Even if they didn't end up together atleast they could have answered all the questions we had about future. If they weren't going to show where is everyone now what was the point showing the daughter and all. They should have just showed 2009 as the current time.

So Amemia is actually Nakano. He liked Mio since school. Maybe real Amemia was a playboy and in debt but a year ago Nakano replaced him because he thought that would help him get Mio. So he had plastic surgery except for ears? After all that's what gave him away. If this is true then his dialogs about domestic abuse and that he worked hard to get Mio would make sense.
