It's somewhat disappointing that K rom coms are now largely parodies of the genre. This one reminded me of Beating Again to some degree. Persevering for Kim Young-kwang who doesn't do too many of these. It's a nice change from seeing him play villains and antiheroes.

So far so good. I'm enjoying the quirkiness of everything especially the grumpy MLs being quietly but surely brought to heel by a vivacious FL. Reminds me of J & K drama romances of a bygone era. Very whimsical.
It's nice to be reminded of what a great actor Kim Seon-ho is. Those nuanced shifts in his expressions showing how he's falling for her is what I remember most about his performances.

Overall this was pretty binge worthy. Zhao Jinmai, as always is terrific and imbued her role with so much likeability. Among the master-apprentice romances, this is one of the better ones. I appreciate the choice of actor for the male lead character -- played with a nice mix of gravitas and youthful energy. Unfortunately the last episode was put together in typical C drama fashion of separating the main couple half an hour before the end then bringing them back together in haste at the 11th hour.
Otherwise, a well-produced workplace drama with plenty of thrills.

The first two Medical Examiner Doctor Qin series, Ordinary Greatness with Zhang Ruoyun also, Reborn, Zhan Zhao Adventures, Under the Microscope, Ripe Town, The Vendetta of An, The Longest Day in Chang'an, Reborn (2020).
These are just ones I can remember from my watchlist.

There are police procedurals and detective shows that don't have romance.

It'a a trainwreck undoubtedly. But he's a man used to getting his own way.

This is such a good show. A really well-written workplace drama with a capable driven FL. I appreciate how we are shown how good she is rather than be told by other characters that she's good at her job. And what a great ML as well.
This is also a terrific slow burn romance. Zhao Jinmai really has the midas touch.

Good Lord! It's worst than I thought! Luan Nian has been reduced to a full-time dog-sitter! I had been under the impression that he was just the boss with benefits.
Someone tell me that this yo-yo relationship has an end!

This drama is unbelievably good. Everything about it is pitch perfect. It's unusually balanced for a C drama. It doesn't feel like a soap opera even though it's a family drama and it doesn't feel like propaganda either even if it features the lowest of the low. A masterclass in plotting and storytelling.
Easily the best thing Liu Xueyi and Tan Songyan have ever done.

Oh really? They're in bankruptcy? What a shame. They made quite a few of my favourite K dramas.

This is a terrific show on many fronts. Some of it reminds me of The Art of Negotiation but there's a lot of it about what leadership looks like and building a team. What the lottery win does for Eun-tae is that it gives him a safety net to rock the boat a little but also the right perspective re: his value to the company. He is a valued staff member which is why he's given "difficult" projects. At the start we see that he works hard but not necessarily smartly. Yes, the buck stops with him but he needs to learn to delegate and use his people well according to their abilities. Just as his direct supervisor uses him because he knows Eun-tae will rise to the challenge.
This is why it's important to build a good reputation and to push back gently from time to time with solutions.

Man, this show is painfully relatable. I came here for Lee Jun-hyuk and yes, he does make interesting script choices. The professional corporate slave storyline hits very close to home. Especially when the powers that be hand down bad policies that they expect the bottom feeders to implement. The philosophy of "if you want something done, give it to a busy person" also resonates.

Honestly the pacing doesn't get any better. I couldn't finish it even for Jing Boran.

I called it early and the show didn't let us down. For those of us who love a more historically grounded period show, this was a gift. Most C dramas these days are largely trope driven but this one is perhaps one of the more character driven shows to get come out this year. Well-constructed antagonists as well as wonderful but flawed protagonists.

In the end the Yu family were their own worst enemy. Evil is not the absence of good per se but the corruption of the good. They took every virtue and exploited it for their own purposes. How much evil was perpetrated in the name of filial piety in this show?! Not just by them too. Overreach and greed was their undoing. They couldn't stop or help themselves so in the end they had to be stopped. They were powerful and in the end that power destroyed them from within first. The cracks were already showing with their only progeny -- an utter disappointment from start to finish. I disagree with Tingyun when she says that Lady Yu was just an ornament for her husband. Lady Yu loved being at the centre of everything and in control of her pawns. She was addicted to power as much as her husband and wasn't afraid to use it in service of transcient wealth and glory.

Different tastes I imagine.
For me Pursuit of Jade was good for about 15 episodes and then it became mediocre in the middle. The last 10 episodes were an absolute mess. The political stuff was written by a child.
