To understand the male leads of Saiunkoku Monogatari, I will post a comparison with the Lost You Forever men:
1. Zi Liu Hui (Shi Ryuuki) - The male lead who is destined to become the emperor
He is very possessive of Shuurei (Hong Xiu Li) + He was in love with her before she fell for him. He is like Cang Xuan but less intense, and he does not take other wives or concubines aside from her.
2. Cha Shuo Xun (Sa Sakujun) - The villain who only loves the FL in his twisted way
Immunity to Poison- Sakujun is resistant to all poisons as he tries so many that his body has gotten used to the effects therefore most of them are useless. - He is the same as Xiang Liu in this regard. But unlike the latter, he does not have any other good qualities.
3. Zi Jing Lan (Shi Seiran)- The kindhearted second male lead.
Due to his physical and intellectual superiority as well as for his kind heart (he was the only brother who showed kindness to Ryuuki as a boy). He is like Tu Shan Jing of the LYF, but with more ability to fight and protect the FL.
I think this will get licensed to air next year because they are still shooting some scenes. So as a new Deng Wein enthusiast, I will wait for months or a year to see him in LYF S2 and in his other TV projects.
Lost You Forever is now up there with my all-time cdrama favorites.
Favorite character - Tu Shan Jing. He is now right next to my favorite male leads: Ye Hua, Xu Feng, Si Feng, and Li Zi Wei. All of them will go to great lengths for their one true love. They strive to make a happily ever after with their one true love. They are willing to wait, however long it will be, to be with the one they love. ♥️

There are some good points in what you said, but when it comes to the fantasy costume genre of LYF with hidden identities and political intrigue, it's really different.
