Honestly I felt bad for Qi Min. Loved the drama and the bad assery of the female lead. Huge fan of the ml and even had 2ml syndrome for a minute. I gave up on these type of dramas at the end of last year but glad I gave this one a shot. Would have loved to see a story of the little sister grown up and with the young emperor but thats a tale for another time. I enjoyed some of the after credit stories.
why was it such an amazing drama??? I'm not really asking I'm answering why you should watch this on whatever platform you can. q:Why should you watch the drama? a:Why? It was an amazing drama. 10/10 Had everything and the kitchen sink (actually I don't remember seeing a kitchen sink). It was all that and a bag of chips. I look forward to whatever these actors do after this drama. The fight scenes, the driving scenes, the "companion" scenes, the heart breaking story that gets told and retold but each time you get closer to the actual truth scenes, the 2ml syndrome, the hatred you feel towards some of the characters, the feelings this drama invokes in you, the CG scenes, the intense chemistry scenes, the there is no way they are going to go that route scenes, the okay yep they definitely went down that route and committed to it for a couple episode scenes. The feeling like you will never watch such a Hollywood style production in a short drama again and now you have to deal with the low of trying to find something to watch... now... *sigh* Anyways, it was a really really good drama. I was a little disappointed that the eps were only 16-20 minutes and only having 40 eps but then I realized... thats around or longer than 12eps at 1hr each so then I was kind of stunned. I really hope that future short dramas take notes from this one and make their dramas better going forward. I saw a recommendation for a drama in one of the other comments so I'll go check that out but for now I'm off to wallow in sadness now that I've finished watching this curl up in bed and watch Cats for Cash to try to comfort myself until I again realize that I finished this and will now live on as a good memory and a top recommendation going forward.
Such a bitter sweet drama. I kind of loved how everything and nothing was predictable. I hope to see more BLs in this style soon. Also hope these actors will be paired again in another drama but I will not hold my breath. Thank for a clear ending and not leaving it open for a "possible" season 2... although I do realize depending on their beliefs there could still be some wiggle room... maybe in a different era. Anyways, beautiful drama and one I will be recommending in the future.
This might sound harsh and please keep in mind Scarlet Heart Ryeo is one of my favorite dramas of all time plus I watched it before knowing this was the original... well 2nd season of the original show. I prefer the kdrama over this one. I have signed several petitions (even though they won't do anything) for there to be a 2nd season of the kdrama... but after finally being able to watch this 2nd season... I'm good with there only being 1 season of the kdrama. The amount of pain the characters had to go through to get to the end... oof. I did pick up a new phrase that was said/translated several times through out the drama. "What has passed should remain/stay in the past". I started this drama Friday 11/22/24 and finished it 11/26/24. Not gonna lie... if they ever do make a 2nd season of the kdrama I will 100% watch it... but they probably won't or they'll do a reboot and have new cast all together. For now I will patiently wait for the Thai version to see how they do that one. This was also my first C-drama (talking about season 1 that I watched years ago) from this particular dynasty so it was a bit hard to get use to but just like ALL of the characters from both seasons... I cried while watching. In the end I guess what I'm trying to say is in a way... I guess I got some closure for both versions (so far) by watching the original and this 2nd season. So there is that ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
hoping there will be a season 2!!! if not I will riot!!! okay maybe not riot but will definitely be sad. these two deserve so much more together ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ such a beautiful drama and definitely one of my favorites this year.
Queen and Bal gi had chemistry I would have shipped them if Bal Gi wasn't a psychopath . He was just too evil
I agree the chemistry was definitely there. Maybe it could have been a redemption arc . I don't think he was always psycho, I think he became like that after watching his brother do what was done to his oldest brother. Watching that is what made him snap.
Team bal gi...?? Bro are you okay ?๐ญ๐ญ Forget the fact that he is lee soo hyuk..he was literally so cruel…
Yes he waa a psychopath but I feel that a large part of that was due to what was done to his eldest brother. The queen and him definitely had chemistry and who knows maybe he would have kept her alive and treated her differently than his wife because he felt differently about her. He respected her. He didnโt ever think he was worthy of being the king then she came around and gave him hope.... idk maybe things could have been different for them. It definitely would have made for a different ending that's for sure. I was actually thinking that maybe this was part of "The mad Kings" story as well which would then make sense that she'd be with him... but just now realized that it's not since the dad isn't alive to lock him in a rice chest.
Finished the last 4 episodes... that, that was it? also... really that is it? I hate when dramas set it up for a 2nd season (no matter what drama) and never actually make it (example Scarlet Heart Ryeo)... anyways still team Bal Gi. But for reals... that was it? *sigh*
Just found out that part 1 was out and binged all 4 episodes. I hate how much I am rooting for 3rd prince... but I am definitely team Go Bal Gi. I may be a bit actor biased but still. I like the whole enemy of my enemy thing happening with the White Tigers. I do want to know how the 1st prince turned out (since he doesn't have a nose anymore)... the respect the Queen Woo got for protecting her own was noticeable and I hope that does good things for her in part 2. I was a bit she'll shocked by the spicy scenes but felt they were explained and I understood why they were there... also could you imagine being one of those Icecube people... Sept 12th needs to get here fast because 10 days is just way too long to wait for part 2. luckily I have concerts to go to and other shows to watch in the mean time but still this show will be on my mind, especially the 3rd prince until then and probably a while afterwards as well. 8 episodes is not enough but I get that this show was not cheap to make means that it will be limited in quantity of episodes. Anyways that's enough of my rambling. See this page again after Sept 12 for Part 2. *team 3rd Prince Go Bal Gi*
I know a lot is going on with this show but I was absolutely shocked and in awe of tonight's cheeked up episode... if I wasn't married with kids there's one scene in particular that I would have framed and on my wall... *sigh*. I am hoping this show will wrap up nicely or at the very least give us a season 2 shortly after the 8th episode. Normally I can recap shows nicely for my husband (since he doesn't watch them and neither do my to friends) but tonight I told him (other than the cheeky scene) that I couldn't do a recap on this show even if I wanted to. I also screamed at the end but that was mainly due to having to wait till next week for the next episode ๐ *sigh*...
now I wish I wouldn't have taken a nap... woke up to watch ep 2 and almost gaslit myself into thinking it was just a dream but then came on here after frantically searching iqiyi and found that I'm not alone. really hoping this show comes back it seemed like it was going to be really great. seriously, why did I have to take a nap then!!! ๐ก
um... did anyone scan the line qr code? I don't have line so I didn't continue after scanning it with my camera... just curious ๐ค I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.
