I disagree with the comments that claim "BL doesn't need a happy ending to be good" BL is a romantic genre. A…
"The purpose of storytelling is to transport the audience to a world of hope and happiness." NO. The purpose of storytelling is to enlighten us and give us insight into the human condition. Tragic or hopeful, there is always something to learn from every story. But lucky for you, there are plenty of HEA BL's out there to satisfy your need for fantasy. Enjoy them all!
I enjoyed this. All the boys and characters are just too sweet and adorable. Even that brat, Chun Sang Won. One man should not be that handsome. It felt very relaxed and natural and just filled me with flutters. But I did find the game elements somewhat confusing and had trouble understanding why certain things happened. All those system errors and changes felt more contrived for the plot than something that might actually happened if he played the game. Also, while I'm happy for the happy ending, it's also kind of unsatisfying, since it's only "in the game". But I'll probably watch this again for the heart swelling feels.
I enjoyed but found all the time/universe skips to be confusing. It never felt like 3 different parallel universes to me. Simply felt like one story told in 3 different time periods. Enjoyable, but somehow not satisfying.
First 2 eps were as good as I was hoping. Not your typical premise or characters. Acting was good. Well shot. The boys are all too beautiful for words. I'm always curious how the alternate reality BLs will play out into a satisfying ending, so I'm looking forward to more.
There were some great moments in Ep6. Tay nailed it. I like a lot of the acting, and characterizations (Junior aside, although he had a great scene in Ep5 where he comforted Min, so when he's not mugging he's got the chops). But halfway through the series and I'm finding it hard not to just watch the JBL instead. Not gonna drop it, but not in love either.
This was cute, sweet, light, and lacking substance but I still enjoyed it. Stan Huang is just perfect. And Xuan Chen grew on me. They probably could have done this in 5 episodes with the same results, though. Nothing special, but a fun binge watch, for sure.
4 eps in and I wish I liked it more. It's a fine adaptation, but the original JBL is one of my favs, so this will always pale in comparison IMO. My first ship, Tay and New are great, Tay especially. I don't really buy New as a naif anymore, though. I think Junior is trying way too hard. It's a tough role, but he's forcing it too much for me. There's something about the way his scenes are shot that makes them look very stiff, that also makes it hard for me to warm up to Mark. I'll watch because of my love of this story, moreso than this adaptation.
This is cute and light and fluffy. Off is at his most adorable. He's toning down his acting more and more as his career flourishes and I think he's getting better each time. Can't wait to see more of Aungpao and a main role for him. Victor is gorgeous. I'm enjoying.
I really enjoyed this one. The acting was fantastic. Both ML are adorable and vulnerable and natural. None of it felt forced - and this was over the top sometimes in its comedy, but all to great effect. I even laughed at that ridiculous scene where they chase each other up those endless ramps, and the spit take directly at camera. Normally that kind of stuff would not work for me, but somehow they managed to do it all so well that I was along for the ride. The story is not entirely new, but it's al done so well here. I will watch this one again and again.
This was fine, but had zero unique elements. We've seen this story 1000 times before, so I'm not sure why they felt compelled to make another one. The actors are all good. The ending was a little unsettling. Seems like they're setting us up for a series in the future. Not sure I would watch as it seems to be just a retread of every other HS first crush story. But decent.
