I can't see In-joo hanging on to that money long. I'd say she gets conned out of it and then it's Choi Do-il to the rescue. Again. So much for being a new independent woman. The Won genetics afflicts Hyo-rin and she gradually turns into a psychopathic killer. That's why she didn't mourn for her parents. The remnants of the Jeongran Society regroup and rally around her as their new leader. But wait... Won Sang-a isn't really dead. Ms Go managed to get her out of the acid bath in time and she's making a comeback as Poison Ivy. They've found a new way to grow the ghost orchid and now it glows in the dark.

It's revenge time for the killer orchids.

It makes no sense to me too that there would be this build up of tension, skinship etc and then... nothing.

That's why the only thing that makes sense to me is that they're holding out for a second series. The ratings have been good for them so it's a strong possibility. They need something to bait the audience with and this dynamic would do it.

The only reason why I would watch a second series is if Do-il and In-joo end up together.

I was very tempted to think along those lines but I think there was enough prefiguring that it's not a full on deus ex machina.

Episode 10 was great. Gave me reason to hope that this would end well. But alas...

Considering the scope of this story and what they crammed into the last episode, I think another episode or two wouldn't have gone astray.

I take the opposite view. She needs a smart guy to take care of her. She's just too gullible and unpredictable.

Frankly I didn't think the finale was satisfying at all.
It feels like they're leaving the door open for another season. They could because there are still members of the Jeongran Society lurking around.

That's what I thought too. What was the point of the courtroom soliloquy?
The messaging at the end was all over the place.

I honestly started this for Chen Zheyuan and that's pretty much it. It's one of those lightweight low budget web rom coms. The script isn't the greatest, nothing original but I find myself grinning at the leads' antics. I'm even gradually warming up to the second leads.

Shen Yue is now on record having romanced both Handsome Siblings. :D

He's terrific. One of my favourites.

Hope he gets his happily-ever-after. After all that he's been through and done, he deserves it.

I'm gradually warming up to Su Wuming. He is a delightful combination of Columbo, Miss Marple and the Second Doctor.

The first one was Detective Dee and the Phantom Flame (2010). It starred Andy Lau, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Deng Cao. The second one was the first of two prequels starring Mark Chao and Lin Gengxin featuring a younger Di Renjie. Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon and Young Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings. The first two are my favourites.

There are other Di Renjie dramas but I'm not sure about subs.
