I so agree! I think his loneliness (and LWY's) is what i found the most compeling about him ( and their CP). That is why even as he lied about wanting to maintain his position as LS, for us viewers, it was easy to see the lie. He would rather be a wild little blind fox living in a cave next to some fresh raspberries, utterly powerless, than be the dragon diety. In a way, being saved by CW was the cruelest fate for him.
It's not even about playing favourites and screentime at this point. GJM at the very beginning of the series made…
Haha and Bai Ze does not miss! I am hoping all couples get a fulfilling ending and thay LJ can continue to Steve as hard as he ever did without a YWH piggyback.

So true! And i think that contributes to his loneliness in a big part. He feels like he has to act as the dragon deity at all times so he cannot show weakness or open himself up to judgment. I also think that maybe he feels protective in not wanting others to have to shoulder the responsibility of choice when the choices are so heart rending, and rather burden himself with the guilt of the choices that have to be made. That is why he rather sacrifice himself with only Bai Ze as witness, and yet still wants to be acknowledged by the world for this sacrifice as a final confirmation that he lived uo to impossible expectations. Just my take though.

I understand this and it is true that director can have their muses which both inspire and direct their work, which can sometimes lead to imbalance. I just think it is still too early to decide final importance of characters as we still have 6 episodes left. This narrative of screentime keeps coming up only to see the focus to keep shifting from couple to couple. Not more than 3 episodes ago, the focus was DuDU and now we are about to end focus on JiLu. I like both couples, but I do have a higher preference for JiLu sk I notice the shift when it happens, and having a bias always makes their scenes feel shorter due to excitement and other scenes longer because of lower excitement (or dislike depending on what kind of viewer one is).
From how I see it, now we are heading towards the end. JiLu might get one more focused episode (not fully though since we reached an emotional highlight), but the next episodes will be focusing on WSG gaining power as we head towards the last confrontation. I would hope the last 2-3 episodes will focus more on the ensemble, but will likely carry a higher weight for JJY (the chosen antagonist) and WSG (the "chosen one").
That is just my opinion though. In a way, screentime matters, but actors create their own highlights. I know I have watched cdramas where the secondary couple just hit different and stronger despite having minimal screentime as opposed to the main couple. In this drama where screentime is more equally shared, i can see why DuDu is a bit harder hit as they are portraying a more mature love, WSG has let go of his suspicions so the tension of enemies to lovers has eased, and the other couple is more tragic (at least DuDu looks to at least have a chance at HE, while JiLu looks headed to a BE or minimally an OE). I guess you can blame the directing or the casting for that, but actors also choose their roles and actors are also cast accordnace with their ability to look the part. And imo, they all look their part and act amazingly in their roles.

I agree he is a liar, but it is typically not self-serving. When he deceives, from what I have seen (and correct me if I am wrong), there are good reasons behind it. He lies about being the dragon deity because that is his purpose and the promise he made CW, not for personal gain. He lied to JY, but that was to save WWY and LWY as well as for the ultimate purpose of beating JY. He lies about not being JL, but that is because he is not supposed to be him anymore. Etc. Whereas, WWY lies do have selfish reasons behind it (though there are some with just reasons), for example when she loed about what happened to WSG's family and her involvement, willing to kill to keep thay secret.
Fair point. I had the same thought throughout too. I kind of took it as every liar thinks everyone else is a liar…
Exactly! Its a way of justifying her own lack of morality in a way. I dont fault her for it given her background, but JL and LWY have gone through enough and her fueling suspicions does not help anyone, not even herself, in the end
Everything is going good unti now. However, One thing I can't get past is WWY always finds reasons to doubt Ji…
Fair point. I had the same thought throughout too. I kind of took it as every liar thinks everyone else is a liar too. She has shown in the series, for various reasons (some of them justifiable though) that she cant be fully trusted. In the same thread, she thinks that JL cant be trusted as well. LWY does not fall into that consideration because she IS her heart, and therefore a part of herself so she cant see her as untrustworthy no matter how many facts are placed in front of her.
