Those last 3 eps were major. Tears for 90 minutes. I will say, it almost felt like a different character. WQ was sooo talkative, forthright, upfront, emotional, vulnerable... It almost didn't feel like he was WQ anymore. But I understand why. He IS vulnerable and scared and Yuan has broken down all his walls finally and he can't hold it in any longer. They finally had some of the conversations I had been dying for them to have throughout the entire series.
Loved WQ trying to flex when they asked about Top/Bottom. "Isn't it obvious".... well from the montage I could make a few different assumptions...
Started re watching this from episode 1 yesterday because I can't wait for Saturday and noticed that from the…
I noticed that on the second rewatch as well. That made me think that Qian has been suppressing his feelings for Yuan for a long time, always avoiding his gaze and affection because he could not give into his true feelings.
I dont understand why Yuan went to see Le in the first place. What did I miss?
I went back and rewatched today and I'm still unclear. After the fight, Qian says he lasted the three rounds and Le gives him his bag and lets him go. Then the police show up. Le runs away and hides overseas. But I don't understand why they hold Qian responsible for Le having to run away. It was not his fault the police showed up. Nor that their business suffered. Even Le says his rivals were after him. I guess it's because Hu still holds a grudge and is trying to make trouble for Qian? (I'm reading the novel now, so I may have more insight later)
Wasn't a big fan of this one. Aside from the bitchiness of Senpai's assistant, I didn't really like ANY character. Didn't like Takashi, the Sr Editor, the mother, Sugimoto, the assistant... even Aki was too pathetic for me. I did not see any reason for Akihiro to like Takashi. He never gave me a warm, loving feeling. He always seemed to be lying or hiding something and there was a maliciousness to his grin that made me feel like he was going to purposely mess things up for Aki. I felt the characters were inconsistent in their actions, and went from one extreme to the other too easily. None of it felt real. It was all just convenient for the plot. Hasegawa Makoto had some nice moments, but that's about all I enjoyed. Won't rewatch.
Well, now that I see where this ended up, I have to say this was an unusual piece about friendship, forgiveness, pain, longing, and understanding. I kept thinking it would end in BL happiness, and it could have so easily with a few minor adjustments in the last 2 eps, but that's not the story they chose to tell. The mystery was really just a red herring. There was no need for it all, except to make the story feel some kind of momentum. Well acted, with memorable characters and a distinct vision. Yet somehow it won't be one I return to soon.
This show is all over the place. I can't keep up with the "like/hate/like/don't like/have sex/don't like, like, have sex/lovers/break up." Geez. And now this family nonsense. I have not believed one word Iwanaga said in the entire series. He seems to be lying through his teeth with every line. I'm glad I only have one more ep to slog through.
Started off sooooooo strong. I kept saying, "My new favorite show!" to all my friends. Jeon Jong Seo is AMAZING. I could watch her all day. Her eyes are so expressive. She should be a HUGE star. I found Moon Sang Min incredibly charming. Their initial bickering was delicious. But there was so much I didn't believe from a scripting/plot standpoint. Lots of missed opportunities and dropped threads and convenient resolutions. It got repetitive in the middle and ridiculous by the end. The homophobia, and internalized homophobia were hard to swallow. Still, I enjoyed it and would watch the first 4 eps over and over.
