The reason 'normal people' is in quotes is because it's sarcastic. Everyone sees Hyun Su as abnormal and suspect him and scrutinize everything he does because of it. whereas the characters that other characters view as normal have almost all committed crimes of their own that are quickly forgotten about. In episode 8 Moo Jin used it to distinguish him and Hyun Su.
I also considered listing Park Kyung Choon, but he was arrested and tried for his crime, so I left it out.
I wanna watch this because Lee JoonGi but I'm scared lol... I'll most likely root for him because he's gorgeous…
Your very likely to root for him cause he's a lovable anti-hero, bonus points if you enjoy vindictive and sardonic characters. The story so far is about him trying to keep his life together despite being wanted for murder. When I tell friends about the show I use a different description.
"Baek Hee Seong is a metal craftsman, husband, and father, but he wasn't always. Growing up He was Do Hyun Su, son of the yeonju serial killer and alleged murderer himself. After allegedly killing the village foreman he took on the identity of Baek Hee Seong and Married Cha Ji Won, a homicide detective, and has been living peacefully for the past 14 years. but after someone copies his father's M.O. the blame is put on Do Hyun Su. Now it's a race to get rid of any connection between his old life, and his new before his wife and her team uncover the truth."
Sorry if this wasn't what you were looking for, jury is still out on whether it will end happy, I'm thinking it will have a bitter but complete ending like Daisy.
Me here crying cuz I wanna watch this drama, but I’m still waiting for it to be completed cuz I can’t handle…
Hang in there! School actually makes it easier for me to wait each week so I'm looking forward, but yeah it can be hard. I've heard good ones to watch in the mean time are Lawless Lawyer and Criminal Minds.
Crimes committed by the 'normal people': Hae Su: Murder Moo Jin: Aiding and abetting, assault Det. Choi: Theft, other illegal means of gathering evidence Ji Won: Destruction of evidence, Aiding and abetting, assault BHS's dad: Conspiracy to murder, probably also murder, identity laundering (aiding and abetting?), BHS's Mom: Identity laundering (aiding and abetting?) Nam Soon Gil: Attempted murder, theft
that's all I got for now. I'm obviously not an expert and probably mislabeled some stuff, please feel free to correct or add.
ClassA-Substance is right, he just found out one of his team members has not only been hiding crucial info from…
No I don't think all cops adhere to that, but they should which is why I can still criticize those that don't, cause he's not doing his job properly.
As for his hunches, no they weren't, they were literally just the easiest possible answers. He called Ji Won Naive in the first episode because she said she didn't believe the guy did it based on the evidence, even though that's a crucial stage of investigating. He also latched onto the idea that the son killed the mother for debt issues in the second episode, completely ignoring the girl who so easily manipulated him, then fighting with a team mate over it and constantly telling her she was wasting her energy. In the third episode when he heard the victim call Do Hyun Su's name he was ecstatic that it would be an easy case, again not even considering the possibility the victim may be wrong. This opened him up for being manipulated again by the taxi driver. In the seventh episode they are working on a lettuce burglary case, one in which he kept shirking his duties cause it was boring. He's known to constantly break the law in order to obtain evidence faster. He's impatient, lazy, and in all honesty, a bad judge of character. He only thought Baek Hee Seong was sus because HS wants everyone to like him so he tried to get on his good side.
I've been thinking about writing my opinion of age gaps. For me there are 3 main factors: Actor age, Character age, and mental maturity. The importance of the 2nd varying depending on whether it's supernatural with an actor age diff or not. Goblin managed to royally mess the whole thing up. Supernatural isn't generally as creepy if the actors don't have an age gap, however there was a really clear one. Second if one is still a minor, DONT EVEN START. Like you can maybe have them meet once or twice, then fast forward and they meet again in the future but Goblin they were practically dating before she had graduated. Waiting till the child is 'old enough' is part of the grooming process... Third how mentally mature is the younger party? In Goblin she acted her age. The drama likes to try setting her apart because she works a job, studies, and faces hardships, but at the end of the day she is just like most other highschoolers and nowhere near mature enough for that relationship. Not to mention Kim Shin wasn't exactly a mature gentleman either -_-* As if that weren't enough, she dies and he waits for her to be reincarnated, not meeting her again until she's a HIGHSCHOOLER ALL OVER AGAIN.
My new theory: DMS used the accomplice to receive the victims while using his car so that, should someone spot the car, he's not a suspect cause he has an alibi. Accomplice however is not as level headed as DMS and starts getting anxious after the slip up with JMS. He decides it'd be too easy to pin it all on DMS by just getting rid of him. So he stages the suicide and lets the cops investigate already knowing that people thought the Do family to be weird/dangerous outsiders. Then he makes sure DHS has JMS's fish chain so that his credibility as an alibi would be tanked and he'd be pegged as an accomplice, after all the town already hates him. Then DHS kills the foreman (to accomplice's knowledge) and runs away, this gives the accomplice the perfect opportunity to silence the witness in case she should remember more details about him.
ClassA-Substance is right, he just found out one of his team members has not only been hiding crucial info from…
No, actually he wouldn't. Although he's literally the only suspect, based on what's been said about the case the only evidence against him is circumstantial. that being Opportunity, motive, and the weapon being in his bag. If they had gotten anything off the weapon then Hae Su would have been on the list of suspects, which means they completely skipped checking for DNA and fingerprints. Overall a really mishandled investigation. Add in the suspicion caused by being the alibi for his father, and his mysterious disappearance, and you still don't have enough to indict someone.
Also him being the main suspect in one crime, does not mean he is guilty of multiple. Det. Choi is out of line and needs to stop leading biased investigations, which he is already pretty well known for from the previous 3 cases we've seen him work on.
The summary of this drama really got me hooked but now series has been disappointing for me personally. I thought…
When describing it to my friend back when only 6 episodes were out I wrote my own description.
A lot of people seem disappointed by the marketing.

That detective just got on my nerves! You are just in the middle of big action and instead of dealing with that…
ClassA-Substance is right, he just found out one of his team members has not only been hiding crucial info from them, but also has been actively trying to rig the investigation. Until he can trust her the operation is incredibly dangerous.
His problem though is every case Hyun Su's name has come up in, he's assumed guilty until proven innocent without even considering there could be other possibilities.
Det. Choi asking her if she has proof in the next time on is kinda frustrating since all the evidence against Hyun Su is circumstantial yet the investigation has been focused as if they were already dealing with a murderer. Also there was no mention of summons for Hyun Su in the foreman case, with the town's history of hating him and their neglect for proper investigation technique I wouldn't be shocked if they immediately put him on the wanted list instead of even trying to examine the scene for a different suspect.
Maybe he only bought them when he wanted specific people he couldn't trap? He said something about some "raw materials"…
What I took away from that, was that he viewed people in general as too risky to secure by himself. It would honestly explain how he managed it under the kid's noses.
I also considered listing Park Kyung Choon, but he was arrested and tried for his crime, so I left it out.
