another thing i said and saying it again is that the ML- fan xiao was raised in thailand. even his religion or belief seems to be more closed to thai buddism than chinese buddism, for example his buddha necklace is more off a thai buddha. so it was like this in the novel so far when i read the first chapters.

the first ep is a bit confusing but from ep 2 seems to be catching up(from my pov). maybe wait for after few epsiodes dropped, then you can give it a try.
