I don’t get it either, they tried so hard to invalidate Africans in this comment section. My first comment was…
Really sorry about that πŸ’›. I don't know why people have decided to behave like this. Even one them said that I am taking "fake outrage stance" and that my outrage is fake because the drama did not actually portray Africa and Africans in bad light. There were also many other ridiculous statements that the person said and I was like there is no point reasoning with these people because they do not want hear anything from nobody. This comment section is very toxic. And I am probably not going come to this comment section after this because there is too much negative energy. Take care of yourself and just know your voice is valid.

Title Grid Spoiler
Theory! So, the female Ghost tried to ensure the creation of Grid. To do so she had to ensure that her mother…
I agree, I don't think Eojin is the father of the baby. Eojin response to seeing Sae Byeok's baby, he acted like she was not his child. There was slight disconnect. Also, Sae Byeok was surprised when Eojin knew the name of her child. Either she didn't tell him that was his child or the baby is actually not his child. And I agree I also noticed the little snip where it seemed like Saeha hugged Sae Byeok but they cut it as the parted. So I think everything is not as it seems.

The sad thing about what happening in the comments section, is that it could have been approached in a different way. People could have not even commented at all on our comments of critique and gone on to watch the drama. Or even if you thought differently people could have simply empathized and affirmed us Africans in our feelings and hurt towards the portrayal Africans in the drama and still gone on to continue to watch the drama. Because we are not stopping you from watching the drama. But what people are doing in the comments is very heartbreaking to see. people are actively gaslighting us Africans out of our feelings and our experience. Actively saying we have no right to talk and that we should just keep quiet. Be honest with me right now, does that sound right for someone to do that? We are the people being portrayed after all so don't we have that right to say we feel uncomfortable or that we want to be portrayed differently. But we are instead gaslighted to think we are wrong and have no right to decide how we are portrayed or have no right to feel even simple upset. And that is absolutely sad. I am sure if it was any other issue that didn't have to do with Africans or Black people you immediately go to the person and say "I understand how you feel and I am sorry that it made you feel that way hopefully they can do better next time." But we didn't get that at all and that's sad. Please I hope if an issue like this happens in the future please do not be quick to discredit or invalidate the persons feelings and experience. Please treat the person the way you would want to be treated if that happened to you.

Every single west drama calls it "Africa" why are these people bitching about when this happens in kdrama? This…
Here is a link to thread on twitter where they talk about this drama but they also link articles about how these stereotypes are in American films. I would say that people talk more about racism and stereotypes in American films and American drama more than any other place. In this thread people also comment that these type of scenes and stereotypes are also seen when they portray India, Middle East and South East Asia. So people are very aware and we should be supporting each other not fighting each other.

The reason western dramas corrected their terminology over the past decade is because viewers pointed out that…
Preach. Exactly.

Every single west drama calls it "Africa" why are these people bitching about when this happens in kdrama? This…
I don't think we should become enemies. I don't think it should be an eye for an eye. I think we should actually work together to stop how western media portrays Indians, Middle East and South East Asia and Africans. I think we should become allies. That's why in one of my comments I mentioned non western countries. Because I am very aware how badly western media does portray India and Middle East and South East Asia. So I hope we don't make it some kind of battle because it is not, because I also get upset of how people portray those places as well. We are all being portrayed badly by media because we are people of color and we should work together to stop it.
K drama's are getting the imagery and information from the west and that's why they display us that way. And I really hope one day they will have better imagery of all of us.
Also I do have a problem with when west dramas treats Africa as a country, and I would voice it if a west drama did the same. So there is no bias when it comes to that. They are actually many black people and people of color who talk about the issues in west dramas and movies when comes to representation of people of color and stereotyping and tokenism.
So all I am trying to say is lets all support each because we are going through the same thing.

Are you from Africa??
Why am I am so triggered? Seriously is that really a question, because I am African, and African people were being displayed badly that's why I'm triggered, why wouldn't I be triggered. So I should just be numb and never get offended when every human on this earth has a right to be offended especially when it comes to issues that directly links to themselves. Also how is it even possible for me to have a fake outrage stance, that is not possible because I have lived my whole as an African person. So how can my outrage be fake, that makes no sense at all. You need to realize besides just water issues of Africa there is also issue of how African people are treated daily and how they are respected as human beings. African people go to western spaces and other countries and are treated horribly and receive racism because of stereotypes. These stereotypes even impacts their chances of getting jobs. It is a whole cycle. Because of these stereotypes people treat Africans like in their daily lives like they are dirty poor lowly people. And you failed to see that. Also it is sad that me just voicing my thoughts and opinions I am now seen as "not helping the image of Africa". So I should just stay silent when every human has a right to voice their thoughts.
This is my last and final reply because clearly you don't want to hear what people are saying and I am tired of repeating myself. I hope you one day see what people were actually talking about.

Clearly you don't want to hear what people are saying. I will repeat myself, the problem is why is there only one imagery for Africa? Why can't they show another imagery of Africa. Because there are other imageries. The immediately went to that imagery of Africa, the stereotypical imagery of the barefoot poor African people. Why couldn't they think about any other imagery??? This imageries produces bad experiences for black people in their daily lives, because of this imagery they are met by stereotypes and racism. Caring about people, is also giving respect and dignity to the people. If you are going to genuinely help you should care about their dignity and you should care about their voice and when they voice when they are uncomfortable about the way they are being portrayed . Because if you are just doing things with out actually caring about the voice of the actual people then do you genuinely care about their experience.

The problem is you think it is only Africa that is struggling and the problem is why is it only non western countries and Africa that are always portrayed that way when they are also other western countries dealing with issues of poverty. Why haven't I ever seen a western countries show the poverty that is happening in their own country. The question is why is there only one imagery. How come western countries can have multiple imageries and identities but Africa is only stuck with one imagery and one identity. You don't know how it is to meet people and they automatically think you are not clean or hygienic, you don't know how it is when people avoid sitting next to you because they think you are dirty. This is all from the one imagery that is perpetuated by media, Please we want diversity in how we are portrayed, that's all we ask.

Are you from Africa??
Yes it would, because you don't know more than an African who has lived in Africa. You only know information that has been constructed by western media. I am African and African countries, are just like any other place, we have houses with running water, we have malls and shops and amusement parks. In each country in the whole world there is always poverty, there is even poverty in America there is even poverty in England but people don't talk about that because they do not associate poverty with western countries, they always want perpetuate the same old stereotype that Africa and African people are poor and struggling all the time and it is absolutely tiring. And I am tired of this stereotype. Also Africa has 54 countries it is not one country and one experience, we are full of diversity and depth. But western media flattens us.
