I'm kinda hoping at least they get closer romantically while they're doing the investigations, its genre romance would only make sense then. At its current state "romance" doesn't even feel like a tertiary plot its genre is more historical, thriller and drama.
I don't mind a dark plot as long as there is some angsty romance to look forward to tbh but I can't see that for now

i saw this such a long time ago but it still left a lasting impression on me. I'm not sure if I'd rate it as high again if I see it now but its definitely one of the older gems

okay wow, finally caught up... I JUST WANT TO SEE THEM MARRIED PLS WHAT IS THIS TWIST. Also... maybe I haven't been paying attention well but does Yun Xi also being another adopted son effect Hanyan? He hasn't really done anything against her (if you don't count all the things that HY already knows)

So I just finished ep 14 and saw the mom's backstory... So though I don't LOVE her (fr now at least) I do like her a more now but... she still neglected her for 17 years, never checked on her and basically let her live like a dog for all that time. I feel like the mc forgave her wayy too quickly especially because she got soft with her before even knowing all this. But I guess this just goes to show that the mom is not perfect, she's done wrong but she still loves her daughter and that the FL is despite being very cunning actually quite kind and forgiving.
