I liked a lot. I didn't like a lot. Loved the more mature themes. Adult males, sex/relationship issues. Messy, complicated, true to life in some regards.
But right from the start it all felt contrived and forced. Three couples from 2 different companies all with the same/very similar sex/relationship issues? Did we need to be hit over the head? 2 discoveries, both on lover's phones, at the same time.
The issues both couples faced could have/should have been resolved with candid conversations between the lovers long before our MC met. You don't have sex for years but you don't have an actual conversation about it? You don't voice your concerns or true desires? I understand guilt, shame, pity, and a sense of responsibility may hinder that process, but come on!
Ito Asahi played Sei as if the life had been sucked out of him. He looked comatose for most of the series. Expressionless. Even, and most upsetting to me, during the sex scene. If my lover showed absolutely zero emotion while we made love, I think I would prefer not to have sex with him as well. He looked like he was thinking about doing laundry, rather than finally getting to do something he has wanted for so long. Now, I know a lot of this is his character. The life HAS been sucked out of him. First his parents, then the toxic relationship. But it's hard for me to connect to a character/actor when they are as lifeless as Asahi's Sei.
Muto Jun is a star, however. Of course, he got the flashier role. The more active, "heroic" role with some juicy emotional scenes. I could watch him in anything.
I also thought Akita Shiori was great in her role. The break-up scene was actually beautifully done, acting/writing/directing. A stand-out moment in the series.
Fujisawa was another character I didn't understand. He seemed cruel, sadistic, manipulative, controlling. But the final confession didn't seem to jibe with any of that. I thought one of the weirdest moments of the series was when he moved to another city, and told Sei to quit his job. At 25? He's supposed to retire and do WHAT for 50 years? I know it was just a way to manipulate and control him. but really?
Glad they are together and think they are good for each other. Was satisfied with the ending and could be interested in seeing how this couple progress - but Sei would have to show some emotion for me to come back for any potential S2.
It's episode 5 and as much as I WANT to like this one, I don't. Don't understand why you would date your best friend when you admit you don't like him that way. Don't understand why you would want to date your best friend when you know he has a crush on your teacher. Don't understand why you would ask to date him, then ask to break up with him. Character motivations don't make any sense to me. Such a shame. These boys are beautiful, but I can't watch another minute.
I think you´re exaggerating a bit. Up to this point the only thing the teacher has done is to listen his student…

I think that's the beauty of this show... the ambiguity. The dialogue could be seen as pure or with intent. His actions could be the same. The fact that we're debating it was the writer/director's intent. Is he, or isn't he?
First 2 eps were ok. Nothing great, nothing horrible. I liked the leads and their chemistry. Of course their dating makes ZERO sense, but I'll gladly watch Woohyun realize his feelings for the next 6 eps.
When both boys revealed they were in sex-less relationships I thought it was a bit too convenient - but that's the premise of the show so I bought into it. Revealing these possibly embarrassing details on an anonymous email thread makes sense. You feel safe and comfortable talking to a stranger who will never know you.
But now a 3rd person just blurts out that her husband is impotent and her marriage is sexless as well? Out of the blue. No prompting. Just blurts it out at a dinner party. Why? We got 2 different perspectives on sex-less relationships already. Did we need a third to drive home the point? I think not. Apparently there's a lot of people NOT having sex in Japan.
Also, if your husband masturbates alone, he's not impotent. He just doesn't want to have sex with YOU.
But just a minor rant. All in all, I'm all in on this unique storyline.
Lu Xi just bragged and bragged about his little brother and how art was very important to him... then the kid did nothing but play in the water the entire painting lesson. LOL. And now art is the last thing on little brother's mind.
I gave this one a shot, because I think Mix is a strong actor and I've enjoyed all his pairings with Earth, but this one just isn't for me. It's just not my style of comedy, so I keep getting pulled out of the story to roll my eyes. Not bad, just not for me. Enjoy.
Just my cup of tea. Dark, brooding, atmospheric, filled with nuance. More longing stares than insightful dialogue - but those stares speak volumes. What Huang Guan Zhi conveys with just a tentative smile is monumental. Not typical in its storytelling at all. Loved this glimpse into an underbelly that I will never be familiar with in real life. Like Pua, I cling to the hope of their love. I will watch again when I'm yearning for something moody.

But I did love his line in Ep 9, "Handsome boy with clear skin dies in a crop top". LOL
