Title Not Others
I for one am enjoying this show more each week. I think it's getting better and yes, I even like Jin-hong. I like the calming effect he has on Eun-mi. She's a lot less wacky with him around. She always testing him and pushing his buttons. Yet he proves himself to be far more thoughtful than I would be. He's also far more considerate of Jin-hee and says things to her I wish Eun-mi would -- like the fact that she's a good daughter and doing a good job looking after her mother. It's absolutely hilarious that he's such a straight laced guy in contrast to her aggressive combative personality

The writer does an excellent job of capturing the complexities of the character dynamics in these densely packed episodes. People assume things about each other. They aren't always forthcoming of what they think or feel in a given situation because of fear, pride or shame. Misunderstandings ensue. It's quite interesting how everyone not just the mother-daughter duo jumps to conclusions about what the facts are.

I loved the Jin-hee and Jae-won moments in Episode 8. It's amusing and sweet that Jin-hee goes looking for him and tries to draw him out of his shell. He doesn't have much of a social life. Underneath all the barb wire, is a good cop and a kind man in need of a hug.

Let me spell out why this drama failed. Dilraba was fine when she was flirting as a anle but she went back to…
Nope. This drama failed because it had a terrible script and poor direction. The problems start there. The actors did their best with the slop they were served.

In the current era where people rate 10/10 for all sorts of junk, this must be quite terrible to have been rated…
It's quite terrible. Draggy and boring in most places.

The last 10 episodes have been particularly good in that addictive sort of way. I'm glad that Li Lianhua's identity is finally out in the open especially it's obvious that the cat and mouse game with Fan Duobing can't keep going for obvious reasons. And it's very painful to see Li Lianhua being misunderstood so badly when he's been sacrificing himself over and over again.

In all honesty, Li Lianhua could have minded his own business and kept his nose out of this conspiracy and all the mysteries but his sense of righteous fervour and sense of obligation never left him. His youthful arrogance was taken advantage of by nefarious forces but his heart was always in the right place.

In the latest Mission Impossible movie, there was also a key at the heart of the story. Ethan Hunt had the right idea -- destroy it. Frankly I feel the same about the Ice Pieces. The good guys should just destroy every piece the moment they get their hands on it so no one can unlock that Doomsday Device.

But of course, there won't be much of a story to tell if they did. :P

I suppose sooner or later zombies have to come into it. ;)

I'm glad the Fan Duobing is slowly working out who Li Lianhua might be on his own. Now that he's not busy picking fights left right and centre.

It's really well-written. Every Asian must have their own family stories. The way Jin Hee tries to be accommodating…
As someone who was raised by a Chinese mother and Chinese grandmother, I find many depictions of "Asian" mothers on the rather nutty side. There might be a kernel of truth here and there but yeah... :D

I can accept that as an explanation but not as an excuse for ongoing antisocial behaviour. I'm all for balance here.

Just when you think Eun-mi can't be anymore unreasonable, she somehow manages to top herself. I had to laugh even while I was eye rolling because the person who really had to do the most apologizing ended up being apologized to by everyone. I think we all felt Mi-jeong's frustration acutely. It's clear too that the show doesn't condone Eun-mi's antics and in fact, highlight the fact that Jin-hee and Jin-hong are the adults in the room. That said, Eun-mi needs to do a lot more accommodating of her own. It's clear that she did make some steps forward when Jin-hong suggested more assertively that they go for galbi at the end of the trip. There are plenty of abused people in the world and not all of them turn out like Eun-mi. In fact, the vast majority of them don't.

I actually think this is one of the better written rom coms I've seen in a while because at the very least, it's trying to do something a bit different. The genre has become very tired of late (especially in K dramas) but once in a while a new take comes along and gives it a bit of life. This one does a good job of blending the dysfunctional family dynamics with the crime element without jarring tonal shifts. Moreover the writer offer sharp insights into the psychology of the characters and how the ensuing communication issues play out.

While the first half of Episode 7 had many facepalming moments, a lot of the humour did land for me. And while Jin-hee and Jae-won didn't have a lot of moments together, I liked what the writer did. I enjoyed the hints that both have feelings for each other. It's also surprising how much I miss the classic tsundere male.

Park Sung-hoon has three dramas out this year which probably explains why he's had so little screen time. And I believe he's also filming Squid Game 2.

Xiao Zijin is a petty idiot showing himself to have no political savvy. He's divided the sect and made himself the villain of the piece. Not to mention inadvertently playing into the hands of the enemy.

I think Li Lianhua missed his true calling -- he should have been a grifter or a mentalist. He spins tall tales faster than his sword maneuvers.
"I am your master." LOL.

The dialogue in this show is just music to the ears.

The show's main strength is its characters -- protagonists and antagonists alike. It boasts of well fleshed out characters.

It is ironic indeed that all these people rag on Yun Xiang for his dishonesty, playing his cards close to his chest while they keep things from him.

An antihero trickster male lead. My kind of show. It plods but at least it's different to whatever else is on offer.

I wonder if Gang Qi is an allusion to the Journey to the West. Every time Sun Wukong misbehaves, Tripitaka does his chant and that ring around his head starts to constrict. When Fan Duobing goes down one of his naggy tirades, his neck gets constricted affecting his vocal chords.
LOL. I love it.

Yup. It's repetitive and fillery. It does improve in the 20s but there's still stuff like that all throughout.

I can't get past 2 episode. Need some motivation to continue. The too much childish characters is putting me off.…
It does get serious but the first five episodes were just unbelievably cringey. Even when the show gets quite serious, I can never take it seriously because the writing is so amateurish.
