Definitely one of the better C dramas this year helped by a decent script. The second half was especially good. Cheng Yi was born to be in historical dramas most especially wuxia. Methinks this role was written for him. The elegance with which he executes his maneuvers are a highlight. It's a great role -- a seeming antihero trickster. Li Xiangyi at his peak must have been something else if he's able to kick ass with less than 10% of his original strength. But Superman needs kryptonite. I think Joseph is also well suited to wuxia. The trio were a delightful combination and I enjoyed their banter for the most part.

Well, it's a 12 episode rom com and these personalities are exaggerated for effect. The writer is playing with a role reversal here largely for humour. Of course your conclusion could be true IF the characters stay static. If however Jin-hong becomes more assertive, and Eun-mi becomes less combative on impulse, that could be an entirely different story. It all depends on the character development or if there's any coming down the pike.
I think it is unfair to hang this disastrous enterprise around the neck of the actors. Everything wrong begins with the screenplay which is riddled with problems. It breaks all kinds of storytelling rules. In fact, if it weren't for the actors, hardly anyone would be watching it. In fact, I don't even think it would have been made. There are plenty... and I mean plenty... of better revenge/justice dramas out there beginning with the all-time classic Nirvana in Fire. That was over 50 episodes and I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. It's a show I've watched 4 times back to back. The "courtroom scene" in this show was so obviously a bad copy of the one in NiF and it was utterly dull by comparison. The presentation of so-called evidence was so poorly done.
In NiF, everyone knows that the characters are intelligent without being sledgehammered over the head with the fact in every episode. A show is only as smart as the writers.
This show is not a must watch. If you don't watch it, you're not missing anything. Just think about the thirty-something hours of your life you're giving to a show like this. You may like it but there are many C dramas better than this.
I for one am enjoying this show more each week. I think it's getting better and yes, I even like Jin-hong. I like the calming effect he has on Eun-mi. She's a lot less wacky with him around. She always testing him and pushing his buttons. Yet he proves himself to be far more thoughtful than I would be. He's also far more considerate of Jin-hee and says things to her I wish Eun-mi would -- like the fact that she's a good daughter and doing a good job looking after her mother. It's absolutely hilarious that he's such a straight laced guy in contrast to her aggressive combative personality

They aren't always forthcoming of what they think or feel in a given situation because of fear, pride or shame. Misunderstandings ensue. It's quite interesting how everyone not just the mother-daughter duo jumps to conclusions about what the facts are.
I loved the Jin-hee and Jae-won moments in Episode 8. It's amusing and sweet that Jin-hee goes looking for him and tries to draw him out of his shell. He doesn't have much of a social life. Underneath all the barb wire, is a good cop and a kind man in need of a hug.
