On Love in the Air: Koi no Yokan Nov 18, 2024
Why oh why
JBLs are absolutely my favorite for their weird, tongue in cheek original plots. They have a special kind of charm.
So it’s sad that they should mess up this big with an adaptation. I loved the thai version not for the plot though because come on, it was cheap cheesy and all over the place but the chemistry was on fire.
Here it’s missing. The casting is the worst thing. Only Arashi is well cast. The rest look like fish out of the water compared to the thai version.

Title Love Sea
Hands down.
Peat and Fort have the most sizzling chemistry I’ve ever seen in any BL.
And not just the love scenes but anytime they’re on screen together, you could feel the attraction and their push and pull is just so playful.

I’m loving this show.
I don’t know how they can make a friends with benefits relationship look so wholesome and innocent.
Yak always has the sappiest smile when looking at Dee, it’s the cutest thing.

How was the chemistry between lead and romance?
Simply awesome
I’m not exaggerating when i say they had one of best chemistry between leads I’ve ever seen in a cdrama
On My Uncanny Destiny Jan 27, 2024
This is simply the most underrated show ever.
It was such a blast. Not a single boring minute. The most consistent plot and everything was tied up nicely.
On Mr. Sahara & Toki-kun Jan 26, 2024
Toki, beautiful sensitive Toki
He’s the most wholesome character i’ve ever seen.
This show is such a treat and is turning out to be the cutest.

I absolutely loved your review.
It was everything I felt for this short beautiful awkward drama.
I can’t believe that there’s someone else out there who loves the japanese awkward acting as much as I do. It makes some scenes feel improvised instead of the sharply scripted and overdirected overacted dramas where you can almost hear them rehearsing their lines in their heads.

Title The Sign Spoiler
How?
Just like how?
Few hours after being resuscitated, Phaya gets up, leaves the hospital undetected and goes down on Tharn?
I can wrap my head around the horrible cartoonish CGI but i just can’t accept that illogical irresponsible turn of events.
On Mr. Sahara & Toki-kun Jan 10, 2024
Look, both arguments are to some degree defensible.
What I see here is that:
First, we’re just seeing things from Toki’s POV which is basically crushing on a teacher. Something I’m sure a lot of people have experienced. But whether these feelings are reciprocated from the teacher who’s in a position of power as long as they’re teaching is something that is universally frowned upon, even in college settings let alone in high schools with minors.
We still don’t know if Sahara sensei even has anything but platonic fondness for Toki. Anything in Toki’s POV is rosy and romantic because it reminds us of that feeling of first love and the bittersweet angst of unrequited love.
But I agree that if Sahara acts on thses feelings even if he truly likes Toki back is wrong as along as their unbalanced dynamic exists.
For the adopted brother situation though it’s again romantic in its angst and the general feeling of helplessness, it is absolutely icky in real life. Because adopted=real family. The same would apply if someone fell in love with their adopted child or parent. You just can’t reconcile these two facts. Because if they are family, adopted or biological, then they’re off limits and any relationship would be incestious. If he was just a family friend they took in and raised it wouldn’t be as distasteful. I think that they might never have been anything but friends who grew up in the same household not brothers. Anyhow you can’t say brother and still wanna make out. Just no.
That said, I personally love the sh*t out of this series because Toki is everything from his facial expressions and OTT reactions to his adoration for Sahara and friendship to Todo and nothing untoward has happened yet. Japanese dramas with age gap usually have the decency to postpone any love declaration until everyone is of age and true to their feelings.
On Back from the Brink Jan 10, 2024
This was such a joy to watch.
The trope of getting together and then separate over and over again always gets on my nerves and I instantly drop the series but here the acting specially that of Han Yui was so good that each time you could reason and even make excuses for the idiotic actions they took.
It was heartbreaking and heartwarming to watch their love story unfold.

This show is just beautiful.
That’s the only way I can describe it.
Beautiful and heartbreaking and so so good that it sets a whole new standard for any romance series LGBTQ or otherwise.

I absolutely agree.Unfortunately asian dramas are kind of in a rut. Because BL genre though fun and inclusive…
Unfortunately real life is not always rainbows and cupcakes so the more realistic representations tend to be somber and not HEA.
I too hate the “only gay for you” arc. In some instances it’s regressive and promotes heteronormativity. I feel like they try not to acknowledge bisexuality.
On My Second Aoharu Nov 21, 2023
I absolutely adore both Sayako and Taku but I don’t know why I can’t feel the chemistry. It’s just not there.
They seem like genuinely good friends with no romantic or sexual attraction. I’d still definitely watch the show if it were a platonic friendship instead of forcing something between these two.
Replying to skinny pig Nov 21, 2023
This gets low score probably because it has few skinship and the deep story. Cause at the end of the days, BL…
I absolutely agree.
Unfortunately asian dramas are kind of in a rut. Because BL genre though fun and inclusive at times, is the culmination of female gaze and fantasy towards mm relationships. It’s not an honest or accurate representation of LGBTQ+ issues.
Episode 5 was a very hard one to watch. The way they depicted the struggle A-kun went through and how he dealt with his identity was raw and heartbreaking.
Here’s hoping for better LGBTQ+ shows like this.

I feel sorry for how objectified he is. He can't get any roles which present him as anything other than an idol…
I know he has some semblance of power but studios are all about the money and apparently these repetitive roles sell well enough to typecast him time and time again.
I’m not saying the show is explicit in anyway because it’s totally PG-13 and I’m no prude myself but it doesn’t have to be overtly explicit or erotic to be objectification. The excessive focus on visuals and body is exploitative in my mind. As soon as it goes beyond just a propellant of the story and becomes the story it loses the artistic appeal.

I agree with your statement but what I’m trying to say is that the whole idol scene is moving to a direction where autonomy is becoming meaningless. The pressure studios and companies put on these people is destructive and it’s rare that anyone can break from them and become successful at the same time.
We as the audience have the duty to change too and demand less objectification.
On A Good Day to Be a Dog Nov 15, 2023
Love the show so far.
But does anybody else feel that they’re objectifying Cha Eun Woo too much?
I mean a little eye candy never hurts but this is getting a bit uncomfortable.
The fight has been mostly focused on reducing male gaze, now we have to stop sexually charged female gaze too.
He may not have much range but in his niche typecast roles he’s one of the best so they don’t need to increase viewership by unnecessary shower scenes.

I wasn't comfortable with an adult dating a teenager, I was gonna drop it but started fast-forwarding their scenes…
I don’t like age gap romances either but the power dynamics here were not that of dominance and submission and strangely enough the younger one was the top so I don’t think there were any abuse or coercion but what i don’t understand in the first place is why Bai Zhong Yi fell in such an all consuming love. It’s like that trope where because the writer says so they should be in love.
On Kiseki: Dear to Me Nov 7, 2023
Is it just me or did anyone else love the second couple more?
They need a whole season ASAP.
I liked the main couple too but everything about the second couple’s story was much better.
