This drama is 100% politics but I loved every minute of it. It's a tragic memoir of the Imjin war. I loved Ryu Seong Ryung & Lee Soon Shin - they were my favorites on this drama (and their close companions). I liked Gwanghae during the first half but by the second half I was disappointed with his actions... :/
A great drama however, if you don't mind watching one that has zero romance. I cried a few times while watching it and cried at the end too :'( It's more sad b/c you basically see history take place before your eyes :'(
Actors I have to give a shoutout to:
~ Kim Sang Joon (Ryu Seong Ryung), Kim Suk Hoon (Lee Soon Shin), Kim Tae Woo (King Seonjo), Jung Tae Woo (Cheon Ri), Choi Chul Ho (Lee Hang Bok), Noh Young Hak (Prince Gwanghae), Lee Kwan Hoon (Shin Myeong Chul), Nam Sung Jin (Lee Deok Hyeong), & Jeon Kwang Jin (Song Hee Rib) ~
This actor was also in 'Kings Daughter Soo Baek Hyang' as one of the "band" guys - the one she met with the crown prince - the one she grabbed his shirt and opened it (LOL) and asked if that was a Tapir tattoo on his chest :P
The only character that has sincerely moved me to tears almost every time he is on screen is Kuchon (I don't know what it is about this man - but he moves my heart!) <3 <3 <3
I don't know if it's the actor or the character but something about Jinmu's gaze just draws me into him <3 I love his moments with his "sister" <3
The actress who plays Solhi (Seo Woo) is completely plastic (I think everyone knows this) and you can totally tell (she has bad PS done lol) but she looked "prettier" in her "peasant" clothes - when she was in her "royal" clothes all I could think was she (her skin texture, bone structure & lips) reminded me of a snail. But besides her "looks" she is a pretty good actress - some scenes toward the end were a little "bad acting" but decent enough to overlook lol
However - even though she played the "villain" I thought it was cute how Jinmu liked her and cared for her - especially toward the end <3 I never wished death on Solhi - I just wanted her to wake up, and be redeemed. and I get a love story between them to boot ^_^ So cute!
Absolutely amazing! I could hardly pull my eyes away - and after every episode I never hesitated to click the next one! I loved it <3
I think the ending (although good) should have been a little longer & have more romantic/cute scenes between the couples (at least between the main couple - I was satisfied with the second couple but I fell slightly cheated with the main couples very short scene at the end). The ending felt rushed but I read that it was cut pretty drastically by like 12 episodes or something - so that would explain it - they "tidied everything up pretty good - I just really think we needed more screen time between the main couple"
But overall a really great drama that I'd highly recommend to others! *NO LOVE TRIANGLES* <my favorite kinds! lol
Favorite characters in order: Kuchon, Jinmu, Solnan, & Myongnong. I disliked Solhi (the acting was good) her character was horrible - at times I liked her and at times I hated her.
I'll never forget Kuchon <3 That man was just perfect! So much LOVE, so much HEART, so much SINCERITY <3 Best character hands down!!!
and Jinmu, the hurt soul, who had such an innocent heart, although he ended up doing a few bad things - he never truly had ill intent deep inside - he was hurting and he was trying to escape :'( I felt for him at every bump and turn ^^ Loved his character ;)
there is a song that I am 100% positive that Song Sohee sings and it's played a lot during the episodes 3-5 and…
As I was listening to it, I was thinking, this was just an instrumental with a sad cry - but then towards the end of the song was Song Sohee's voice lol - So it's the right song - now I just need to learn how to cut songs, so I only have the part I like :P
Pleasantly pleased to see a stalker guide on this actor! I came to really like him after seeing him in Healer (I previously saw him in Stars Lover but didn't know much about the drama world back when I watched that one lol) - I'm not much of a movie watcher but I have to admit he is really handsome <3 Great article!!!
why do they keep putting him in long daily dramas or in dramas where he only has a minor supporting role? I think he's a good actor - who deserves to be in better dramas as a lead! and I'd love for them to be detective or crime dramas where he can shine like he did in 'Sirius'!!! <3
A few people are saying they think the production crew changed the husband from Junghwan to Taek at the last minute?…
I agree, I thought about all the "hints" the writers actually gave us and I couldn't believe I overlooked the biggest one of all lol
In the very early episodes (ep.1-3 somewhere) Duk Sun pats Taeks behind and says...'If you're going to marry me & be my HUSBAND' <HUGE hint I over looked!
I see fairies spreading fairy dust all over the world for some magic to happen ^_^ Butterflies are flying around in my heart & Fireworks are going off overhead - My heart is content and fully overjoyed <3 My first Reply drama complete and a happy camper it did make me :D Right now everything is Technicolor ^_^ <3 <3 <3 MANSAE!!!
After thinking about it, I shouldn't even have been confused on who the 'husband' to be was going to be. lol - like everyone else I was thinking JH was the most likely candidate judging by the man's personality in the future - BUT I didn't pay attention to one very small but HUGE hint! lol (I think we all bypassed this) The writers TOLD us who the husband was going to be right in episode 1 (or 2) When Duk Sun patted Taek's butt outside her house when he was drinking milk - she said '...if you're going to marry me & be my husband...' <DUH - how did I think that meant nothing? lol - I knew at that moment that Taek liked her - b/c he smiled so sweetly when she said that <3 lol, But it wasn't until episode 18 that we got a real hint into who her husband was - 'you don't usually do interviews' lol then with episode 19 my Taek shipping heart flew into the air like a hot air balloon - seeing rainbows and colors everywhere - my heart was on cloud 9 people!!! <3 Singing love tunes and shouting Mansae!!! <3 I am so glad I was on the right SHIP!!! Park Bo Gum deserved to be the lead!!! (one thing that made me really want him to be the lead outside of his character in the drama - was that he has been in a lot more dramas that JH - so I felt like he just had to be - even outside of my shipping feelings - it would have been unfair to make a newer actor the lead when he is someone that has acted longer!) I was on Team Taek since episode 6 (when he and Duk Sun went to the beach) I fell head over heals in love with him from that day forward! <3 There was no way another character would steal my heart after that lol <3 <3 <3
Question for anyone who has seen this - I'm currently watching this and I am unsure of who the girl (Gong Hyo Jin) ends up with in the end - b/c the description isn't too clear and the reviews aren't clear either... I'd like to know for sure who she ends up with - please tell me in a spoiler tag (I'm hoping it's Gong Yoo - since he is the one in the picture with her)
I've been downloading all episodes as they come out, I'm just waiting to start (what I already know will be a masterpiece) it when it gets closer to the end - when around at least 45 episodes are out - then it's marathon time for me :D
A great drama however, if you don't mind watching one that has zero romance. I cried a few times while watching it and cried at the end too :'( It's more sad b/c you basically see history take place before your eyes :'(
