Xu Kai delivered well in this drama (first time for me seeing this actor) but the best performance was from Zeng Li as Consort Xiao, she makes all other actors look like amateurs.
Judging from the comments it seems like 90% of watchers are skipping the stepbrother part and enjoying the other…
Yes, somehow the chance to add some depth with an element of tragic realism was missed. The rape topic appears several times but the real horror is never shown because the victim is drugged or sleeping.
Probably the contrast to the dominating rom-com style should not become to prevalent but then the topic had better been omitted instead of doing injustice to the character (development).
Guys lets vote the bromance tag to be added to the list of tags, I dont understand why it's not there already🤷♀️
It can be voted for? Where? I tried to add the tag using the add-tag-button but got rejected and reprimanded not to use this button (??!), now I don't really want to further explore how it works when there is no logic involved apparently.
I know I'm late to watching this and there are enough redeeming qualities for me to continue watching this but...…
Judging from the comments it seems like 90% of watchers are skipping the stepbrother part and enjoying the other couple's story instead. While I think covering controversial topics in dramas like this is ok, in this case it was done (horribly) wrong because a very crucial element is missing: repentance, without which there can be no forgiveness.
The rushed ending, probably due to a change in regulations that forced them to shorten the drama to 40 eps shortly before release. I heard they have a better edited version out now but have not rewatched.
Just finished, after the fiasco with TTEOTM this one has an ending that works and there is also a cute dog in it, I could not wish for more. Somehow the two MLs constantly reminds me of TBOY, not a bad thing at all (Li Hongyi looking better but Cheng Yi acting better). There is the bromance tag sorely missing but when trying to add one I was rejected and reprimanded never to use the add-tag-button WTF??
Passable.Very one dimensional. One dimensional world: we don't see anything of it that isn't related to "cultivating"…
That's typical for many martial arts cultivation novels, except for gaining new strength, skills and killing the enemy nothing counts. There are better novels though that contain friendship and romance. Normally for drama adaption the script writers would fill the holes and add relationships but apparently not here (I dropped out early though and don't know what happens in later episodes.).
This was very enjoyable to watch. Though acting, CGI and cinematography are not great, the story caught and carried me through from beginning to end, even though I didn't like the lead actors and their characters.
Compared to newer stuff like Blood of Youth or TTEoTM with greater visuals this felt more substantial and satisfying in the end, comparable to Joy of Live and Evernight though still short of Nirvana in Fire.
An ancient eastern (currently on Amazon Prime), not much of a plot, acting, character development, sword skills, romance or cinematographic value to find, instead the harsh living conditions in a desert town are presented with brutal honesty.
The tragic and the comedy are not always well synchronized though.
I wonder if Dal Gi is Yi Bang's boy toy?
Some characters of earlier HIStory installments appear later in the drama but the plot is independent from former ones.

2 episodes are missing, I found those on dramacool.

(no BL and not related to the HiStory series)

Not much of a plot, but Anson in robes and with long hair is a treat to watch.

This kind of realism has impressed me deeply.
there's definitely some slow growing going on
slowly gettin stronger
AND ONE DAY IT WILL BLOOM!
