"By the middle of filming Dating in The Kitchen, Zhao Lusi hardly needed my help. As long as I gave her a little hint, she immediately understood what I meant. There was one scene where Gu Shengnan argued with Lu Jin; the one where she's chopping mushrooms in the kitchen. It was a turning point in their relationship.
For earlier scenes, it was usually Lin Yushen who led her, since he's a very experienced actor. But for that particular scene, I told Lusi, "This scene has to be led by the female lead. You have to take control of the rhythm." I also told her, "Lusi, you need to understand. Once this scene is over, no matter how many lines he has, the audience will be focused on watching you, even if you don’t say a single word." That was all I said.
