong Min Ki and Oh Yeju are only making guest appearances in this drama. Isn't a guest appearances only limited to one or two scenes? Perhaps a total of about 5 to 15 minutes. Moon Sangmin made a guest appearance. Even the Director of this fine drama said that there were lots of teen scenes. Heck, their story is vital to understanding what is going on with the adults. If this is MDL, they should fix this! At least they should be listed as supporting cast members.
For the past week I have been watching Gangnam B Side where Oh Yeju plays the daughter of a cop. There she is mentally ill, depressed to the point of being suicidal, and perhaps addicted to drugs. And here we see the top student who downright ethereal in terms of beauty! That is a lot to wrap your head around.
Really good drama. First episode was skillfully woven between the ML's Highschool years and as mature adults. Storyline was easy to follow and grabbed my interest. The visuals for both the young version of our MC and the 30's version was stunning. Someone posted below that they though this was boring. Sorry I disagree!!
And one more thing, Oh Yeju and Hong Min Ki need to have a drama of their own as the MC.
I must say, I send out condolences to the Bibi fans who were hoping for a romance to bloom in Gangnam. It was a shock! I sincerely hope that Bibi and JCW are in a drama where they can have a happy ending! However I do think it is a bridge too far to expect that she survived and will appear in the end.
However, I take exception to the anger directed at Ye Seo on this site. Let's remember how close they were and how each credited the other for saving their life. I for one, in this drama, don't believe that Jaehee gave her life for Ye Seo in vain. In her life perhaps the best thing she did was to lift her little sister up (remember they were as close as sisters) and made her strong. Ye Seo is not ruining her life in Gangdom, she is there on mission! Can't you see it? She is there is to avenge Jaehee and bring her justice. So lighten up on pretty little Yeo So.
Oh Yeju who plays the young Yun Ji Won just posted a picture on her Instagram site. All I can say is she is flawless according to the Korean Beauty Standards: double eyelids - check, big eyes - check, slightly arched or straight eyebrows - check, pale skin - check, clear skin - check, v shaped, sharp jaw line - check, slim face - check, slender - check, over 5'6" tall - check -, slim nose with high bridge - check. I could go on. Today is National Princess Day in Korea and this girl is claiming her title.
I love a drama that not only leaves cliff hangers, but also has unanswered questions that drive you crazy as you wait six days for the next episode. For me, I have all sorts of unanswered question about the relationship between Kang Yeo Seo and Jenny. Why are they so close? Was Jenny the one who saved her from being bullied, rather than her absentee parents. How deep did Jenny allow Yeo Seo to enter into the this dark, dark world?
In addition just who kidnapped Yeo Seo? Was it a unknown power in the police or prosecutors? Or was a part of the Gangnam underworld who somehow knew about Dongu's daughter?
Overall, I have to say this drama is on fire! The whole cast is stellar. Bring on episodes 5 and 6.
It was quite eye opening watching Ou Yeju as the disturbed and troubled teenager in this drama vs the happy and carefree Crown Princess in Under the Queens Umbrella. Good for her for refusing to type cast! In this drama she is proving herself being quite the actress.
It seems that she, with that tattoo was connected to and maybe even becoming one of Yun Gil's children. What in the world happened at school? How did she get involved with Jenny? And what is going to happen when Kang Dong U learns of the connection? I have no idea but I expect that he is going to be targeted big time through Yea So. Good drama.
I believe that Oh Yeju is doing more than just a guest role. In the D she is playing the teenage version of Yun Ji Wan and Hong Mingi is doing the same for Seak Ji Wan. That part of their relationship is important in understanding their overall story. It is going to take more than just a fleeting appearance of 15 minutes in one or two episodes. In short she needs to be moved from a guest to a full supporting role and mdl needs to get H M as part of the cast.
By the way, Oh Yeju is going to be one of the leads in the final installment of MBC's Drama Special entitled The Soles are Hot and Park Joon Hwa brought in a coffee truck to support Oh Yeju during the filming.
Word is out that Joy may be leaving SM Entertainment and go with management that concentrates on acting. I have mixed feelings since I think she has a wonderful voice. Hope she can continue to spread her beauty and talent in both worlds -- stage and screen.

But more than that it is great casting because there is another flawless beauty in this drama -- Jung Yu Mi! I am going to post an old picture of her when she was in her twenties and this new pick from Oh Yeju from today. Boy do they look alike!! Here are the picks: https://x.com/juuo_s2/status/1858481231865733287/photo/1

Boy, Seok Ji Won is screws this up -- bigtime. But that is why this is going to be a great drama.
