I think they showed from her very first scenes that Aunt Gong had ambitions. There were plenty of hints that she…
She has always wanted to go back doesnt, yes. King promised to send soldiers with her, yes. She is a ruthless political operative, yes. But, every action she has done is consistent. She is someone who wants to go back to her homeland. She likes Yu Ran. She wants her homeland to stop suffering and progress. These were all consistent. She didn’t HAVE to kill her by any means. Yu Ran was meant to kill her father’s killer and that dude confessed he was the one who killed her father. Yu Ran is complaining she is ruthless, bind her and keep her somewhere. Why try to Kill her? and when she was dying go all lovely for her. It is inconsistent with her character and basically upends the narrative that they built for her over 40 something episodes. It is totally within her character for her to want to rule the tribe, after all she has been shagging the emperor dude for years partly for his promise to help her. She will obviously view herself as being better qualified to rule the tribe than Yu Ran. But it is absolutely out of character for her to try to kill Yu Ran for it. Just before this dramatic change, she agreed to marry (while planing and later succeding in murdering him) that gross dude as a compromise for sending Yu Ran away when he kept wanting to kill her and sent her guards to escort Yu Ran and Ji Ye to the docks.Yes, the dude later sent guards after them when he saw the cracks in the wall, but her guards protected Yu Ran with their life. Even when she has not respected Yu Ran’s will, the show has made it clear she has always wanted the best for Yu Ran. So her suddenly in one scene trying to kill Yu Ran while not being coerced is just out of character.
I am on 46. And can’t tolerate the writing anymore. Writers threw away 46 episodes of character development for aunt Gong and in one scene made her evil and try to kill Yu Ran when she has already killed the usurper. Someone who has protected Yuran all her life for 18 years will suddenly want to kill her because Yu Ran is grumbling that she executed those bastards that helped the tyrant?? It doesn’t make sense at all like wtf. The plot keeps getting stupider.
He Han keeps sacrificing his career to help these “independent” women. The relationships are all imbalanced. He Han seems more invested than either women. Kinda stupid of him.
Can those of you who love this drama give it some love on IMBD too? I am horrified that is only has a 6.6 rating…
This is not really a matter of “haters”. Many people genuinely think it is bad like I do. Just look at the ratings. It had the advantage of coming just after sky castle which achieved ridiculously high ratings so its first episode was really high for a jtbc show yet it has been falling. Because it is bad no offence.
Y, the second prince is the one the eldest princess supports.
Eng subs not yet available but they said they will try to find someone to take care of that.
