Those who were there must have been excited and happy that everything finally went fine and there was no cold rain falling, (I am not in the vicinity at present, but read there was a cold spell predicted to last into the week-end and, yikes, "blue warning for frost" today! But my trusty weather app predicts a nice rise from chilly 4°C "real feel" now at night to 26°C on Wednesday in Hengdian.)

I am satisfied with Chen Zheyuan. If you are not, already before the drama airs, perhaps you could look for another drama that suits your taste instead of waiting to be disappointed ?

Started 2024-11-22, wrapped 2025-03-28 in Hengdian (On 2025-01-28, Chen Zheyuan suffered a freak accident, causing a broken collarbone, but he came back speedily after a "minor surgery" to resume shooting, using a sling for his arm in between shoots, although fan, cast and crew were worried for a while. Courageous actor. Good chemistry with Zhang Jingyi. Good experience with ancient costume, wuxia and martial arts in a handful dramas since 2020 -two got shelved because of circumstances, one of these two may drop any time now.)
Where are you at, in the drama ? She appears on a photo when the group missed her visit in ep22 before she traveled to Italy, and next, when she returns from Italy, in ep38.
Not really : those books were written fairly recently, if you look into it. I started lurking a good while back on MDL, but was commenting on other platform with a similar handle that got lost after a computer incident when I had to change a lot of IDs (I am a deep space alien with "several heads" and incarnations, under several real and pen names, don't ask me why or where, my answer lies in the lyrics of the Ganlan shu song...).
I am pretty eclectic in my drama watching and music tastes. The Ashes songs were my favorite OST songs from 2018 to well into 2022, especially the Upward to the Moon performance of 2020, which I was watching on CCTV4 while munching on mooncakes with family: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1KwPqbPP5o (keeping that link as a fond memory). There was also a song called Love Frost which I liked...
At the time of declaring an MDL handle, I was also incidentally listening to the OST of "The Man in the High Castle" adaptation of one of my favorite P.K.Dick novels on Amazon Prime, a song which tied in to a musical comedy I remembered from way back when.
That Edelweiss song even has a Chinese version btw, "xuerong hua" and is quite well-known in China : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2XvnZhyS3c (you get the song with the sol-fa music reading, the English lyrics, and the Chinese version on the video. The song is known to many kids in Chinese schools).
Ok enough from me, when I start on music, sometimes I don't know when to stop, so I won't swamp you with too much there :) Loving all those new and old songs collected or sampled in the Northward drama : therefore, the music section for my Companion piece here is somewhat lengthy.

But now those who liked the show can clamor for a season 2, except it must be with same actors. Doing it with other ones would definitely be a let down.
Already, I would not be looking forward to Ordinary Greatness 2 if Bai Lu is not in it ! (and I am still grumbling about other shows, where they had different people in sequels. It's okay if there is a big years and time difference, although characters better should not look and behave totally different. But it's not ok for a continuation.) Anyway, from what I understand, OG2 project has the same screenwriter as Northward, who wants Bai Lu in it, and since the first one got quite deservedly good success and is a Zhang Ruoyun project (with the star of Joy of Life who managed to get almost everyone in from S1 to S2), perhaps it will happen... But could Ou Hao and the rest of the 5 there come back for a Northward 2 remains an open question.
