This drama has six New rating and all six gave 10 and all of them are burner which is created just to rate it…
Huh, interesting. I've been seeing people mention burners and stuff on multiple comment threads now, and claiming people are making accounts just to hop around and rate things weirdly. I'm not sure what to think, and it would be frustrating if this is the case. For me, it's a waste of time to police and chase down people who are apparently just children (cause that's how they're acting; "Why try to reason with people who cannot be reasoned with"?), but it is frustrating to watch scenarios unfold because so many involved are acting very immaturely, getting all sensitive and defensive and mean. Again, it all feels very childish.
Just because someone doesn't like a drama (or just because they love it) doesn't mean they're automatically a "burner." But without even a second thought some people just pounce with name-calling and rudeness if someone posts a comment they don't agree with and call them a "burner." You can try to dialogue with them and try to help them see things from another angle, but people like/dislike what they like/dislike. Trying to change that is largely a fruitless endeavor.
But I suppose this IS the internet, so maybe it's too much to ask that people disagree kindly. *sigh* Sometimes this site feels like a microcosm of modern society: "You have to respect my opinion but I don't have to respect yours." ๐
You say you don't like people suddenly giving positive reviews to drama because it's untrustworthy. Maybe to you…
You can maybe just keep that in mind when you see ratings/discussions about dramas with really buzz-worthy actors who have fanaticical followers, haha. Just take some of the enthusiasm as fan service rather than truly thoughtful feedback on the quality. Also, track directors and screenwriters because you might start to see dramas you like due to who directs or writes them. I've noticed that more the deeper I get into the Kdrama world; screenwriters/directors are a big part of how good the drama ends up being.
I like 3 scenes in particular.1. When Samdal rescued Yong Pil out of the water and then Yong Pil was so embarrassed…
And then when, "Surprise!" we (and him) found out she liked him back and his confession didn't go to waste. ๐ I've never seen a confession happen like that in a Kdrama yet; it was unexpected. Where their interest aligned so beautifully and the timing was perfect. ๐
Iโm still trying to get through the first episode but Iโm left shooketh at the assistantโs behaviors. From…
Yes, she has to be one of the most egotistical narcissists I've seen in a Kdrama, and SO jealous of Sam Dal. The fact that the boyfriend could cheat on Sam Dal with a girl like that just shows what a bug he is.
And it looks extra disgusting in slow mo ๐ People have been describing Yong Pil as wimpy and a pushover, but…
Yes, he isn't embarrassed about it either. I'm excited to see the tight-knit nature of the community as the story progresses. Small towns can never escape gossip (I think it's what fuels their existence and it's probably what keeps them going ๐ ), but when everyone is called upon to rally for each other I bet we'll see them come together.
Is it just me or at times jcw's makeup look weird? It's not all the time but it's mostly his lips.
Yeah, there is something that looks or feels different about him in this drama, and I can't quite put my finger on what it is? It might even just be his haircut, I don't know. ๐ When I saw clips and trailers for Lovestruck In the City I almost didn't recognize him because his hair made him look SO different.
Love from beginning to end!. Need more recs like this one, please.
Anything else by this screenwriter is excellent and you'll probably enjoy it, too. Start-Up is a little controversial, but still good. My favorites are While You Were Sleeping and I Can Hear Your Voice. They are much longer so there's a lot more story developed and their pacing feels more like typical Kdramas. Glad you enjoyed it--it's a good one!
Also why would someone be so insistent on saving their pride, when their career and life are ruined? Pride is…
Yes, true. I wonder if they'll show her realizing that? Right now she's pretty caught up with her own problems but I imagine some of her arc will be to start focusing on others (I hope so, at least). Hopefully she'll pluck up the courage soon!
It's not known why this shift happened that men stopped diving: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haenyeo
Thank you! Apparently just needed to Google it. ๐ Fascinating that Jeju has had a semi-matriarchal family structure--no wonder the men seemed so passive in this show!
They need to stop showing FL's assistant, except that it's good fo far...
But it will be satisfying to see Sam Dal get justice and eventually watch the assistant's life go up in flames instead. Might get a little agonizing getting there though, for sure. But yeah, jealousy and envy do not wear well on people.
Their seaweed war has me wheezing ๐คฃ๐คฃWhat's happening? Lmao the dramatic music with seaweed flying....๐ฎโ๐จ
And it looks extra disgusting in slow mo ๐ People have been describing Yong Pil as wimpy and a pushover, but in today's episode he showed he can totally hold his own against Sam Dal. He's not cowed by her outbursts in the least. ๐

I was hoping the reason was more that she didn't want to do Eun Joo dirty and drag her through the mud since she was her assistant, even if she did backstab her (maybe that's too angelic for our FL, haha), but they pulled the pride card instead. It's not a great reason, but it's an understandable one, and this is a very personal thing to reveal to the world. I have never been cheated on, but I can imagine what it might feel like, and it probably makes you feel like garbage. And then you get everyone's pity... *shudder*. In theory, a person shouldn't feel bad AT ALL for being cheated on because that really just means they dodged a bullet and good riddance to the sleezy jerk, but it can't feel that way at first, I'm sure. I think her response and desire to hide it does make sense; it makes sense to HER, but not to someone looking at the situation objectively.
Episode 3 has solidified my liking for this drama, it was a perfect balance of comedy and emotion. I see that…
Yeah, the amount of alcohol the sisters are consuming is unreal. I don't know how they're functioning at all. Even if they're drinking beer instead of soju. ๐ณ Actually, the most unrealistic part for me so far has been the youngest sister's daughter. She's so cute, but even the most precocious 9 year old would never act like this or say the things she says. If a kid ever acted like this, it'd be because they imitated adults doing it around them, and she's acting more mature and insightful than the adults. ๐
Idk how to feel about Sang Do most likely chasing after Sam Dal. I know he's had a crush on her since forever…
I don't think they'll pursue it, but even if they did, I don't think that makes him a jerk. He's waited so many years and they have been separated for 8... I think he's given plenty of space for them to work things out. Sometimes I think the Bro Code goes way too far. If plenty of time has gone by, let bygones be bygones.
