Setting aside the evil café lady for a moment, and despite some scenes that feel like they go on too long, I think they're doing a really good job with both storylines. The school story is giving us one of the better "enemies to lovers" tropes that I've seen, and they're depicting Thana's gradual fall from grace very effectively.
(It's funny how some Thai series will blur out the liquor bottles while this one is going whole hog on the drinking and smoking. Maybe it's a decision based on where a series ends up airing.)
At this point the fact that the main stories are being told so well makes me disappointed that they included the supernatural element. Maybe it will be less annoying later on, but for now it seems like a distraction. My guess is that Thana will end up making a wish to restore his relationship with Patis, and in exchange the café lady will request his soul or require him to perform some sort of bad deed. (That jarful of keys makes me wonder if those are from her previous targets.)
Between Mai and Ryou I was expecting Mai to be the one who eventually makes a wish with her, which I thought would be that Ryou would stop hating him, but the fact that Ryou was the one who was able to see the café throws me off -- and of course they're starting to get along now. Maybe Ryou's best friend Nack (who's apparently in love with Ryou) will hurt Mai in some terrible way, forcing Reaow to seek the café lady's help.
I like how both Mai and Ryou seem like good guys who simply got off to a bad start.
Pie's brief appearance in the café and the lady's reaction to him makes me wonder if he somehow possesses an ability to undo her spells. She couldn't have been more hostile haha.
Watching this show actually produces rage in me. I still like Zeke & Fifth, although their storyline plunged into…
"I cannot tell you how much I loathe this self-indulgent garbage. Fortunately I don't have to because 99% of you feel the same way."
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I literally LOLed at that. I need to visit this page more often than just on broadcast day.
For the talent show, I had been wondering why getting drunk was part of preparing a school project. I guess it was so they could empty out the bottles for Fifth to toss into the air.
I have no idea what's happening between the main leads or why Miss Becky is upset. I hope YouTube stats convey to Oxin Films that viewers are skipping entire storylines in order to enjoy what they actually like.
I have to admit that I like how in this series there is more of an "anything goes" allowance by the producers…
Jin Ho is like a Zen master. Nothing ruffles him, and I think it's why he has no trouble remaining loyal to his core alliance. I also think that his bond with Xitsuh has helped to keep Xitsuh from going rogue. (Xitsuh seems to have the kind of DNA that could give into temptation, and I keep waiting for him to betray the other three but he always stays in line and for that I credit Jin Ho.)
What are they thinking when they cast Ha Seung Jin?? Like for god sake, he is fxkin annoying!! This is not how…
I have to admit that I like how in this series there is more of an "anything goes" allowance by the producers than in similar shows. For instance, telling your teammates to choose certain blocks based on the darker tone to the wood, or sneaking out of the basement dungeon to get food or a pillow, peeking at notebooks, etc. There's an emphasis on being resourceful in order to survive.
(I didn't like how they said that physical force was allowed during the ambush in Episode 2, though. That could have been downright disastrous.)
As for Ha Seung Jin, I'm not Korean but maybe he was/is a big star there and was a good choice for boosting the ratings.
I do wonder how popular the show is in Korea. (It seems not many people here on MDL are fans.)
For me, if Dex is eliminated it will be hard to keep watching, although Jin Ho would deserve the ultimate win as well. I like Hyun Ji a lot, too, but she has been a classic example of a player whose alliance is carrying her almost 100%. I can't imagine how she'd hold up if she had to compete in a deathmatch. Keeping a low profile only should get you so far.
People here seem not to like Xitsuh but I think he's played well and has been loyal to the alliance. I'm so impressed by how they've all stuck together almost the entire way! I can't remember another survival show where that was the case.
I have to hand it to Krist, it's like he's determined to show us all that he can do this thing, dammit. He's surprisingly good at comedy, although I think he could probably afford to tone down the erratic element of his performance just a tad. Overall I have to say he's sold me and I'm really looking forward to the rest of this.
I really like the pacing of the story, too. The director and screenwriter aren't rushing things and have done a great job at laying out the "rules" for the time travel. A recent series has really driven home to me that the elements of the story have to come first, no matter how well-intentioned it might be.
Thank you, GMMTV, for continuing the Friday tradition of a nicely done comfort series to take us into the weekend!
Can I get some spoilers? Does Justine get a guy too? Cause the first two leads usualy 99% of the time end up together…
It doesn't look like Justin gets a guy of his own. We're one episode away from the finale and there hasn't been any other character introduced in the series who could be his consolation prize. I suppose it's possible that someone brand new will show up in the last episode.
If they kill off Nikko maybe they can make Justin one of the leads in a sequel.
I really enjoyed this episode. Probably my favorite. I loved the progress in the story and all the cute moments.…
It's a realistically paced story that includes the work-related relationship in addition to the romantic one. I really like how you summarize the situation.
Most series would make Put into a villain and just string together "moments" for Pat and Jeng. I'm enjoying how it's confounding expectations and giving us something wonderfully unpredictable.
Even Oxin Films seems to realize that Fifth and Zeke are the only attraction here. I don't have vast experience with their productions but I wouldn't be surprised if those two have more chemistry than any other Oxin Films pair.
I can't tell you what's going on with the main couple because I skip their scenes entirely.
At least the Chukchuk storyline is finished. Now it seems they're setting up Fifth for disappointment when Zeke will show up late for Fifth's event (talent show?) after working at Kim's fashion show. (Shades of "My Only 12%")
This is pretty much critic-proof now. People who like tearjerkers are going to love the angst and emotion, unearned as it may be, whereas the flaws that make people like me roll our eyes through almost every episode are there to stay.
One thing I did like in the latest episode is that Nikko finally had a talk with Justin, and Justin seemed to finally give up his pursuit of him. Last week I thought that Justin might try to sabotage Nikko and Eli's date for the Prom. That idea was posed to him today and he rejected it. I hope he won't change his mind after what he witnessed in that very last scene between Eli and Nikko.

Survival.
Show.
Ever.
