I was wondering why Se Hyeon was so smiley when they found out that a "Lee Ji Woo" wanted to be in their study group at the end of Episode 2. The last scene made it all make sense. π
Loved how they played with the lack of gender specificity in some Korean names to launch us into expectancy for the next episode. π
Haha, thanks. It feels more like a School drama than Weak Hero Class 1 to me because of the teacher that cares (Weak Hero didn't have a single adult who cares or even bothers about the kids, from what I remember. No one gave a darn! It drove me nuts.). The School dramas always have a teacher that cares about the kids and fights against the corrupt admininstration/parents alongside the students.π
Why did Fan Xian spit up blood in his room once Yan Xiaoyi left (after Fan Xian escaped the palace with Uncle…
That's true, martial artists in Cdramas do tend to get a lof of internal injuries. π
Fascinating about the spitting blood trend. It's definitely the "catch-all" way to tell us "that person is ill/hurt." (Like the way Kdramas show people who are "sick/overworked/distressed, etc." getting nosebleeds.) Another is the way they feel a woman's pulse to see if she's pregnant in costume Kdramas/Cdramas; a ridiculous, fabricated medical technique. π
I saw some people comparing it to weak hero class 1. is it worth watching? thanks in advance.
So far it's better than Weak Hero Class 1 (in my opinion); this is actually setting up a more realistic premise and scenario for violence like this at a school, and already the mains are sweet and adorable. Also not as heavy as Weak Hero. Deals with heavy stuff, but in a more lighthearted way because the ML is an adorable, kindhearted dweeb. π
I kinda want to watch Meteor Garden now, just to see Dylan Wang play a polar opposite character to XQA, but I heard it was removed from Netflix. π Alas! Sad day. My timing is terrible!
I've made my way through all the BOFs in some form or fashion except the Taiwanese and Chinese versions. Someday, I guess! πββοΈ
Is it okay to skip this season to move on to S3 for YYS?
Probably not. You won't know who the leads are, as YYS only appears for part of Season 3. This is also the best Season of the three (in my opinion). π I liked it better than Season 1.
This drama will not have a sad ending. I spoiled myself to the novel's ending, he becomes an actual Martial God…
Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking, too. It seems naive of him to think XQA would help him. And you'd think the sorcerer would realize XQA is no pawn (after how closely he's observed him all this time!). Easier to herd cats than control XQA! π

So, basically, daddy dearest saved him? π But didn't Dad also kill a bunch of people to help him move up in rank so he could erase everyone's memories? I doubt XQA will go for that sort of help. Unless I misinterpreted that part, which is very possible.
My good friend in dear old USA taught in a high school like this..students coming back from Rikers, teachers getting…
There are bad schools in the U.S., obviously, but this sort of stuff (at this level) is not normal in the U.S., either, unless maybe it's a super, super rough area. Charters are a good option! Still free like district public schools, but usually smaller, have better discipline and such, so students get away with less.
It's a romance drama, they have to show they are fated to be together. They can't just have random everyday people…
And some of those dramas you're listing are NETFLIX dramas which DO experiment with tropes. They take the template from the Kdrama then try to "Netflix" it, and some people prefer those kinds of "dramas" and some prefer the traditional more "gimmicky" ones (I'm one of those). @Ivy is right, Kdramas are beloved for these very reasons you list, and changing them makes them something else entirely.

Another is Dr. Romantic; Season 2 is better than Season 1 in my opinion. π
My guess would be protecting those dear to him?
So many people demand Kdramas (especially romances) become something "other"--but then they wouldn't be Kdramas, folks!
