I think, the comedy part aside, when they are serious mode, the way they emote is accurate for a drama portrayal, since not emoting at all or being too ice cold would tire people out, specially because in the novel, we could read their complex, complicated emotions, inner feelings & monologues & desires, but in the drama, if they don't emote enough, that isn't conveyed at all. But yeah, well I totally would love if Ziyuan were colder to Chengen for heaven's sake, hoping she returns her the equivalent amount of slap in exchange for the kindness she's showing her right now.

Oh that has already started though, revenge or in other better word justice is cooking. Btw, the drama was comedy coded in the beginning but all the cases they solve & all the steps they take are the set up ladder to her revenge justice to begin with.

He tampered with the imperial edict that ordered to kill Ziyuan too & instead had her sent to Mount Tai as a prisoner, he faked the death of Ziyuan's little brother & raised him with the best teachings, resources & affection. As for proving the innocence, its not that easy at all when everything is buried by the emperor but he later does help prove after years & years of collecting hidden proofs. Even if Ziyuan never came back he'd find his ways to prove the innocence of the Di Clan. Let's see how much of it stays in the drama though.

Yes Di Ziyuan (Anle) was cold & indifferent to Chengen in novel but she didn't try or want to kill her. She had enough empathy for her to spare her the kindness & LMX never tried to go on a killing spree either in the novel so yeah, they showed her (Anle) sympathy emoted in the drama but her personality & intention of not sacrificing innocent lives to get her Di Clan the justice remains the same & resolute.

He is a righteous & upright person and its okay to prefer the cunning type like LMX but its very unfair to say righteous people have less smarts than cunning people in general.
