Either the bullet who hit him in the brain damaged a part of it and so he could not feel physical sensation anymore.…
I thought so me too but we saw a flashback in episode 10 and episode 15 were Tae Joo remembers little by little the face of the man who shot him and it was clearly Hyun Seok (i find it weird that it is again the brother but uhm ok). Perhaps what trigger the "new" dream was the voice of his surgeon who told him that Tae Joo will be able to wake up soon. Or (and that is just my interpretation) the 80s dream was not just a dream finally, i am not saying he has traveled in time but perhaps this is another dimension or the after-life world, who knows... I do not know what to think honestly.
Either the bullet who hit him in the brain damaged a part of it and so he could not feel physical sensation anymore.…
Yes but about the fact that Kim hyun Seok is still alive in 2018, isn't it because he was the man who shot him ? So Tae Joo has already seen him so it is not so strange to see the old Hyun Seok. Tae Joo already knew it unconsciously.
But at the end he commits suicide, right? But since he still hears the voices in the imaginary world, it means…
Either the bullet who hit him in the brain damaged a part of it and so he could not feel physical sensation anymore. Then because of that he thought that all was a dream and commit suicide. The fact that his life was now boring and that his friends was dead did not help him.
Or what he saw in 2018 (not the first episode but episodes 13-14) was really just a dream, that why he could not feel anything. He just wakes up in order to save his friends. I do not know what to believe, there are many interpretations and that is the goal of Life on Mars to confuse reality and illusion. The meaning of Life on Mars music is a big clue because it shows how people can easily escape from reality with the entertainment.
To be honest and if my memory do not kidding me, the BBC version ends with the suicide of the main character. Then he lives forever in the "purgatory" for cops (so it is not really a dream, i see it like an another dimension or something like that). But lets not forget that Life on Mars korean version is an adaptation so maybe the ends has not the same meaning. What bothers me is that Han Tae Joo still hears the doctor's voice so that would mean that he is still in coma but i find it hard to believe that he is twice in coma. And in the BBC version he did no need to be alive to stay in the "dream" 80s. So perhaps the optimistic interpretation is the good interpretation, i don't know anymore >_<
My interpretation is that basically when he fell into a coma, it was actually all in his head. The longer he imagined…
There are two possibilities : The pessimistic interpretation and the optimistic interpretation.
- Either Tae joo did well go back in 2018 when he woke up and afterward became depressive. He no longer feels in his place in his own time year and is bored of his actual life especially when he closed the case of Hyun Seok and Min Seok. His condition worsens when he learns that his teammates he dreamed were actually all dead. Then when he noticed that he could not feel the pain, he thought that everything was not real and kill himself without telling his friends/family because he thinks that was all a dream. However in reality, it was just a side effet from the bullet (that he does not feel anymore the pain) and did well commit suicide in order to live in his illusions (or in the purgatory for cops if you saw the BBC version). This is one of the meanings of the music "Life on mars" by David Bowie who denounced those who tend to hide in entertainment to escape reality. Basically, Tae Joo return for the sake of his friends but it is all fake so it is just an excuse created by himself so that his life be more interesting/exciting.
- Or either Tae Joo does not go back in 2018 when he woke up. So when he noticed that he could not feel the physical pain anymore, he realized that he was still in a dream so he jumps from a building. At first, i thought that interpretation was a total nonsense because i am a pessimistic person and because i saw the original version but, but, but that would explained a lot of things actually. That would explained why everyone told him to be happy, his relatives wish him the better and so he hears them due to his actual state (comatose state). That would explained why his ex-girlfriend was not injured at all (ok time has passed but i find it still fishy). Finally the more important fact that he is again in comatose state (we heard the doctor talk to him with the radio) that is rather impossible, twice in a coma is a big huge even for a drama. And lets not forget that it is an adaption indeed but some parts can be different so my hope increased when i saw the open ending. But maybe i am just in denial and do not want to believe the true...^_^
Then, i want to talk about the man who shot Tae Joo. I just do not buy that it was Hyun Seok. I just can not. I find it too simple and i am a bit disapointed with the trick "Oh the brother was not really dead blablabla". I find hard to believe especially there were no reactions from Hyun Seok when he saw Tae Joo. .. Not even an "Oh !? What are you doing here, i thought i killed you ! ". I keep the theory with inspector Cho/Jo (?) who was the real "mastermind": It is him who reports to Tae Joo that his ex-girlfriend is missing in the first episode, it is him who saves miraculously Seo Hyun and he appears a lot i find. Or perhaps i am just too imaginative !
Is there love triangle involved ? I want to know because i do not like the kind of situation where the love one must decide between two persons... But i do not hate it if it is more on the comic part like eulachacha waikiki for example !
Ep 15 preview!!!https://youtu.be/Pik-4w88xIIOmo, this looks damn intriguing & I don't think they'll took the same…
I want to watch it so much but I will wait Saturday otherwise the wait will seem even longer T_T ! In any case your comment cheers me up because i did not want it to end like the original version... I know it is a clever end but i found it so sad when i saw it. I hope you are right !
Yes it is pretty confusing but it is intentional. What i think is that Tae Joo imagines his surgeon like the big…
Even if i think that, i hope that Tae Joo travels really back in 80s... I do not want the team to be just illusion... the characters are too endearing. I just want them to be all together ! ._. And even if the villain is different i still do not understand his relationship with Kim Min Seok. Well we will see !! That drama is so in my taste (because bromance, strong friendship, light romance, and all the tag) but i think i will hate the ending because i do not know what i want !
I still don’t know how the real villain in this drama?! In his mind the villain is the one who‘s trying to…
Yes it is pretty confusing but it is intentional. What i think is that Tae Joo imagines his surgeon like the big bad guy because this one wants to bring him back to reality but Tae Joo does not want to abandon the team. However to come back Tae Joo needs to cut his "links" in the illusion. Which mean mainly the captain Kang and Miss Yoon but also Nam Sik and Yong Gi. So it is hard for him now that he likes them very much and trusts them... However the surgeon is not the man who shot Tae Joo in the first episode. I think i know who that person is but i keep the suspence ! (a clue : we saw him already in the first episode)
I like this drama a lot. However, I believe it doesn't exploit all its potential. Sometimes it's really slow,…
The idea that it is an another dimension is pretty interesting and in terms of science fiction could provide a rich story. I have already seen a concept like this (in video games) where the main character travels from one dimension to another as soon as he died but he was not aware of it at the beginning because he did not keep his memories. And in resume the more he had this experience, the more he remembered his memories from other dimensions. He can even begin to travel at such a point of time in such dimension to change the course of events. What I found really good with this concept was that for example the information that the character was learning in dimension A could unlock a problem in dimension B. I think that it is not the case with Life on Mars but i hope that the end will be clever and consistent. It is nice to have some mystery / suspense in a story but that if things are revealed after a while. This is where Life on Mars can scare some people, including me, because the end can be very good as very bad.
So no one will talk about the mysterious guy who called Tae Joo ? My idea it that he did not speak about the serial killer but about something else. After all, many moments have been intentionally "foggy" to remind that Tae Joo wants to return in 2018. But let's not forget that Tae Joo own a transfer paper at the beginning but that it did not belong to him really. It is a bit like living his life but in another dimension. He finds commons points and he has the same appearance but it is not his own real life here. The mysterious guy talked about a mission and what if in 1980 Tae Joo is a spy for the intern affairs or a North korean spy but did not knows about this haha !? xD
I'm kind of annoyed at ep 11. The writing got a bit worse, or maybe I'm just less tolerable cuz Ms Yoon was kidnapped.…
What that a little disappointed me is the scene where Inspector Lee serves as bait, a pretty clever plan but did they really have to follow him in a car behin him(10 meters next to him lol) and wait 20 minutes to react when they did not see him for such a long time ?
For other moments, it is probably for the scriptwriting ease but i hate it when they make wise people totally dumb like : Tae Joo knows the killer is a poliman and he even prepare a plan so WHAT THE HELL DID HE TALKS IN FRONT OF A OFFICER THAT HE REMEMBERS HIS HOUSES !? He could not wait few minutes to be alone with Miss Yoon ? No he said everything like a dumb dude. I understand why the director did that but it still annoys me :
1. First for the killer to change his hideout so that Tae Joo does not find him directly in the next episode.
2. Then to shows that Miss Yoon will become his next target. I suspected that Miss Yoon would be kidnapped at one time or another but it is too obvious at this point.
3. And finally the killer will guess that Tae Joo is not" a normal guy". I mean how can he knows what does the house look like without going there ? Oh course, us, the viewers, know that Tae Joo saw 2018 but the killer not so he he will be wary of him.
I am not they only one that wants Tae Joo to never wake up/ get back, right?
No you are not the only one, i hope a twist like "Tae Joo really travels back in time or Tae Joo thinks he come from the futur but is just totally crazy" or something even that is a totally nonsence to keep him in 1988.... PLEASE DO NOT WAKE UP, HEAR MY SELFISH WISH !!
Ok, did we SEE that in this version? I'm getting hazy on stuff LOL
Not clearly, we saw Tae Joo at the door at the beginning when he looks after his ex-girlfriend and he checked the adress. It is strange that we do not hear the voice of his ex-girlfriend when the doctor said that she was "alright "
I was hardly aware of it but i think we saw the older killer in 2018 at 0.57 in episode 10 and from the first episode !!!!! The poliman who talk to him next to the car !!!!! I am sure it is him, it is also him who screams "There is Kim Min seok" when Tae Joo is about to open the door !!! O^o !!!!!
