Giving it an 8 - it was a nice to see the journey of life through one mans eyes :) We go through is experience of separation, the Korean War (a piece of it), Germany, Vietnam, to the "reunion of family's tv show" - It was a good movie ^^ Everyone says how this was a tearjerker - but for me I only "teared up" (didn't actually cry) one time lol *maybe I'm weird* - this was more heartwarming and nostalgic, rather than a crying show for me ^^
It was a nice movie, I enjoyed it ^^ (first good movie I watched today) lol *proceeded by 2 crappy movies* Anyways, this movie has beautiful cinematography <3 Sometimes I shook my head though at certain things they "showed up" but overall it's a good romance based, action movie ^^ So if you're looking for a little romance and action - it might be a good pick :) I liked it more when they headed to NK ;) their "mission" :) *watched for Rain and unexpectedly encountered Lee Jong Suk (very minor role), Shin Se Kyung (rain's romance) and Kim Sung Soo <3
It's on Kissasian but the subs are absolutely horrible - so if you watch it there you are going to need to cover the subs with other more accurate subs from subscene lol
Gave it a 5.5 - It was a decent movie - *ouside of one scene that I had to skip over b/c it was disgusting* - It (Silmido)was apparently a true account of what happened. But all there really was to it was a bunch of criminals being sent to an island and all you see day in and day out is their training... a little bit of talking between the convicts and the army guys - and more training - it was ok to watch once but I wouldn't watch this again. Honestly the ending - even if it was horrible was the best - when the convicts "found out" and their "action" afterwards and their "plan" and eventually the following <those were the most interesting out of the story. :/ I watched b/c it was a "war" movie "part of Korean history" and b/c Jung Jae Young was in it - I ended up seeing a couple other actors - namely: Uhm Tae Woong & Kim Kang Woo - that I wasn't expecting to see.
If I knew this would have "mature" scenes in it - I would have avoided watching it -_- I do not like movies that have sex scenes at all -_- or blatant nudity of a womans breasts -_- No do I really care for extreme brutality when people kill people *example: using axes* <it's too graphic. I don't mind your "average" so called "gore" but there are just some kinds I cannot stand.
Other than that - honestly this story had ZERO depth for me :/ A guy decides to kill someone to get out of debt and looks for his wife - there was no substance to it. and most of the movie was just showing the gangsters brutally killing eachother & going after him :/ Lame.
REALLY?!!! Are you KIDDING ME???!!!!!!!!! >_< They freaking ended it like that?!!!!! UGH I'm ticked off now!!!!! >_< I hate it when movies end stupid >_< Seriously!!! They didn't even let us know if they succeeded in killing that asshole >_< or if any of them lived! >_< They should have let me see that jerk DIE!!! or at least told us what happened with words in the end! >_< *I'm not someone who cusses but this makes me feel like doing so!* >_<
