I'm enjoying S2 just as much as the first. The elements that made the first season great are still present here -- the camaraderie, the struggle to do what's right, the banter and the humour. It's still a very underrated franchise sadly. This was never a straight police procedural for me. It was never about the cases alone but the people especially the cops. It's heartening to see the team dynamics stronger than ever.
The ins and outs of TJ Group add another layer to the storytelling with all the same ethical and moral dilemma as the first. Poor Woo Tae-ho. A once good man who was gradually destroyed by his association with the Cheons. Cheon Na-na is a fascinating character and is turning out to be something of a femme fatale. Her interest in Oh Ji-hyeok seems more complex than first meets the eye. It's more than curiosity animating her interest in him.
I have a question for people who have completed this drama and also A Dream of Splendour. May I know in your honest…
I persevered for 20 episodes and finally gave it up when Love Like the Galaxy came along. I found A Dream of Splendor hard work to be frank. Draggy and talky is what I would say. The leads' romance was fine and probably the highlight of the show but I didn't care for any of the other characters in the show. Apart from the male lead and his father I didn't like how the male characters were written. I like the music and the tea aspects but the actual big story felt like it's been done before. On paper the subject matter should be interesting -- the status of pariah women -- but the execution and storytelling seemed very familiar and laboured.
For some reason I can't fall in love with Chen Xiao like everyone else seems to be able to. :D
Thanks so much. Love your ramblings. I hate noble idiocy as much as you do but bec my mind has been programmed…
It didn't occur to me immediately. It was only when I was trying to join all the dots that the light bulbs came on. Anyway it's just my opinion but I think it's consistent with his more recent trajectory.
My thoughts on both Part 1&2 (*minor spoilers*):This is probably the best written cdramas I have ever watched.…
As someone who also loved the show as a whole, I also thought that they dropped the ball with the last 5 episodes. While it's not the worse ending I've ever experienced in a C drama, it is a shame that they couldn't maintain the same level of quality all the way to the end. I don't think that all of the problems in those last 5 episodes were only due to editing issues. It's clear that the writing also took a bit of a hit.
I also gave it 9/10 because the rest of the drama was so much fun.
Well written. I have that T=shirt too. :) Forgiveness is a funny thing. It takes a level of maturity too really…
I agree with pretty much everything that you've written. It's what I've said as well. I understand where both of them are coming from which is more or less what I said in my blog post. It's not that neither of them are right or wrong. They both made mistakes and it's important to acknowledge that. The reason Zisheng confessed that he had no regrets abandoning Niaoniao is because he felt really guilty for abandoning her and he didn't want to be forgiven by her. That is his most serious mistake. The only lie that mattered. Her mistake (and everyone else's) was accepting that as the truth.
It could be true too that at the time he did it, he didn't think he had any choice so there was no regret if it meant he could protect the Chengs. Of course later in Episode 55 he finally said that he had already regretted leaving her out of the loop when he saw her at Ling Yi's mansion. It's a little bit confusing because these last 5 episodes have so many gaps.
What I don't agree with is the "divorce". I just don't think it was something that was warranted under the circumstances. Both of them gave up so easily on each other which tells me that the foundations weren't very firm in the first place. I know that they both made all kinds of promises to each other in the past. She was disappointed in him and he was disappointed in himself for disappointing her.
You have such a way with words and I appreciate your thoughts on different aspects of how the characters have…
Thank you for understanding so well what I'm trying to communicate. I appreciate it so much. I don't mean to be controversial but I find myself taking contrarian positions apparently. Things that are commonsensical to me don't seem to be for other people. :D

And yes, I'm in love with Oh Ji-hyeok too.

Thanks so much for following me all this time. I'm sure you didn't agree with everything that I said but thanks for taking the time.
