Well, we all knew what was to come, anyone who was curious enough to research the actual people these characters where based on…. I’m reminded of atonement : “ Older Briony: So, my sister and Robbie were never able to have the time together they both so longed for... and deserved […] But what sense of hope or satisfaction could a reader derive from an ending like that? So in the book, I wanted to give Robbie and Cecilia what they lost out on in life. I'd like to think this isn't weakness or... evasion... but a final act of kindness. I gave them their happiness.”… I’m glad it ended the way it did. I hope they found happiness in death, even if in life it was short lived.
New FAVOURITE drama! Sooo Good. I loved the FL in hospital playlist, and I’m impressed with both lead characters so far… this is definitely going to be a great show!!
I actually really enjoyed this film, I’ve re-watched it three times over the year I’ve been into East Asian cinema. I’d recommend if you like slice of life, slow burn and slight romance. I thought it was well crafted and realized. The plot of the movie is interesting and a bit strange (probably why I love Japanese cinema so much!) but still a beautiful film. It’s not as romantic as some might like but I feel like it has a realistic love dynamic. It’s not always unicorns and rainbows when it comes to a romance, this felt authentic to the characters and their story. 8/10
