They'll probably do the trope where she meets a reincarnated version of the king (same actor) in the modern world in the last five minutes of the last episode. 😅

Cause the budget for well-shot battles and good CG is the budget movies have, and those budgets are astronomically higher than TV shows. It makes sense to me they wouldn't be that good in a series (unless you're Disney and have money to burn, and have 8 episodes per season 😋).

Nirvana In Fire 2 has some pretty good battles, and Ever Night season one is also pretty good (though the fights are more like duels than battles).

In this drama, My Lovely Liar? A tiny one, yes. There's actually a love square. The 2ML likes the FL, and another character likes the ML who is revealed later in the drama; it's kind of a reveal, so I won't say who it is and spoil it. But the FL and ML are obviously endgame. :)

Is it just me that gets the impression that Arthur Chen's roguish roles aren't acting (like how Tony Stark is just Robert Downey Jr. in a fictional universe)? I just get the sense he's a bit of a handful in real life, too. 😅

(I know I'll probably get crucified for saying this here, since so many people seem to think actors are saints if they appear that way in interviews and behind the scenes clips and on social media; I am not of that opinion... 😬).

I can't stand the "child voice" dub either! It's like when men in audio books try to read female parts "like a woman." 🙅‍♀️ I realize it's probably hard to get kids to do the dubbing well, but it's SO obvious it's not a child that it's distracting and unpleasant.

I see, so there was a lack of cultural sensitivity and some generalizing and stereotyping. I can definitely see how that would make some people upset. It can certainly be quite frustrating when your culture is reduced to a generalized representation, especially if it's inaccurate. 👍

Also, what's up with Bao Bao and Chulan trying to keep Wang Ye from competing? If it's supposed to be a funny gag, I never laughed. Just felt annoyed.

I need someone to root for. People seem to love Bao Bao; as of Episode 14, I don't know why. She has a sob story and is weirdly skilled, but that's about it. Chulan wants to help her find the truth but at times she treated him like garbage. At this point I like Zhuge Qing the best because he's not being selfish or cowardly or indifferent to morals like most of the other characters.

And Episode 14 just didn't make sense. Like that scene between Wang Ye and Chulan? No idea what they were talking about. *sigh* I think this drama might have too much wuxia/cultural subtext for me to grasp and track.... I'm used to dramas dropping details as they progress and dispelling mystery. But so far, still too much mystery and confusing stuff, and it's hard to enjoy. Tried 15 and I'm still not feeling it.

I might put this on hold for now.
