You mean the spin-off ? It's about sooyeon and she was supposedly the main lead . And almost every character is connected one way or the other so i don't think they're just side side characters .

It does have a bit of gore but i think it can be skipped . You can try watching a few episodes . It's not the kind of drama that will appeal to everyone ( though i certainly enjoyed it ) .

Haven't watched 'My name' but i guess because of the genre people may be comparing them . And i agree Ngm is an amazing actor .

Okay so i don't think Ji hyuk is the main villain here . Why would chief Ha help a villain when he said he wanted to catch the culprit as well . Every character is at fault for what happened and what is happening .

Lee In hwan had been pulling strings here and there
Director kang is alive and discharged from the hospital
and i have a feeling seo sooyeon might appear in the final episodes ( idk a part of me has believed she's still alive somewhere )

Well , i haven't watched the shows you've mentioned but i'd say that : this show is intriguing for a lot of people ( myself included ) , but may not appeal to some . To each their own i guess :)
