jpnoy01 I don't disagree with you one bit. i've been having other conversations on the board and apparently, that's the difference between BL series and "gay" series. BL is all sanitized, chaste and doesn't consider real world issues. "Gay" series consider real-world implications. (At least from what I gather from others here). I guess there should be room for both, but I agree that it is a fetishization and potentially harmful for young gay men who may look to BL for examples of how their lives may evolve.

While I think the actors are amateurs, I blame most of this on the director. Every once in a while both the MC actually show an emotion, so they are capable. I think the director has told them to play the characters this way. Sometimes I think Solo is on drugs. He's got this dazed look as if nothing registers at all.

I THOUGHT I liked BL, but given the very narrow parameters for the genre held by the majority here (not all, but those ardent fans), it seems very few of the series I like would actually qualify as BL. And I think Pure is working on many levels. I think he's attracted to Folk, but still playing it loose because of his history. So when he gets between Folk and Pai it's for 2 reasons. His own and to help Itt get with Pai. It's a win/win for him.
I thought there was a touch of sadness to the way he delivered the line "Probably in someone else's bed." Despite his playboy ways, it still hurts him that no one cares for him on a deeper level. As he says, "It's just sex, not love." As long as everyone knows the rules, you have no right too complain. But looks like his tune will change in Ep 10.

That's it entirely. Cutting those lines about his looks and muscles would not change the story at all. And it would have taken them about 5 mins to re-do the script.
