Ep 4 was a big improvement - mostly because there was no Raynold Tan trying to be a bad boy. He's got smoldering…
In my case I thought the tattoos were an odd thing to see, especially when the production did nothing to acknowledge them until Episode 4 and kept emphasizing Nikko as a kind of squeaky-clean, ideal kid. I mean, a big helping of ink *is* an interesting characteristic for a high school's class president/#1 student, isn't it? Am I crazy to think that? Especially when what we see forms a trail up his arm and under his sleeve, suggesting the possibility it leads to a lot more under his shirt.
A lot of people seem to want to turn this into a top/bottom issue. (Don't get me started on the person who said people dislike Nikko because he's dark-skinned.) Unless someone has actually said that Nikko shouldn't have tattoos because he's a bottom, I think that's pure conjecture, and maybe a sneaky way to distract an opponent with nonsense.
So, maybe Nikko is secretly rebellious, but they've gone to such lengths to make him into this perfect, sensitive creature that rebellion seems an unlikely reason for the tattoos... which means the real reason itself could have been interesting, but this series doesn't strike me as having the creativity to pull that off. And I won't be surprised if the tattoos don't come up again in future episodes.
The series "Best Mistake" also has a high school class president who's into tattoos and wants to be a tattoo artist. That series makes it an interesting aspect of the character that defies viewer expectations and drives his part of the story. Honestly, though, that series is Shakespeare compared to this one.
Just loving this as my Friday comfort zone. It makes me tear up at the corniest stuff, but that's okay because it reminds me I'm not totally jaded yet.
Episode 4 was the best so far. They were in too much of a hurry to get the two MLs flirting with each other and didn't bother with the part I enjoy the most, which is seeing how the barriers get broken down.
I think my main issue is that Nikko is the least interesting character but gets the most screen time. Everything about him is predictable. He's just sweet and self-effacing about everything -- the embodiment of virtue. Eli and Justin, on the other hand, are more rough around the edges, so I'm more interested to see what they'll do next.
I'm glad they acknowledged the tattoos, although I think Eli's next question should have been to ask what they mean.
I'm capable of understanding this is not a depiction of an actual workplace and that therefore the behaviors exhibited might not be appropriate in an actual workplace.
Therefore I'm comfortable saying I loved the first episode and can tell this will be a cute series.
There's this visual dissonance that's impossible for me to ignore, which is that it looks like underneath his shirt Nikko the "nerdy class president" is covered with ink.
I also think his best friend is cuter. That actor should have been cast as the lead instead. For me he generates more sparks with Eli than Nikko does.
Eli, of course, is a stud, but because there's no dramatic tension to the story his presence is wasted. The screenwriter made no attempt to establish a way for the opposites to become attracted -- they just suddenly did. The animated hearts in the air can't substitute for a story.
This makes me think the series might just be cash grab leveraging BL's popularity. It's a squeaky-clean production but otherwise colorless. But I do hope we'll see more of Raynold Tan (Eli) in another production someday.
How can K-Soul be in fourth place? Tf? I do not find him that talented and his personality isn't that great either.…
He did work one bit of magic, which was to make me admire the singing coaches who diplomatically told him he shouldn't try to rap. I was so glad they held their ground.
His self-centeredness makes him entirely inappropriate for a group act.
But, I fear that his "supporters" (I can only imagine what kind of people they are) will keep voting for him.
I'm sad and relieved at the same time after seeing Episode #5. 😥I had heard that Yacht was leaving the competition…
I was shocked when he said he'd never danced before. It showed, though, and whoever encouraged him to join this program was not doing him a service. It makes me wonder if the injury is something they used to save face as he left.
I was gonna say that you must be mistaken, surely there are more KBLs with longer eps, but then I double checked…
So many of the KBLs are produced with the ultimate goal of combining them into a movie, and I think since they don't want the movie runtime to go too long, the more episodes there are in the series version the shorter the episodes are. We end up with around 15 minutes each, with one or two of those taken up by opening and closing credits.
Maybe since "Eighth Sense" started as a movie that was then ADAPTED into a series rather than chopped up into a series, the production took advantage of the different format to expand and enrich the story.
The main couple is boring, and Sky has screwed up so many times that the micro-managing head chef should have fired him already.
Fifth and Zeke are the reason to watch this. OMG they have such a sweet friendship, and it's edging into romance at just the right pace. The apology scene was adorable.
One thing I like about this production company is that they're willing to include screw-ups that most series would save for bloopers, and when they do it's hilarious. Zeke's comment to Drake at the end of the photo shoot made Adrian, the actor for Drake, crack up, and it was clearly not a scripted moment, especially since Drake is supposed to despise Zeke (so far, anyway).
(Another thing I like about this production company is that they know their audience. Drake's photo shoot was super sexy.)
I have a feeling that Drake might become part of a triangle with Fifth and Zeke. His dad took away his car, and of course who is the guy giving rides to everyone on his scooter? That would be Fifth. And the two of them did seem to make a connection of sorts when Fifth "assisted" during the photo shoot.
Meanwhile, for the main couple there's nothing interesting to speculate about because we all know how that story arc will go.
Guys, can you please stop getting SnowRegrets banned? He did not even make any public comments yesterday and only…
I agree with live and let live and blocking people you don't like, but if he got banned then he must have done it to himself by violating the terms of service. I have seen him make a lot of vicious personal attacks on people he disagrees with, and that approach is bound to get someone into trouble eventually.
MDL won't ban somebody just because another member asks them to. The most you can do is flag a comment as a TOS violation and then MDL decides on the course of action. Usually it just results in the comment being deleted but I suppose repeat offenders would get banned.
If he has no plans to change his approach to discussions on here then you might want to find another way for you and him to have your conversations.
As soon as the coworker said there was an urgent all-hands meeting I knew that Cher would end up doing what he did, and when he did it the series took a sharp left to Stupidville.
This feels like an 8-episode drama stretched to 12. It's not "bad" per se, just too padded and repetitive.

Because of Fifth and Zeke! 😏🎉
Please, please. Let's not waste Adrian's presence in the cast.
