Homophobia in real life hasn't "drastically gone down." Openly gay individuals face discrimination in employment, healthcare, housing, etc. There's much work to be done to achieve equality
"THIS IS NOT A CASE OF CENSORING AN LGBT CONTENT"
The gay content of the novel was downplayed and removed in the adaptation. By definition, this is a case of censorship. Censorship isn't limited to overt prohibitions. It takes the form of self-censorship or market pressures that discourage the inclusion of gay content
"Parties involved agreeing to censor a gay work" raises concerns about creators feeling pressured to conform to heteronormative/homophobic standards in order to succeed in their field
The creators agreed to censor a gay work out of a fear of backlash or reprisal. The censorship exposes the persistence of homophobic attitudes and biases in society
"... every LGBTQ content will be plagiarized content because all of those stories were told somewhere before in a straight setup"
Plagiarism is the copying of another person's work without credit or permission. It doesn't apply to gay storytelling that explores universal themes from different perspectives or uses common storytelling devices
Straight stories aren't original. They draw inspiration from, or retell, pre-existing straight stories. Are they "plagiarized content?"
"... is the biggest reason why LGBTQ content is actually seeing a rise"
The outward proliferation of gay content isn't a reliable barometer of societal acceptance. Homophobia has retreated into the shadows of self-censorship and feigned, performative tolerance that unravels into outrage at the sight of authentic, unabashed gay characters or couples on screen (the reason the adaptation was censored)
"... keep your propaganda to yourself" "How can you be so dumb?"
You're not interested in a genuine discussion about the impact of censorship. You're interested in your own agenda that continues to spread misinformation and harmful rhetoric
I am just posting my comment - For those who are watching this drama and enjoying it, definitely do not allow…

Commercial success shouldn't come at the cost of compromising the integrity and artistic vision of a work
Prioritizing commercial success over moral considerations can be likened to a "profit-over-people" propaganda that creates a system where the voices and stories of certain groups (e.g. gay stories) are disregarded for monetary gain
Consuming censored media doesn't necessarily indicate homophobia. Celebrating censorship does. Commenters below praised the removal of gay representation, calling gay stories "crap" and "immoral." They weren't just commenting on a specific piece of media. They were making a statement about their belief that gay relationships are less valid or worthy of representation
Rebelling against this censorship or advocating for change is a recognition that we haven't yet achieved equality
Must the things be so complicated everytime... why can't people accept that commercial success is supreme reason…

they'll say the author didn't know that they would adapt this into a friendship drama as if they know her personally…
"... to these entitled pple, her say on what happens to HER work doesn't matter, even if they themselves are not the target audience"
The author, in a display of conspicuous egoism and staggering artistic hubris, made a decision that doesn't uphold the sanctity of artistic expression
They chose the direction of their work, and members of society, as the recipients and arbiters of this work, reserve the right to express their dissent or disagreement
Our disagreement with the author's decision to censor their work isn't entitlement, it's a justified response to what's a violation of artistic integrity and expression

"Lacking of respect for the heterosexual community"
This is rich coming from you. Your use of words like "immoral" to describe gay people betrays a lack of respect for the gay community and their experiences. You can't demand respect when you're demeaning and denigrating gay people
"... u mean it's ok to watch porn too?"
The heart of the discussion is the representation of gay people in mainstream media. It's separate from and shouldn't be confused with the discussion around the (im)morality of pornography

I respect you and wouldn't dream of pushing you to watch something that made you uncomfortable. I just wanted to offer you a friendly ear if you were curious about the world of BL

Our "lifestyles" aren't "decadent" or "immoral," they are different from yours
Exposure to gay stories doesn't "ruin" youths, it teaches them that our differences are to be celebrated, not feared. The only thing these stories are "ruining" is ignorance
The way Zee and NuNew light up the screen together is sorcery. Their on-screen chemistry in "Cutie Pie" was insane, and I can't wait to see them set the world on fire with more BL projects
Even if "The Next Prince" doesn't charm others, I will be here, eyes glued to the screen, soaking in every last drop of this pairing
I have also seen bls worst than this, like no acting skills, next to nothing plot,no chemistry and plot holes, sometimes…
"Cutie Pie" is a treasure. Instead of PTSD, I developed CPWD (Cutie Pie Withdrawal Disorder). I'm eagerly awaiting the next BL project featuring the talented male leads
Please don't let the rating, reviews and comments dissuade you! They are overly harsh and don't do justice to the storytelling, chemistry between the male leads, and cinematography
"Cutie Pie" might not be everyone's cup of tea, but its exploration of same-sex arranged marriage and enemies-to-lovers dynamics made it a must-watch for me. I found it to be a delightful and underrated gem
It's valid to give a 1-star rating to express your dissatisfaction with censorship
If we can't use 1-star ratings, what are we supposed to use? Smoke signals? Semaphore? Morse code? 1-star ratings are the most convenient form of passive-aggressive protest since the silent treatment

You're a fantastic older sibling. I wish to be as supportive and encouraging to my own youngest sister during her upcoming exam as you are to yours (my youngest sister is in her senior year of high school)
"... we have only just repeal the criminalising gay sex only last year"
Every step counts, and I'm hopeful about the direction your country is moving in!

It was my pleasure! I appreciate your openness and curiosity, and I hope that you'll continue exploring these issues in the future when the time is right for you (no pressure)
Best of luck on your exam in July. I know you've got this!

The production team explained that they censored the gay romance to increase viewership. The reasoning behind their decision was clear. They are catering to a wider, more homophobic audience
You might not have ill intent towards the community, but there are individuals who do. The majority limits the freedom of gay people to express themselves and restricts the potential reach of BL/gay content
Our criticism of censorship isn't directed at you. It's directed at the general homophobia that persists in society. Please don't take it personally

The mere existence of BL is a silent but potent resistance against the status quo. It's a platform for gay relationships to be celebrated. Its imperfections don't diminish its importance
Many BLs tackled the complex themes of self-discovery, family and societal pressures, political issues, etc. "BLs don't help anything" is incredibly short-sighted. I just watched "Cutie Pie" and there was a discussion of legal recognition for same-sex marriage in the bathtub scene! "If we could legally marry, we could look after each other. I don't understand, what's the difference between a gay couple and a straight couple [that gay couples are denied the rights straight couples enjoy]?" (episode 9, 27:46). BLs are using even innocuous scenes, like a casual conversation in the bathroom, to raise awareness about important issues
BLs that don't depict the struggles faced by openly gay people aren't ignoring these issues. They choose to focus on stories of love and acceptance that offer reprieve from the harsh realities of homophobia. They depict a world where gay couples aren't side characters or buried in subplots. They are front and center, free to explore their identities and relationships without the burden of societal judgement
There's no harm in "everyone being gay, kissing and makeouts." Straight media glorifies "everyone identifying as straight, kissing and makeouts." It romanticizes toxic, possessive behavior as "desirable," and its toxicity is brushed aside because the leads are conventionally attractive. Why are you holding gay media to a different standard?
The last time a comment section got this toxic was when saudis got angry about King The Land showing a muslim…
"Wokeism" is a buzzword, a dog whistle used by homophobes to paint equality and social justice as something dangerous
Being gay isn't a religion, it's a natural part of the human experience, and it's not accurate to compare the criticism of the censorship of gay stories to the religious zealotry that sought to censor stories of an Arab prince's indulgences abroad. Religious zealots aim to silence stories that threaten their beliefs or challenge societal norms. We aim to give stories that challenge societal norms the opportunity to be told
A platform that features BL dramas isn't "pushing" BL on you. There's a demand for this type of content, and the platform is meeting that demand, that's all it means
