I laughed at this part. Falscons do not smell things and track them down. They track prey through sight. We need an Avatar The Last Airbender creature that melds two species to make this a possibility: the Falconhound or The Gyrhound or something. But this ability of our puppet gyrfalcon was utterly made up. 😅

I know the director likes using snow for mood but it's getting ridic how long this winter is lol
I cringed in 15 or 16 when the ML said at one point while they were exploring during the Lantern Festival, "Look, it's snowing!" And then he got he an umbrella. I'm like, dude, you haven't noticed it's been snowing for the past 16 episodes?! 😅🤦♀️
(Okay, I hope we can all agree that was a miss in the script. 😅 Shuddering just thinking about cringey it was, haha).
I feel like these stories work in SK because they still have so much social stigma and expectations around behavior and ways of carrying yourself. They also have so much of a media culture and aura around chaeobols and the rich, upper classes that these stories (for better or for worse) actually work really well in SK even in modern settings.
The only movies or shows that try this sort of story in western media are period dramas, the fantasy genre and hallmark movies... 😅
I guess we'll see if it's any good! The filming at least looks lovely.
The King 2 Hearts was all set in mostly modern buildings, and much of Goong's palace was a fake set (anyone remember the patio outside the FL and ML's bedrooms in the ML's mansion that was obviously a fake palace backdrop? I felt like I was watching a 1950's Hollywood film set like White Christmas whenever I saw that set. 😅), so it'll be fun to see a modern drama do the setting a bit more justice and really get some use (in a modern setting) of their beautiful palaces and historic grounds (I guess The King: Eternal Monarch did this as well, but we didn't really get to appreciate the unique setting too much as that was not the plot's focus).
Crazy that it's trending a month before it's supposed to air!
I might have to get a free trial for Disney + and binge this once it becomes available in the U.S. and if it sticks the landing. ☺️
Full disclosure, I skipped a couple episodes with all the love triangle stuff and angst with Tae Hyung leaving, but I watched the last few episodes.
It's no masterpiece, but it wasn't a terrible ending. It's warm and fuzzy with some very cute and sweet messages about family, even if those who become family are not blood-related.
And of course, Woo Joo is just the cutest. I could tell our little actor was really warming up to the cast by the end. They did a good job of showing his development as the months passed (babies develop so quickly at this age; I have an 8 month old nephew who does new things every time I see him and somehow manages to keep getting cuter every time I see him, too).
I didn't have as many gripes about RJE as many on this page did; I wouldn't day this was her best work, but she and Bae In Hyuk were sweet (always a big fan of In Hyuk since At A Distance Spring Is Green and Under The Queen's Umbrella). I don't think this script gave them a ton to work with, but I hope they enjoyed all their time with cuteness king Park Yu Jo. ☺️
It's not as bad as some are making it out to be, truly. While I do think it deserves a lowish rating from an objective standpoint, it can still be enjoyed. Just soak up the warm fuzzies and baby cuteness and don't expect anything groundbreaking or earthshatteringly stellar. 😉
He's doing a BL series, and they're probably doing a CYA in front of the censors.
It's crazy how good the AI version of his face is. I would never have known, and that kind of scares me. 😅 (I hope the paid the actor well whose face they used)
K-Drama
