This drama is not based on the famous folk tale with sad ending but based on a novel by a famous movie screenwriter and I read a post on twitter mentioned that the novel is happy ending.

Although I'm one of the people that disappointed with the ending when I watch it for the first time, I think this kind of ending is unavoidable because the screenwriters (there are two screenwriters) of this drama used the real royal couple in Korea history.

Imagine the local especially the conservative reactions if the screenwriters end this drama with:
Yeah, our 25th of Joseon queen is a woman on the outside but actually has a man's soul in the inside and the king and the queen live happily ever after.

If the screenwriters used pure fiction royal couple then maybe at least they can make the man in the modern time is the reincarnation of the queen in the past and she willing to stay in Joseon time after fallen in love again with her husband.

Women in historical times normally will married before they are 18 years old. This is a fact.

My grandmother married when she was 16 years old. Even a 18 years old unmarried woman is known as spinster in the olden days.

King Cheol Jong was 20 years old while Queen Cheorin was 14 years old when they were married in the real history but seriously, it is hard for this drama PD to find a real 14 years old actress or even 24 years old actress that can portrayed the character of the main female lead as good as Shin Hye Sun.

The main female lead here has to act as the real Kim So Yong and Kim So Yong that been possessed by Jang Bong Hwan's soul.

If they casted an actress with average acting skill this drama wouldn't be successful since the main female lead performance and her chemistry with the main male lead is the main attraction for this drama.

If this drama PD casted a real 14 years old actress, I doubt she can slay the role of So Yong and Bong Hwan soul's in So Yong's body like Shin Hye Sun did.

Don't mention a 14 years old actress, is there even any 24 years old actress that can portrayed the role in Mr Queen perfectly like Shin Hye Sun did?

Some main female characters in dramas were portrayed by beautiful actresses but they don't have good acting skill and some actresses can act but the drama's screenwriter make the main female characters uninteresting and don't know how to write their character development. And what annoyed me the most is sometimes the same screenwriter that wrote the uninteresting main female characters can wrote an interesting second female lead in one drama haish =_=

This drama has both:
1)Shin Hye Sun: good actress with excellent performance
2)Main female lead, So Bong: an interesting character with good character development

I think that's why many viewers fall in love So Bong <(So) Yong + (Bong) Hwan = (So Bong)> character in this drama hehe

I like how the screenwriter develop main male character too. Kim Jung Hyun portrayed Cheol Jong perfectly. Not to mention Shin Hye Sun and Kim Jung Hyun have good chemistry together!

I wish they can reunite again in another drama with good script but Korean dramas don't like to repeat pairing T_T

Remember that the king still looks hot and has a gorgeous face with only some scratch and scars that healed quickly even after standing near the explosion and fell off the cliff ahaha

This drama has sexual joke since the earlier episodes like when the king read the censored 19+ book, the queen dowager explain to queen how to conceive a son when with king, when the king mentioned in episode 17 that he might need tent when they queen asked him to help her with the fake make out in front of public and many other scenes so that scene of the queen checking "king's corpse" is not weird at all for this drama LOL

This drama should has the sex comedy tag.
What if innocent teenagers under 18 watch this drama LOL
