If these are the most important things for you in a drama than you can skip it, it's not terrible, but not that good in these departments. What is good about it is it's inclusiveness. There is a mute character and two ex-cons. Usually chinese dramas avoid topics like that, so for me it was very informative and interesting to watch. It has some reality and gravity in it, not too glamourous and shiny like so many other dramas. So though it doesn't have the greatest story or the most amazing chemistry in it, I keep watching because it has some breath of the fresh air in it. It also has a recurring motive of regret and guilt consciousness which I find interesting. There are also some tips about what to do or what not to do in certain dangerous situations, though I hope it will never come in handy.

Looked at your list and wondered, why do you only rate dramas 1 or 10? You do know that there are other numbers too, right? Dramas don't divide into only two groups: masterpieces and worthless shit. It's probably the question not only to you, but to everyone, why either adore or hate something? Most of the dramas I watch are between 5 and 8, it's so rare for me to feel either real hate or real admiration towards the dramas, how come it's either 1 or 10, all or nothing, for so many of the users here? And how are we going to make this site ratings to resemble any impartiality if it so filled with haters and stans. Personally, I wasn't impressed by it. He made her suffer too much and lied to her all the time. He was a shitty prince too, started wars and genocides out of the whim or to hide his plans and pretend to die. As for Yang Mi's acting I can't say anything bad, I rather liked her as a cross-dressed disciple and as a mortal, but as an immortal she was a bit too unemotional and aloof IMO, as if something was missing... But then she was depicting an alcoholic recluse, so maybe it is a good portrayal of such a character. So yes, Yang Mi and Mark Chao made a good impression on me, but the drama and it's characters triggered and angered me too much. I wouldn't write to anyone that they "should definitely watch it". Although I do find it rather bizarre for fans to only like single actors and actrices, but at the same time if fans don't turn into haters and silently stop being someone's fans for one reason or the other I think it's fine. At least in LCR it can be explained by several reasons: 1)he promised her parents that he would and he was grateful to them for taking care of him, so feels obliged to keep his promise to the best 2) she is mute, so in some ways she needs some extra help or care and it is natura for an older relative to feel responsible for her 3) like kwanto wrote he has his issues and traumatic past and he lost people dear to him, so he is extra protective of the closest person he has in the world 4) he has no family of his own, no wife, no children, so all his care and attention are dedicated to her.
