Weird rant: What's with the trope of boys always over-sleeping and missing important tests/meetings/interviews/buses to their future jobs, etc? Is this something that happens in Asia a lot? Because it's in soooo many BLs.
First, they ALL have cell phones with alarm clocks in them. Problem solved. (In several series I've seen guys wake up WITH AN ALARM CLOCK and then moan about oversleeping/being late. Did they ALL set their alarms incorrectly?)
Most of them have friends also looking out for them. Xiao Yu even texted him the day earlier. How lazy/stupid are these guys? I've NEVER missed an important meeting by over-sleeping (even when I was a teenager sleeping 12 hours a day).
And what is this supposed to tell us about their characters? That they're lazy, don't pay attention to detail, don't take important things seriously.... ??? Why do writers think this makes us sympathetic to their characters? These are not traits I want in a BF.
I guess we see them change over time. Once they fall in love they miraculously can be on time. I guess that counts as character growth. Rant over.
This is the first version of this story I have watched. I can't compare it to other versions, and personally I try to rate each series on its own merits, regardless of its origins.
This style of slapstick humor is not generally for me, so not sure I'll be able to stick around for the whole series. That said, the boys are doing a great job.
Like someone else said, they are made up and styled to look younger, it seems. Both look HOT. But they have such pure, warm expressions that you immediately fall in love with them both. I like the cast, so I'll give it a shot, but am not expecting much.
I fell in love with both of these boys in Episode 1, and it's been a beautiful journey with them to their "marriage". While a LOT happens in this series, what impressed me the most was how much time the two boys spent STARING LONGINGLY into each other's eyes. There was so much emotion in those long glances. Excellent job from the actors. Another poster below said it, in most series I would be FF through the silences, but here I got so much from watching them process their thoughts and emotions and work through them. Naturally, there were some elements that could have been improved, but overall this is a beautiful series and I will rewatch it again and again. Probably starting this afternoon. Not bad, but just not interesting. The steamy scenes are so out of left field that they're jarring. I don't think I'll finish this one. Enjoy, everyone.
A good first episode. I'm not a big fan of supernatural BL, but I'm interested to see where this goes. Both of the leads did a good job. I like them better in these roles than LITA. They're more relaxed and natural. Doesn't feel like a Mame story... yet. I'm intrigued.
Ep 8 was a masterpiece, but my favorite moment was when the fireworks started. Normally in any BL this would be a moment of joy and happiness as our two leads held hands and watched the fireworks as a metaphor for their burgeoning love. Here, it was a counterpoint to their loss. Beautiful.

I agree the director has done a fabulous job, but none of it would matter if the two boys were not exceptional. During those pauses, the emotions that come from their eyes and faces are palpable.
I also felt bad that he kept having to repeat his story over and over. North had the same conversation with people…
When you can't come up with an interesting storyline, just have your character repeat the same info ad nauseum and it appears like you've written a full episode.

Thanks for the reminder. I often get frustrated, expecting the same quality of story and execution as the best shows on tv. I do think BL can do better, though. But you're right I need to reset my expectations.
North gets punched twice (in the stomach) and then FAINTS? And doesn't wake up until the next day? And Johan gives him a sponge bath? Because? You need a bath after you fainted? Then leaves medicine for him? What medication cures a punch in the stomach? I know this is fantasy, but honestly you can tell the same story without ridiculous leaps of logic and actual human behavior. Try to find ways to make your BL tropes feel like they actually might happen, writers. Ridiculous.
