I'm not going to try to talk you out of your (honestly, totally valid) opinion of the story but I'll say this:…
That is because the core story of this type of drama has the ultimate fantasy dream of majorities girl especially teenager:
A group consists of 4 rich, famous, and goodlooking bad boys are in friendship since childhood and being so powerful when they are teenager until they can be so mischievous in their collage/ high school but still get away with it. One day, an ordinary sweet girl just get enrolled there and suddenly she dares to be the first girl who oppose the leader of the group.
Stunned, the leader of this group slowly fallen in love with her and also slowly change his "bad boy" character until it also effect his relationships/interactions with his other 3 childhood friends, family and other peoples around his life.
After facing many trials together, like competition to get the heart of the girl between the leader and his chilhood friend that is also the member of the group, the scary leader's mother and his fiancee that supposed to be his future wife, the boy and the girl finally get to be together and they engaged at the end.
It's kind mix the element of "Cinderalla and Prince charming" story and "ordinary girl taming a hot "badboy" that has mummy issue" story.
Majorities teenage girl and sometime even ladies in their 20's and 30's will fangirling over this plot LOL
Hi everyone! This has been my first Thai drama, and I'm interested in knowing if there's any other Thai dramas…
A good rom com drama to me might be not your taste and vice versa.
So rather than drama recommendation, I prefer to give you some information about Thailand dramas since you mentioned that you are new to Thailand drama.
And to warn you, there is one of well known genre of Thailand drama that might get you uncomfortable, which is slap/kiss genre. It kind of "telenovela" type in Thailand entertainment.
After know about this genre, some people might watch it and just treat them as fictional stories, while some people might feel uncomfortable and avoid these genre.
While watching this you really have to suspend your disbelief at all times omg. None of the actions of the students…
This drama is an adaptation from a famous Japanese shoujo manga by Yoko Kamio that published in 1992.
If you familiar with shoujo manga with bit of ala Cinderella plot, one of their famous theme is "rich bad boy slowly change after fallen in love with poor sweet girl who also being the first that dare to oppose him and after facing many trials, they finally get to be together at the end".
Since this drama is an adaptation from that kind of manga, so right now it kinda make the bit modernized version of showing the journey of how the rich bad boy slowly change after he meet the poor sweet girl before they get to be together at the end, which of course also has some of unrealistic part so we need to suspend some of our belief if we compared the theme with our real life.
Considering that Hana Yori Dango/Boys Over Flowers basically invented second lead syndrome, I am cackling over…
I feel although this Thailand drama adaptation build Thyme & Gorya growing relationship more nicely and Thyme & Gorya have good chemistry in their interactions, actually this drama still don't flesh out Ren & Gorya interactions/relationship that could make me root for them so far LOL
Yes, in the beginning Ren is helping Gorya at time Thyme is jerk and then?
It's kind of Gorya has a crush with Ren because he's being nice to her in the beginning but Ren just treated her nicely like usual while still keep his feeling about his crush from his childhood friend until suddenly he dare to act upon it by followed his crush after Gorya encouraged him=_=
Maybe when they show us more Ren/Gorya interactions in upcoming episodes, I could feel it more?
I wrote about this at length but the short version is this is a very self aware version of the story and because…
I agree with your comment.
I had watch the drama adaptations from Taiwan, Japan, Korea and China before this Thailand adaptation and my top favourite are Japanese followed by Thailand in second place.
I think audiences that love older adaptation of this drama like me or other adaptations whether Taiwanese/Korean/Chinese more despite those dramas had harsher main male lead or more toxic scene (like forced kiss/attempted rape plot etc) are usually because of nostalgia since we watch this drama when we are young/teenager or because we are familiar with shoujo manga culture which can also be called as "guilty pleasure".
But no matter what, let's be real. There's no way they will make this Thailand adaptation more intense/harsher whether in the bullying part or main male lead character like in the older adaptation because we are already in year 2022 and although the main male lead character is a "bad boy", he's gonna be together with main female lead as her "romantic partner" until the end in a romance dramas aimed for teenager.
Like seriously, these audiences that ask for more intensity/toxicity in these kind of romance drama should understand LOL
I don't want to be the spoiler but it is Gorya, if u see on the pictures provided page 2, u can see her dress…
It's ok to give me spoiler for this drama because it is one of many drama adaptations and I can make rough guess about the plot based on the other drama adaptations that I already watch LOL
So they won't make his fiancee suddenly emerged to interrupt and this will ruined their second date in episode 6? Yes! I'm hoping more of their sweet scenes together in this second date yay! ^_^
Based on the video preview of episode 6, you can see that girl who approached Thyme make him gives kind of "this is unexpected" reaction when he seen her face on 0:26 - 0:29. I think the girl is Thyme fiancee. https://youtu.be/Zl4gjny4Ryk
So I guess the next trial between Thyme and Gorya growing relationship is "Thyme fiancee"?
I thought Hana is gonna aim a gun at Thyme because it's a Thai drama after all LMFAO
As someone that watch Thailand drama since earlier 2000's, your comment crack me up so much LOOL
Yes, this adaptation is produced by Thailand country so it kind of fall under "Thailand drama" but it seem they remake it to be not the usual slap/kiss or dramatic genre, more like mix of modern coming of age and slice of life genre.
This drama adaptation even make fun of the typical "accidental fall & kiss" scene in lakorn in episode 3 so I guess there wouldn't be that kind of typical "frustrated villainous second lead pointing gun to main lead" scene;-P
Furthermore this drama is not produced by channel 7 or channel 3 that are bigger channel and established older in Thailand but by channel GMM 25 which is more youth oriented and more open to international audience so the possibility of that scene is very low haha.
I read a tweet on twitter before that based on the behind the scene pictures of this drama, Chen Xing Xu character will experience many suffering and now it make me interested more when it mentioned in synopsis here that the smart and cunning younger sister will be his main female lead, YAY!
I mean, my favourite of his performance in costume drama is in Goodbye My Princess as the cunning Gu Xiao Wu/Li Cheng Yin so it's nice that this time, it is a cunning younger sister that will be his main female lead in this drama LOL
I hope this drama PD or screenwriter won't reduced Landy Li character to become a too naive/less smart/dumb main female lead in the drama because there are already many genius/smart/cunning main male lead in Chinese costume dramas so it's good to have that kind of main female lead too.
Wait, I feel like this is a stupid question. Sorry, I haven't watched it yet
That is not a stupid question. Don't worry LOL
The important thing you need to know is this "F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers" is one of many dramas adaptation from a famous Japanese shoujo manga, Hana Yori Dango (1992) by Yoko Kamio with the famous "a rich bad boy fallen in love with a poor sweet girl that also been the only girl who dare to oppose him" theme.
So with that theme, of course the poor sweet girl (Main Female Lead) here, Gorya will end up with the rich bad boy (Main Male Lead) that is Thyme.
I really like this Thailand version of F4 drama! Thyme and Gorya chemistry with each other make them become no 2 in my list of Hana Yori Dango live adaptations after the main couple in Japanese Hana Yori Dango (2005) version.
But what's up with some comment hating this drama or main actress (Tu Tontawan) just because they like main actor (Bright) pairing with one of the supporting actor (Win Metawin) before?
Bright and Win Metawin are ACTORS so they of course they should act with other actors/actresses to gain experience for their job.
I watch Thailand dramas since 2000's and one of the reason I like Thailand actors and actresses interactions behind the scene are because usually they more open to joke and being friendly with each other, take pictures behind the scene together sometime just two of them and post them in their social media, no problem promoting their drama together as workmate although some of them have boyfriends/girlfriends/fiance/fiancee/married.
Since Thailand dramas especially BL gained their popularity outside Thailand, it seems they also gained annoying and childish toxic fans just like Korean and Chinese actors and actress sheesh.
They also have some toxic fan before like some actor Nadech 's toxic fans because they want him acting just with his girlfriend , actress Yaya but now this toxic fan culture spreading more open and wider to other young Thailand actors and actresses?
Many times these toxic fans culture ruined Korean and Chinese actors/actresses and Kpop idols ughh Some of them being uptight when interacted with their workmate off cam because childish toxic fans now do they want Thailand actor/actresses interactions with each other become like that too? YIKES
I really like Zhao Lu Si as an actress and I'm so excited for this drama because it is in Han dynasty and her romantic partner in this drama is actor Wu Lei but I'm really worried with the total of episodes.
The costume drama of my favourite actor, Joseph Zeng, which was Rebirth For You (2021), had been cut out until became just 40 episodes and now Imperial Cuisine, upcoming drama of my another favourite actor, Xu Kai also get cut out from 46 episodes to become just 40 episodes.
And this drama has 66 episodes?!
I can watch Zhao Lu Si even in a drama with 100 episodes but if this drama's production want to make more than 40 episodes why not split it into two parts like what other dramas did?
Ren Jia Lun and Bai Lu: Part 1: One and Only (2021) - 24 episodes Part 2: Forever and Ever (2021) - 30 episodes
Ren Jia Lun and Dilraba: The Blue Whisper: Part 1 (2022) - 30 episodes The Blue Whisper: Part 2 (maybe in 2022) - 21 episodes
What if this drama also get cut out to become just 40 episodes? T_T Won't it just wasted the time of this drama's production? I hope this drama won't be cut out but still T_T
According to cdrama casting rumors (@cdramarumours) on twitter: Drama - #乐游原 Genre - Historical Romance Rumored cast - #XuKai, #JingTian Prod. by Tencent Filming slated to begin Feb Based on Fei Wo Si Cun’s unpublished novel of same name, she will also be serving as scriptwriter for the drama https://twitter.com/cdramarumours/status/1477658760935927808

I wonder what kind of romance plot she will write this time? Maybe it would not be too angsty and toxic like her previous romance plot since, you know, we're already in the year 2022 haha
