Episodes 3 and 4 were definitely a step up from the first two. Having Yoo Ji-tae and Lee Joon-hyuk in the mix playing rather dubious characters certainly helps makes things interesting. Otherwise the show was pretty generic to begin with. This is really an ideas show rather than about characters. It is about the battle of ideas and a propaganda war over crime. There are a lot of bad people who get off scot free or with a slap on the wrist so what are the cops doing? What's the criminal justice system up to? Instead it's become about the vigilante. He's become an idea. The whole point of his crusade highlighting the failures of the system but now it's about him. He's now a potent symbol -- a champion of justice in the eyes of the people -- rather than an outlaw taking matters into his own hands.
My final thoughts about the show. "Unless they’ve been living under a rock all this time, anyone over the age of 25 is likely to have heard of Nietzsche’s cautionary line about those who battle monsters and stare into the abyss. It has a habit of popping up in crime K dramas especially the ones with the words “evil” or “darkness” in their titles. Evillive is tragic tale about one man’s gradual descent into the pit of hell itself. It isn’t the love of money necessarily that drives him there although the prospect of more wealth has its attractions. Temptations abound but not everyone succumbs. Simply put, Han Dong-soo is a man exhausted from the existential threat posed by corrupt politicians and psychopathic gangsters."
Acting is just wow, but the ending is annoyingly predictable! I wish it was a bit different than this.
Is it predictable or is it logical? Unpredictability for unpredictability's sake is not always a good thing. The show could have ended logically in one of two possible ways.
It's okay. Watchable. It's not anything we haven't seen before in that superhero-crime category. It's more or less Korea's answer to Daredevil or Punisher. Yoo Ji-tae seems to have bulked up for his role.
This drama is a showcase in good execution (the cast is stellar) but is admittedly a marathon. It's meticulous, well-researched but there's a lot of stuff in there that probably don't need to be in it. It had the potential to be as popular as the K drama, Hospital Playlist but unfortunately lacks HP's economy. A pity because the show has a lot of heart (no pun intended) and life's lessons. The patient stories are beautifully woven into the fabric of a larger story regarding the limitations of medicine. Mark's character Zhou Xiaofeng was probably my favourite.
when I see synopsis with 3 "genius" male doctors competing professionally and personally dancing around 3 female…
That doesn't say much about the show at all. In fact, it's an inaccurate characterization. There are really only 2 geniuses -- one teacher and the other a student with very different viewpoints on how medicine should be practised. But it's about a complex arrogant man, the strive for perfection and the limitations of medicine.
Fully translated news :From the perspective of the broadcasting stations, the decision to air once a week is a…
It's a bad trade-off it seems to me especially when there's so much competition out there on other streaming platforms . It's not just other K dramas they have to compete with. There are also C, J, Thai and Taiwanese dramas. People will do what they want to do regardless. I stopped at Episode 4 and I'm waiting for the rest of the episodes to drop before continuing on Prime. The worst thing is that people aren't talking about this show (except to complain about the scheduling) because of the one episode a week schedule -- and it's not consistently one episode a week either with other scheduling conflicts.
Compare that with D+ releasing 12 episodes of The Worst of Evil in one month.
is this worth watching? i watched ep 1 and wasn't really hooked, so i wonder if it's worth continuing it considering…
Do you like the genre? If you do keep watching. It takes a couple of episodes to get going. Try another episode if you have the time. I always give it the 4 episode test unless it's obviously awful.
it’s just how it was during those period..she’s even stronger than most females back then..
But she did know. The slave trader told her that her husband had abandoned her and laughed in her face. And also she did try to resist Jang-hyeon when he cozied up to her.
Look, I'm not a fan of adultery in dramas but it's important to get the facts right.

A pity about the lack of good subs too.

Romance is a very small part of the show.

Fantastic cast. A really good script too.
