Riri, when this all started not only did I not care about Nuea and Syn, I actively did not get them. Eventually…
This was in the back of my mind as well.
If I was going to give a devout Buddhist his first true kiss, I wouldn't do it in a night club where I'd had to coax him into entering, and in front of his friends as well as dozens of strangers.
Amongst all the surrounding chaos it was a refreshingly sweet moment, though. 😊
It just annoys me how the friends were staring at them all the time as if it was a show for them. Same with Lian…
I don’t think I’d want my first kiss with an avid Buddhist to take place in a night club in front of all those people, but what a nice and refreshing kiss it was.
I expected an outcry when Mon chose So over Saint but wow.
Saint had literally years to act on his feelings, but waited ... and waited ... and waited. And it could be argued that the only thing that got him to act was So telling him that he (So) likes Mon. I feel sympathy for the character but I also believe he's the most responsible for his own unhappiness.
I also want to cheer for the fact that the plain-looking guy who doesn't have even half of Saint's self-confidence would beat him out in the Mon sweepstakes. So spent weeks nurturing Mon when he thought he had zero chance to be with him. It's not the same kind of love as growing up alongside someone but it's just as valid.
RantJust because we disagree it doesn’t mean we don’t understand the series, or that we ignore anything from…
You make some excellent points.
I'm not as unhappy about Tofu's return to bear form as I am about the way it came about, i.e. a cruel murder where we have to watch as he gets taunted by the murderer (the most despised character in the whole series) while he slowly and painfully dies, with the culprit facing no consequences. It's like they're giving us the finger as they close out the series. I'd rather Tofu had done himself in by letting Jan run him over with her car.
If Jan had at least been found out and arrested I'd feel a little better, but no. It's surprising to me that the director and author were so blind to the specialness of what they'd created that they would squander it for the sake of shock value.
I think it's possible that some of the anti-NutTarn fans feel that way partly because of the way the Tofu character was dispatched to make way for Tarn's return. I don't think Tarn would like knowing he'd come back to life because another person had met such a horrible end.
I find your post very contradictory. You say: "It also doesn’t mean that we judge characters only by cute moments.…
I don't see pandora494 saying anything about wanting fluff in lieu of addressing the social issues the series brings up. It's like you responded to an entirely different comment.
Is TMOTB a love story or meant as social commentary? Maybe it's both. And I can see where those who experienced it as a love story feel gipped by the outcome while the people who appreciate the social commentary are perfectly fine with it.
I just watch star in my mind's latest ep just wow..it gives me relief from my pain somehow
It's truly a nice boost for anyone hurting after this series. Few series focus so much on the two leads and how they think and feel about each other, instead of throwing nasty love rivals into the mix to add drama to the story.
Oh I wanted to punch Kluen in the face this episode, when he suggested that Dao go out with Phoon. And for a moment…
I think I'm one of the few people who really likes Kluen and fully empathizes with him. I love this series. It's straightforward and doesn't throw tropes in our face as though the script was written by a committee.
I expect we'll get to see a very happy Kluen by the end, and the brilliant contrast will make it worth it that we only got to know him through his sense of fear and reserve. He's been holding so much inside since high school.
I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IF THERE ARE SeanMaitee STANS HERE BECAUSE I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. THEY ARE SO SUS AND THEY…
Well, I definitely enjoy seeing Win play a crazy and outgoing character after his role in Gear and Gown. He legit makes me laugh with his antics. It would be fun to see him and Maitee declare for each other before the series is over.
That's an interesting way to look at it. I know when I see In and Job on my IG and suddenly get a bit sad, I imagine…
True. It would have been better to have Tarn be at least a standard Second Lead so that it was clear to viewers that there might be a choice at the end, and that either Tarn or Tofu could prevail.
Anyone who complains about Second Lead Syndrome can take comfort in this series, since it was a supporting character with little screen time who got the guy in the end.
And as I write it like that I feel a little bit outraged tbh!
It's kinda ridiculous how they continue to push Nut-Tofu on us when we all now know that they aren't endgame and in fact one of them is killed off in the finale.
I feel bad for Job and In because as much attention as they're getting now, their popularity would have exploded even more if the series had ended more like the fans wanted.
Someone on Twitter mentioned that the author of this book is also the author of the book that the upcoming series Eclipse is based on. If that's true then we best prepare ourselves.
