After all these years and after watching so many dramas, there's truly nothing like The Long Ballad, Li ChangGe & Ashina Sun.
I believe for people who found this treasure & cherished it, it is something that gives you eternal yearning for it and even if you find something else to love, you eventually come back to feel how TLB is one in a million. And nothing else, but TLB feels like home.
Nam Haneul & Yeo Jeongwoo are the best thing that happened in 2024. The last ep just left such a beautiful feeling like a pleasant ocean breeze embracing you & leaving a very good feeling.
Loved this to pieces. Thank you Doctor Slump. Ha Neul. Jeongwoo. Bada. Samchun. Eomma. You will be missed.
The only way to explain the high rating of this drama is because Hyung Sik/other actors fan bases. We have seen…
Couldn't even watch Marry my husband after 4 eps yet because I keep re-watching Doctor Slump, which speaks volumes already. Also, do you think only Hyung Sik is acting in this drama? You're forgetting the Queen Shin Hye. Two gems of K-ent slaying & healing millions of hearts together, except yours, I guess. Sip the kind of tea you prefer, who's stopping you?
We are not looking down on czy at all. We just think that he look is so young for Reba mature face. Reba have…
I don't think "mature face" is the right adjective for Dilraba's visuals. Rather, you could say, she has a superior kind of aura & beauty. Although I don't understand the fight just from speculations without even seeing the chemistry first, without even confirmation from the casts themselves lol. Mind you, one of the best pairings and chemistry of Dilraba, till this day remains with Wu Lei, who's a lot younger than Chen Zheyuan is. I know you didn't like the pairing because you of the ML being younger, but majority love the pairing like crazy up until this day, including me haha
So she has another rumored drama now called Chang ling again from iQiyi. ML rumored for his one is Chen Zhe Yuan.…
Chang Ling's synopsis in MDL had been enticing me a lot since way back, but wasn't Liu Yifei the FL for Chang Ling? I really want Dilraba to do Iqiyi projects now, they have been throwing some excellent productions.
Same tbh. I can't help but regret that they chose to erase so much from the novel which would've landed a sure…
I'd say it has nothing to do with the ending. Rather it has to do with the complete mess by screen writers who tried to be smart by playing with the script but dumbed down an intelligent serious novel. Speaking of which, they did the most injustice to the main titular character out of everyone. As an avid fan of the novel, I was traumatized lol if you read the thread I wrote for the Ren Anle/ Di Ziyuan vs Li ChangGe, you'll know. But the excellent acting and portrayal of Dilraba with whatever the script provided is still the silver lining to me.
unpopular opinion but i really like this show despite its low rating. i still feel excitement every rewatch and…
Same tbh. I can't help but regret that they chose to erase so much from the novel which would've landed a sure 9.0 in MDL standards, and also a more critically acclaimed success rather than just another hit drama. But I still haven't got over the chemistry between Dilraba and Gong Jun and their excellent portrayal and I miss this drama every now and then because it appeals to me so much more than the higher rated ones which I can't but drop!!!
But honestly though, it deserves an 8.0-8.5 in MDL standards though. Its severely down-rated.

I agree but about this being an idol drama & NIF being a serious one, well its because they chose the route to adapt TLOA, a serious novel as an unserious one, I believe. Well, for the most part, what drove me was the spectacular performance of both Dilraba & Gong Jun. I could get the criticism thrown at the story and production but totally would disagree with anyone saying the leads gave a lackluster performance with no chemistry. I still haven't moved on from their chemistry lol. Even with all the impactful & beautiful scenes erased, they have such an awesome chemistry & delivered over 100%, of course it leaves me wondering what they would deliver if those were included.
@Titania .... My fellow drama mate.... Your comment just struck every chord in my soul... every time.... I wish…
Tbh, I was so traumatized after the drama, I ignored mdl. Because the adaptation did no justice to the most epic heroine of a novel, of all time for me. All this, only because the production chose the best novel to give a trash adaptation which only failed because of the spectacular acting & chemistry of the cast. What she gave back in return, the humongous amount, none of it was shown.

If it feels like their love was unequal & Ziyuan did not love Han Ye as much as he did, it was YET again because they erased all the ACTIONS she TOOK for Han Ye. She was going to destroy a dynasty for Han Ye, and she also compromised to take the tougher route of saving that dynasty for Han Ye. The fire scene in the drama has turned into Han Ye saving Anle when it was Anle saving Han Ye in the novel, they cut off Ziyuan transferring all her internal power to Han Ye after he falls off the cliff when she trained to gain all that power for her revenge, they erased Ziyuan stopping Han Ye's marriage desperately & revealing her move in advance to block the marriage when it wasn't even ready yet, they did not give the angst that was DUE but gave us Ziyuan avoiding him for indefinite period for no reason in the drama when they whitewashed Han Ye's father as well. The reason some people found Han Ye's love as obsession & nothing also is because of the injustice the writing did. I don't think taking over the throne is or should be a taboo since there's so many dramas like that, & so many darker, angstier, grittier writing. Its just the one & the same fact, the script writing & production turned a Nirvana in Fire like masterpiece to a drama which can be irrefutably criticized by too many people. Idk why nobody bothered to respect such a masterpiece novel & the most powerful female character in history just never got the chance to show.

To be honest, it wasn't Dilraba who softened Di Ziyuan/ Ren Anle's role, it wasn't Gong Jun who softened Han Ye. It was just a bullshit attempt from the scriptwriters & production at adapting a masterpiece & trying to landing a hit with spectacular lead actors chosen to play them even when they CUT down their most important scenarios where they could've showcased finesse in acting. The drama can be entertaining if considered an alternate universe, but mind you, the drama completely stripped the characters of their layered complexity, intelligence & calibers. And the biggest injustice they did was erasing Di Zi Yuan, the one whose legend it should be about. Also, they created a joke of a villain & erased the complex, layered villainy of the true villains. I just think, its only because the main leads delivered an awesome performance that it was enjoyable to the extent that it was.
I think its fair to say we saw these episodes pretty differently! Out of interest, in the novel what was the motivation…
This scenario did not that in the novel. Conquering the cities were already their mission in the war and Ziyuan, Anning & Han Ye each were commanders of armies to take back several cities. From the very beginning, Di Ziyuan joined the war with her Di army & accumulated insaen battle exploits that increased her prestige among the people leading to the emperor's jealousy & wrath.
As for the drama, LMX's fake death made it look like she conquered all cities impulsively through that motivation of rage but actually, what I interpreted was she actually metamorphosed to her real closed, calculating & ambitious self who has the drive for conquering the cities in calm & cool head.

Queen Shin Hye & her vitamin Hyung Sik, come heal my heart, quick! :')
