I have to believe that as more people watch this JD, it will continue to rise in MDL. A couple of days ago it was at 8.1 and now it is at 8.2. Now I know that 8.2 is a good score, but this deserves to go higher.
I think today is the final episode. There is a lot of closure that points to the next chapter. What a cute, innocent drama. I am really looking forward to the 10 years later story. After all, in the Manga series they get married and have a little girl. And guess what, she loves to tease her Dad.
I look forward each week to a new episode, because for 20 minutes I get lost on a beautiful island, remember my own crushes, and smile for from the first minute to the end of the episode. My goodness when he shyly gave her his second button, and saw her reaction, my eyes teared up.
What a sweet, innocent, pure, and cute little drama. This wonderful JD shows in spades that chemistry doesn't have to be about burning love and kissing scenes. The truth the chemistry that is produced by sweet young girl who has a crush, and a shy boy who is gullible is better and deeper than so many others. Can't wait for episode 7!
They just postponed the opening of Fox Spirit Matchmaker until after April. Call me crazy, but I don't think that they can compete with The Legend of Shen Li.
We have a mega mega hit with this drama. Congrats Zhao Liying and cast. In it's first 25 hours 39 minutes The Legend Shen Li cracked 30000 on the Tencent heat index. The fast drama in it's history to do so.
Well, I see we are up to 8.2 with now 257 users. I may be wrong, and it is just my guess but as the number goes up those stupid 63 users yesterday who tried to tank this will be forgotten! By the time we get to a few thousand users, if this Drama keeps the quality of these first few episodes, I bet we will be above 8.5.
For me, The Legend of Shen Li, is at least as good as, if not better than the last mega wuxia hit -- Love Between Fairy and Devil.
The rating needs to be ignored. Why? Because it is ludicrous. This drama has the hottest opening in the history of the Tencent heat index -- in less than three hours it rose to 28000. To put this into perspective Love You Love My Voice toped out at 26000 and Amidst a Snow Strom of Love toped out at 28000 after about a week of episodes. On Viki it currently is at 9.7. The so called 64 users who have come up with this score must be Zhao Liying haters! That is the only believable explanation.
By the above picture it seems to me that Bibi is not the young daughter type, but the wild side type. Oh Yeju, must be the daughter. Looking forward to this one -- a good thriller with good visuals. I agree with Dramabeans (a top site to watch episode online with subtitles) review of this drama. Here is just a part:

I’m so delighted our OTP got their happily ever after because there’s no one more deserving of it than they are. I liked that the drama respected the relationship they had with their late spouses, and still delivered on a solid second-chance romance between them. The story didn’t even have to jump through hoops to give them a beautiful ending because the foundation for that had already been laid out.
If I had to describe this drama with a word, it’d be “intentional.” This is a well-crafted show with thoughtful writing and plot points that served the story, nuanced characters driven by believable motivations — including prince Jin-sung, whose existence felt real even though he didn’t have a physical presence in the show. Seriously, I can almost picture him in my head. And the cinematography? Chef’s kiss! Every shot was deliberate, and every scene told a story. You could literally just pause at any point to take in the scenery, and it feels like you’re right there in Joseon breathing the same air."

You are comparing Satellite channel drama (TW - tvn) with cable channel / free channel dramas (TM and TSRG)...…
The only thing I am comparing are the Nielsen ratings and MDL ratings. So if I understand your contention, you are alleging that the Nielsen ratings are completely meaningless and bogus when it comes to TVN dramas? I respect your opinion but I just don't agree with it.
The final Korean ratings are in and TM finished with 5.8 -- episode 16 was the highest. It had an average of 4.2. To put this into context, it had higher rating than Twinkling Watermelon's 3.6 (9.2 on MDL) and The Secret Romantic Guesthouse which had 3.9 (8.1 on MDL). Let me be clear I loved all three dramas but I do think that both TSRG and TM deserved better from MDL.
Don't be surprised if TM is put on the whole world wide Netflix platform soon. Rowoon is one of their favorite's. And, importantly, I believe that we are going to see big things from Oh Yeju, Park Ji Won, and Jung Bo Min in the future. I believe that nice, well deserved, Female Leading roles are in their near future.

Oh well, it is easy to see past the 7.8 on MDL. The Nielsen rating for episode 15 was 5.4 percent. It has been number one in it's time slot on Mondays and Tuesdays in Korea for weeks. Perhaps folks should remember that it always beat Twinkling Watermelons in the Korean ratings, even though TW had a 9.2 on MDL(the 9th highest score in MDL history) and even a 9.8 on Viki. I predict that soon it will be on the world wide Netflix platform. Right now it is only on Netflix in Korea. This is not to trash TW -- it was a very good D -- but to make the point that The Matchmakers is holding it's own.
