Exactly! Usually, they won't allow them to be better written on-screen when the books they're based often showcase interesting and strong female characters. Such a shame! And yes, its hard to like a character like this.

Essentially agreed about the lack of chemistry! It was very much perfunctory and sometimes even awkward kisses (that even the editor didn't seem to like to dwell on for too long ...they were brief!). There's no spark between them like that. He was more convincing when he looked irritated with her character, tbh than in love with her. He kisses his co-star in The Sleepless Princess is a much more tender way and they had better, more convincing chemistry (the relationship in that drama was also toxic AF, though!).
