I wish this drama was 18 or 20 ep long . I am not ready to say bye to this drama :( The forst 5 ep were well passed - we saw how the previous crown prince died , how the family bonding was , then things happens and we moved on the next 5 (or 6 ) ep where the competition began . By the end we got our new crown prince . And then in the last 5 (or 6 ) ep we got close towards the death secret or conspiracy of the previous 2 crown princes of 2 gens . When I think like this it feels well paced but still I wanted to see more of the princes. So it feels a bit fast paced . 2 or 4 more eps would have been better for me . Cause They had a very good bonding unlike other palace dramas where half -siblings ( or princes ) can’t tolerate each other and the concubines and queens r always fighting . Well , they r fighting here as well but some of them have a very good bonding . So I wanna see more !! But my god , the queen dowager ! In other dramas she is the cutest , supportive , understanding , loveliest mom . Here she is full of hatred, arrogance, jealousy and conspiracy . I won’t be able to see her the way I used to see her anymore

this is the first saeguk i loved soooo much after the red sleeves . but because saeguks often end on a sad note ( full of bittersweet feelings ) i tried to avoid it at first but after seeing so many good reviews about the drama i decided to watch it and i am enjoying every single moment of it . i can see why people r loving it soo much though it's not a romantic drama

dramas like this makes me sad cause sooo many people works hard to produce such a high-production drama ( 58 ep drama is no joke . so many scenes , soo many dialogues , so much editing and costumes ) yet due to censorship requirements, they are left to rotten in the drama dungeon :( sad how after the popularity of the untamed many production teams produced so many censored bl dramas but the new rules / requirements made them unable to air them completely . but if they are able to air them i hope they air them asap cause otherwise, the dramas will not be appreciated enough cause troops and trends become old fast enough in dramas

i really wanted to hate the main wife of the 6th prince . but she is such a girl crush , i surrender🙇♂️🙇♂️🙇♂️ . i really couldnt hate her . before she came i really didnt find any problem with the fl but after she pointed out those mistakes / problems i felt the main wife really needed to bring the best out of the fl this is one of the best part of this drama tat makes it an exceptional . we have always seen the women in the palace fighting against each other , biting to death . but here they managed to create a beautiful friendship ( except for one or two )
the story of emperor wen and his two empresses is soooo underrated yet so heart wrenching for me . they were not the main focus but in the ep the 1st empress dies their relationship really caught my eyes
he had to compromise his love for power due to his mother . but when he married her ( 1st E ) he really respected and was always grateful to her . he believed she was the perfect empress but he couldnt forget his first love ( his ex fiance ) . so when he became the emperor he brought her as a concubine . 1st E was always sad about it . she felt she destroyed their love . she always felt she was inferior to 2nd E and no matter what emperor will never love her the way he loves 2nd E . but she accepted the fact and fulfilled her responsibilities as the empress believing atleast she got to be his wife
she - the 2nd E was bold and strong but her father couldnt help the emperor gain power so when he broke up with her she accepted it . but when he came back to her she happily accepted to become his concubine . but like the 1st E said in her death bed - " which woman would love to share her love with another woman . she looks strong but in the inside, she is always dying , breaking part due to grief "
the two empresses NEVER hated each other . they were respectful to each other and always understood each other and their compromises ( an example : when the 2nd E's child died during childhood rumors said the 1st E killed him but she never believed it cause she knew 1st E knew the agony of losing a child )
the emperor really tried his best to love both the empresses but is it really possible ? there was always a visible difference . but one was his wife and the other was his first love , childhood friend . also the 2nd E was clearly a stronger person in terms of speech and action . so 1st E always fet inferiro and even in her death bed she vowed nothing but to not marry the emperor if there is an afterlife .
but silly her . she always felt she broke their ( emperor and 2nd E ) relationship, she came in between the two , she didnt deserve his love , mayb he never loved her , it was all his gratefulness to her for being an good empress . he knew he never compared the two . he knew their grief so he always tried to take extra care of the two in personal not to let them feel jealous. as a result he never knew the 1st E still felt inferior in her heart . ---- this was the summary of the relationship of the emperor and his 2 empresses . these were all i could understand noticing the details during their convo ( as their story was never the main focus of the drama ) but isnt the story good ? i feel it is 100 times better than other palace politics dramas cause here no one was toxic . and they all felt genuine
I don’t know why but I keep seeing park minyoung in yang mi and song kang in xukai :D I know they have done a drama together ( forecasting love weather ) but I feel if this drama could have a Korean adaptation- minyoung and song kang would be the best cast ( visual and vibewise) Ps : it’s just my opinion .
