You're welcome. :D I thought a review was warranted because 40 episodes is a huge commitment for most people.

If they cut out a lot of the behind the scenes police activities (who really cares about what the brass talks about in their meetings and then to have all that repeated again at another time) and just focused on Cheng Zheng's relationship with the Zhaos, this would be a far more interesting show and certainly an opportunity for Johnny Huang to flex his acting muscles.
Trimming off 10 or more episodes would do this show a lot of good. It's just such a hard slog a lot of the time.

This show would be so much better if they trimmed it. There's a decent story in this but good grief... it plods.

I'd say it's deliberate because the Hu style uses a sabre which is a larger more clunky weapon.

There's something gloriously beautiful about watching Miao Renfeng in action. His agility and speed exudes an unmatched elegance like a crane taking flight and landing.

LOL. Hu Fei keeps falling into traps. But if he didn't, he wouldn't meet all kinds of interesting people and upskill.

I don't think there's anything particularly original with the premise. :D People especially women do stupid things in Korean dramas routinely in crime shows. You should have seen the comments on Cafe Minamdang about the FL.

It's ironic to me that the Oh sisters are really just like their father. They are all gamblers -- it explains the desperate recklessness to a T. Let's hope they don't gamble their lives away.

I think he's much more than a good guy.

I just love Wi Ha-joon in this. His Choi Do-il is really one of the really bright spots in this moody dark fairy tale. Contrary to what appears to be majority opinion, I think he's on the side of the angels and is playing the long game. It's clear to me that he really cares about In-joo and the bad boy act is preventing him from being much more forthcoming.

I wish the two older sisters were much more circumspect and far less reckless. I can see where that comes from especially with the parents that they have. But they're in far too much of a hurry to achieve their aims and it hurts them all.

If No. 1 is true then someone else is dead and she's responsible for it at some level.

While it takes a while to get going, this is a fascinating take on the conscience.

Good to see that there are consequences to the hanky panky although it's a bit nauseating watching Tian Guinong and Nan Lan playing house like they're meant to be.

I don't know what it is about MDL these days -- commenters can't seem to accept differences in opinion. It's such an odd thing to judge a person's intelligence and virtue by what shows they like or don't like.
